  • The butthurt Randtards makes this even more hilarious.

  • I like Ayn Rand, and consider myself a libertarian, but this was a funny video. I mean, Atlas Shrugged the movie, was pretty shitty; script, dialogue, filming quality. It was just not made well...

  • Atlas Shrugged's moral: Being a nice person who wants to make people's lives better without thought of reward is PURE EVIL! If you see a starving mother with a baby begging for food, NEVER EVEN THINK about giving them anything. Let them Starve, They are worthless Paracites unable to make anything of themselves. The world is the way it is because of self rightous callous unsympathetic self serving assholes who care only about themsleves.

  • The book and the movie were quite good, it forces one to think more than the movie... ppl who want to see action, sex or period dramas can watch other stuff.

  • People who criticize Ayn Rand in this way are incapable of understanding her and just show their mental incapacity. No doubt they are Obama liberals.

  • even for those who dislike ayn rand this is just stupid at least i would laugh at something that was intelligently done... this is just embarrassing for the people who, eh... acte... showed their faces in this

  • so I signed in just to like this. "I empathize hard!"

  • She certainly wrote scripts I don't know if that's the same as "making" movies

  • If Ayn Rand made movies? She was a playwrite! That's what she did!

  • Love this trailer! Cracked me up. And, I'm a huge fan of Atlas Shrugged (the book). I own the first movie and even I admit it's pretty bad. Frankly, this book deserved a high-budget miniseries. That would have been great. But to chop it up like this and go shoestring budget...it's just not effective. Oh..and Ayn Rand had some very good points.

  • this was so stupid, and i actually thought that part 1 was pretty good.

  • You know what's funny? Ayn Rand did make movies...

  • The movie was just a bad movie. Tried to hard to say what it wanted. Actors spoke verbatim from book. Point of a movie is that they act the things that are said in a book. Philosophy is sound on its face. I or you have no right to take someone elses stuff, time, work or money. Pretty simple isn't? That also says that no one has the right to take yours either. Explain how such a simple concept, a concept our Founding Fathers fought for, is shite?

  • Typical liberal put-down. The libs fear the ideology and the fact that it is being offered to the public.

  • stupids retards

  • second most read book next to the bible, yeah, you herd right, number 2 in the world. awwww...hey, it's okay, stop crying, wipe your tears, and go march down the street with your hitler loving friends! that'll cheer ya up! (look out for the rocks, and bottles tho...)

  • @D0N0TSUBMEASSHOLE

"second most read book next to the bible, yeah, you herd right,"

yeah, I would use the term "herd" when describing the pseudo-libertarians who worship at the alter of Paul and Rand.

  • lol reading the comments it seems that this trailer is apparently making Randroids upset. Well like Ayn Rand herself would say: we simply don't give a fuck about you.

  • It's hilarious to hear Rand supporters supporting a movie. It's true, ya know: film making is an inherently collectivist undertaking.

(So is science, and for that matter, civilization.)

I read the book. It's hilariously bad. I can't wait for the Mystery Science Theater alumni to take on the movie (if they haven't already).

  • @innergogo

What was bad about the book?

  • @jarvy251 Nothing was bad about the book. Just the folks who claim to have read it and were not up to grasping it. It was a shatteringly honest book, but not for mediocre intelligence. Read it, with a wide open mind. I'm sorry that the focus of this clip seems to be "shot without a union crew". Ah, therein lies the problem with collectivism....really, read the book and try to grasp what it's telling you.

  • @musicismyanodyne

Yeah, I'm reading the book right now and it's fantastic. I was wondering what this guy didn't like about it.

  • @jarvy251 I suspect it's beyond him, and indicts his lifestyle. I don't know what you will take away from reading it...I just hope that you have the same experience I did--where I rethought everything I had been taught by rote and had to understand what I really believed and why. You don't have to agree with Rand 100% on everything to enjoy her intellect...but the THINKING I had to do while reading it was exhilarating. I hope you have that kind of experience with it.

  • The only bad thing about this book and movie is that not enough people have read or seen it, or possibly understood it.

  • @lefttodieable

Actually, I think it is the fact that it was a literary train wreck (pun intended), a philosophical joke and yet seems to inspire endless numbers of overprivaliged teenagers that was the bad thing about that book. Insufferable shite written by a sociopath with less understanding of economics and societies than an idiot angsty teenager.

  • Wow. I don't even know what to say about this one!

  • The free market would have embraced this movie and it would have been a blockbuster. However, just like in the movie, there is no free market in today's America. Just a bunch of political and Hollywood insiders that would do anything to silence the truth. It's kind of funny how the liberals always tout that they are the champions of freedom of speech and are the first ones out ofd the gate to surpress it.

  • @mdarmocida Please explain exactly how Atlas Shrugged part 1 would of been a success if our economic policies were different. What would so radically different that people would embrace it? How would changes to policy make this hot mess enjoyable?

  • I want my minute and 25 seconds back!!!!!!

  • Second City used to be funny. Oh no wait , that was SNL. Second City was never funny.

  • I generally vote Democratic (mainly because I despise Christians, Zionists, and conservative Muslims), but there is something to be said about actual competence, superior products and services being promoted, and using hard-fought detailed knowledge to make the superior product. I am an Atheist, but I am not a secular humanist. I kinda agree with Ayn Rand, Nietzsche, and Anton Lavey. Fuck it, I'll still vote Obama and Klobuchar. I make more money when Medicare is healthy, but I liked Atlas1.

  • It was pretty great I think, bit dull at times but it's intellectually stimulating which is much more than can be said about all the other crap being released.

  • Am I the only one that thought the movie was actually good?

ps, union actors are as worse as SOPA. Damn leaches.

  • @walperstyle No, I loved the movie also. Can't wait till Part 2 comes out this coming Fall!

  • This is one "sordid" video. =p

  • USA!

  • Next up, the porn parody: Atlas Wanked.

  • i signed in just to dislike this...

  • This video produced by a bunch of angry socialists.

  • Comment removed

  • Haha I actually liked Part 1 a lot, but this is pretty hilarious.

  • I like trains

  • Freethinking1 should try less of it. It's called RATIONAL self interest. Like exercising so one can provide for one's family for a longer period at an increased rate. As for the cute little phone movie here I really don't think its producers are in a position to criticize.

Perhaps the worlds fattest/richest socialist Michael Moore could shoot one between glasses of chardonnay and spoons full of caviar. Some in the "college crowd" never tire of their individualism. Or is that only for artists?

  • @fredfowinkle I understand rational self interest, and I understand uncaring greed. Unchecked capitalism destroys. What Moore has to with this I don't know, I guess he's free to choose how he lives. Doesn't agree with me, I intend to live and enjoy what I've worked for all my life. It is not rational self interest, it is intelligence. I don't need to be greedy to live well, work hard and care for others. Rand goes too far, hasn't worked for the country yet, never will.

  • SCTV still exists. I haven't watched that show since the 70s

  • @freethinking1 obviously u must not know what it means to work hard for something...people need to stop expecting others to provide shit for them. oh, and keep in mind that ur posting a video on a site created by a guy who selfishly sold youtube to google cuz he cashed in on what he created, which is basically capitalism at its best. and the same goes for all the most successful companies in the world. so remember that u practice it every time u post something!

  • @TheMissmax312 Actually, I worked all my life. Now retired. I am a capitalist, just not much into unchecked greed. Never needed to worship Ayn, I know how to survive without her bunk. That trickle down economics work for you? If so you are one of the few, and we've had thirty years of nonsense because of the greed morality.

  • @freethinking1 if she is full of it, then y did canada decide to sell all their oil to china after the keystone collapse.. the is an example of the great minds quiting out of govt interference. wut happnd to wiki? google? reddit? the other day. they did what those characters did in that book: show the world what happens when the movers of the economy stop moving it.

  • @TheMissmax312 Actually, wiki and the rest went dark for a day to protest capitalistic greed. The rand culture is one that produces large class separation. I worked for what I have, and keep enough of it to live. But this anti-government bunk is just old. I like using roads, I like a strong infrastructure, I understand the need for police, firemen and teachers; so I don't mind taxes and regulation. I don't mind programs that benefit the welfare of the general populace.

  • @freethinking1 business is business and charity is charity n dont tell me u havent felt the trickle down,it may not be money but i bet u love ur smartphone tablet, game console n flat screen tv! someone busted their ass to design and develop to sell those products to us,u want a piece of what sum1 else earned without contributing? thats calld a moocher.

  • @TheMissmax312 Trickle down is bullshit. Easy fact to prove, look at the stats of how the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. The only trickle down left is what idiots call entitlement programs, and when rand philosophy takes over there will be none of that. Why people so vehemently want to screw their brothers is odd. Must be hard hating your own.

  • @freethinking1 ur just pissd cuz u follow that stupidass class warfare bullshit. if u really understood capital and labor u'd know they're codependant. meaning u cant have one without the other.was steve jobs born rich? no! he was a fucking orphan so dont tell me theres some conspiracy to keep the poor poor.so stop beggin! get some ambition and make something of ur strengths instead of complaining that ur weak.america wasn't founded by pussies!it was founded by men with ambition.

  • @freethinking1 i hope thiz a serious discussion,i realize that i must be younger than u by at least a genration but i firmly believe that wut u create from ur talents and efforts are urs to reep the benefits. iDONT believe in the govt taking away wut i poured my blood sweat and tears into and guilt me for my strengths.i dont feel bad that i can provide for my family, i take pride. i wont even lie i make a mesely 30k a year at my job,but its fair trade for services im ok with that

  • @TheMissmax312 Again, if you are driving the roads and bridges, if you've had any type of education, thank the government.

  • @freethinking1 why the fuck should i thank the govt? im paying for my education! im $35,000 in debt just for student loans! n guess what! i didnt demand free money! i make my payments toward them because i can afford it.i put my talent n drive to use so i can say i dont need any handouts! im proud to say i earn what i have! i dont expect anything free just because i need it.i grew up broke as hell! but bust my ass for the right to say that something is mine BECAUSE i earned it.

  • @freethinking1 a govt CANNOT maintain a national economy because IT PRODUCES NO TANGIBLE GOODS OR SERVICES. read some adam smith cuz u obviously have no clue as to how the economic equilibrium works. the welfare state is how dictators keep the poor poorer, not the capitalist state....do some research before talkin out ur ass cuz capitalism = liberty and socialism = tyranny!

  • @freethinking1 Capitalist means you own the means of production. It doesn't mean you work, it doesn't mean you make profit.

  • @gordonottawa99 Wiki: There is general agreement that elements of capitalism include private ownership of the means of production, creation of goods or services for profit or income, the accumulation of capital, competitive markets, voluntary exchange and wage labor.

A capitalist is someone who invests money to make money, so you're definition is wrong. Look it up, every dictionary states basically the same thought.

  • @freethinking1 The dictionary is not a good source for political definitions. You need to check a political science textbook. A capitalist is someone who owns the means of production.

  • @gordonottawa99

what a dishonorable liar you are!!

words mean what they mean independent of who speaks.

this guy is the same kind of red animal who can set up a death camp without thinking twice

  • @freethinking1 ur a moron just for looking up capitalism on wiki! try an actual economics textbook! anyone that takes info from wiki on real science as fact just shows how stupid they are since ANYONE CAN WRITE WHAT THEY LIKE! i quote adam smith, the father of econimics and u come back with this? ur even less informed than i first thought. it lazy ass people like u that perpetuate the cycle of continued welfare.

  • @freethinking1 n if ur mad that u cant find work, blame the asshole that vetoed keystone xl cuz he cares more about some wetlands than letting u earn a living!

  • @gordonottawa99

well, gee, moron, where does the money come from in the first place to buy the means of prduction

  • @ObamaIsAMarxistTowel This coming from the man who thinks Obama is a Marxist. Yeah, I'll definitely take your definitions of political systems under advisement.

  • @gordonottawa99

    ok, look up websters dictionary,IDIOT.

how do you define taking from producers to give to nonproducers??

    capitalism or socialism

  • @ObamaIsAMarxistTowel Why would I look up political definitions in an Amerikkkan dictionary? You're not very bright at all. Not to mention you're a racist piece of shit.

  • @gordonottawa99

    not bright??

my degree is in chemistry, what about yours , retard??

  • Typical degenerate representatives of the stinking OWS crowd. They want to see the country getting its daily Government bowl of soup. That would be FAIR!!!!

  • Lololololol lololol lololol dadadadada trololololol lololol lololol

  • TRAINSS LEGOO!!

  • Just finished watching Atlas Shrugged... Not sure what the hell your talking about. Its a great movie.

  • Just plain STUPID! Not funny

  • Fucking Randroids are the most disgusting species on Earth. I wouldn't cry if Obama sent them to the ovens.

  • @gordonottawa99 LMAO! dont get mad cuz ur useless and dont want to do anything about it.i know 'earn' might not be in ur vocabulary, but is the phrase 'hard work'? u must never worked a hard day in ur life or ud know how it feels when u bust ur ass for something just to have it taken away and given to someone else just cuz they wouldn't or couldn't do what u did. but if u like that shit, there's a simple solution: move to CUBA!! cuz they do that all day long people love it there!

  • @TheMissmax312 I've been exploited plenty, thanks. If you like authoritarian assholes so much you should move to Iran. Illogical arguments, they work both ways, asshole.

  • non-union cast and crew? Sounds like a smart idea to me.

  • @Srd1126 Um, not if you want quality. Look at the quality of the shitty movie with union crew. Still stank because the source material is a bag of flaming dog shit.

  • I love Atlas Shrugged. I also thought this was damn funny. Of course Ayn Rand did make movies, and was darn good at it. But the premise that the free market spanked the Atlas Shrugged Part 1 movie is pretty much right on track. I wish there were a way to get part II made, but I don't think the National Academy of the Arts should fund it!!!

  • The only people who would like this are communists who do not understand capitalism and think the government will take care of them. This video is stupid!

  • Awesome. Except satires are supposed to be funny. Aside from that, awesome.

  • This video is Horrible.

  • employing people to work for you on your movie is collectivism ??

  • @squeeks555 Have you seen the film version of Atlas Shrugged? It's clear that the Director never worked with the cinematographer, who never coordinated with the special effects person. Collectivism does not mean that there is no leadership structure, but simply indicates that a large group must work as a collective, with a singular vision. Otherwise, we have lighting that does not match mood, special effcts that look cheap and out of place, actors following instinct, not direction..

  • @goji2099

what is clear is that the communists tried and succeeded in keeping the film from being widely shown

  • Haha nice.

  • Fmaack. Perhaps you could explain to us all how socialism will save us. Dazzle us with your intelligence.

  • @intellectualgladiata I'm a libertarian socialist. Maybe you should explain how drinking the same poison will save us.

  • I lol my unemployed liberal ass. What next? The Pope selling abortion pads?

  • :D funny

  • sociopath [(soh-see-uh-path, soh-shee-uh-path)]

Someone whose social behavior is extremely abnormal. Sociopaths are interested only in their personal needs and desires, without concern for the effects of their behavior on others.

  • @Ladiestreat It's never been bad to care for or help other people.

What is bad it pledging other people's stuff or freedoms to helping yet other people. First it's not even charity, it's forced, second it creates a lower overall level of prosperity and happiness, and last it's extremely arrogant to believe one or more people afar know better how resources should be spent on an individual who lives every day seeing what troubles they have.

    It assumes omniscience.

  • Ayn Rand is a fascist cunt.

  • @Fmaack Lol

  • @Fmaack and ur a retarded lazy liberal fuck that probably couldn't even earn an orgasm.

  • @TheMissmax312 You neo-cons can only see things in black and white. That might be a sign of mental illness. Nope, I'm not a liberal. In fact I hate liberals. I would equate them with cons. They're not radical enough for me. They pretty much push for the status quo.

  • Your little video actually exemplifies what Rand made clear in Atlas Shrugged. Too bad your government provided education (read indoctrination) rendered you too ignorant to comprehend the movie or the novel.

  • I actually just saw atlas shrugged and your little video here trying to make fun of it is so off base, it was actually a great movie.

  • @kdx200r As an Objectivist and overall fan of Ayn Rand I must tell you that no, the movie was not great. In fact it wasn't good. "This is John Galt Speaking" done here on Youtube is a much more dramatic and poignant portrayal of the book. "Harrison Bergeron" done by high school students is a veritable masterpiece in comparison.

  • Saying "Atlas" is about trains is like saying that "Fight Club" is about soap. Still, the production value of that clip is better than most of the movies on the SyFy channel.

  • Our (meaning conservatives' & libertarians') ineffectiveness of making mass media that teaches people while entertaining proves all the more that the really effective people who are great at film making (i.e. the liberals, not that Ayn Rand wasn't good) have been making brain washing propaganda like the movie "Wall Street" resulting in brain dead protozoa calling themselves Occupy Wall Street.

  • Whenever I see these types of videos and comments it just reinforces Rand's theory. They don't realize the more they whine and complain about this movie that supposedly is not worth talking about the more they resemble the worthless parasites she talks so much about.

  • This video is a mockery and a disrespect. It shows how idiotic some liberals are. These people are scavengers, who make fun of other people's failures.

  • @theantiochisalive they make fun of others' failures because they have no clue what it means to succeed. failure is all the know but dont know how to handle their ignorance...it tragic to a certain point...

  • too bad the movies Ayn Rand made were very successful...

  • lol

  • The commenters are trolls and this was amazing, but the first ten seconds were better than all the rest.

  • I love Atlas Shrugged and agree with most of it's philosophies.....but this is fucking funny. On the nose.

  • Ah, another set of idiots who actually focused on the quality of the movie and its budget instead of the lesson and warning it offered. ahh... Americans...

  • @BlackHatZane hey hey hey....while i admit most are too stupid to realize the meaning, there are still some that believe those warnings are becoming prophesies....FUCK socialism and any of its forms! that book is my top fave and no, i didnt miss the point she was making...

  • How about all the left wingers create their own society, that would be a laugh. In a matter of days they'd devolve back into people that couldn't invent the wheel.

  • @intellectualgladiata Because capitalists invented the wheel, not a collective society. Riiiight.

Randroids have their heads permanently oup their asses.

  • @Fmaack

no, individuals invented not collectives and those individuals went on to sell their superior products

  • @ObamaIsAMarxistTowel Who 'invented' and sold fire? If they used the Ayn Rand model of capitalism there would be a lot of people without heat and we would never have survived as a species. Collectivism, it's been working for 10,000 years.

  • @gordonottawa99

    fire??

i dont know, i do know who invented flight the steam engine and nuclear fission.

    they were individuals

and your collectivism didnt work to well in the workers paradise, did it??

  • @ObamaIsAMarxistTowel it took a collective to keep these inventions alive. Without multiple people working together and RESPECTING each other we wouldn't have steam engines or nuclear fission.

And even the US is collectivist to a sense. A country would have to be completely mad to base everything on the individual. It would a country of sociopaths which is exactly what you psychotic people want. Go form it somewhere then. Just make sure it isn't anywhere near me.

  • @gordonottawa99

oh, so nowyou are changing your story from a collective invented to a collective kept them alive.

yes, in that the capitalist inventor sold his invention

  • @ObamaIsAMarxistTowel collective invented them. Read Julian Janes. There was no sense of individuality at this time. An individual consciousness simply did NOT exist. Human individuality evolved much later.

  • @gordonottawa99

    no individuality??

what a sad degenerate you are?

  • @gordonottawa99

there was alot of individuality , read thomas hobbes LEVIATHON

  • @ObamaIsAMarxistTowel Hobbes is full of shit much like yourself.

  • @gordonottawa99

what a brilliant intellectual libtard riposte

    LOL!! LOL!!

  • @gordonottawa99

    how terrible for you!!

meeting people who think they can run their lives better than government.

bet you wish we had million man KGB unit to watch the proles, right??

  • @ObamaIsAMarxistTowel KGB is a product of authoritarianism. Why would I want shit like that. Yes, people can run their lives better than government can. Could we possibly do any worse than corrupt politicians who are ruled by corporate masters?

  • @gordonottawa99

what do you think the EPA and other gov organizations are for ??

not the environment but for control and to shift people into gov work

  • @gordonottawa99 You have no idea what you're talking about. Honestly. Objectivism creates respect for yourself, and if you can't respect yourself, then how can you respect others? Do you know a damn thing about how the steam engine was invented? Read The Most Powerful Idea in the World: A Story of Steam, Industry, and Invention by William Rosen and educate yourself a little. I've read it twice, cover to cover. You're an idiot if you think collectivism created the steam engine.

  • hahaha fuck you guys!! As much as I hated this video I have to admit that it is funny

  • She wrote hit Broadway shows before she ever wrote a book. One show featured endings that the audience voted on; the pre-cursor to the format for murder mystery dinner theaters everywhere. Ha!

  • Andy Cobb, sitting in your basement with something up your anus watching michael moore (non-union crews, unpaid cast, multimillionaire), and listening to lady gaga wanting to dress like him (lady gaga) get a job biotch and stop living off the government teat sucking up all my taxes. Not that I mind letting you use my military, roads, parks, schools, etc... Oh, tell your hero hofffa who is sucking off the union now bring that war against Americans to me, I will send him to see his daddy asswipes

  • 341 lazy loosers on welfare liked this video

  • It's like the people who made this video don't know what words mean.

  • @tadoubleg reminds me Ayn Rand herself.

  • Collaboration is not equivalent with collectivism.

  • I'm a huge fan of the book, but this is goddamn hilarious. The most recent attempt at the movie was a blubbering embarassment and not even in the same universe as the genuine article. Completely agree with the sentiment here.

  • why couldn't they market the movie better? ... it's still not too late ... there are always DVD, iTunes etc. releases ... I'm sure it will become cult classic even if unfinished ...

  • @TheMrHickam Yeah, and nobody hated the finalized movie more than her.

  • The book is awesome. The movie is absolute garbage. If you have a brain you can see the difference between the two. It's almost as if those idiots made the movie bad on purpose so as to kill the curiosity about the book, so that people won't read it. This book deserved an equally awesome movie, instead of the crap they tried to pawn off as "ATLAS SHRUGGED THE MOVIE!!!"

  • Comment removed

  • "If Ayn Rand made movies, she probably wouldn't be any good at it either." What incredible ignorance on the part of these video makers. Ayn Rand DID make movies; she was a Hollywood screenwriter for some years. Ever hear of the movie "Love Letters?" She wrote the screenplay, and it was nominated for four oscars. Idiots.

  • @tonydonadio I was about to say the same thing. Good to know I'm not the only one with a little common since. :-D

  • @tonydonadio Damn you, I wanted to point that out! I love the way the poor idiot behind this video kept lamenting that Atlas Shrugged was a movie "about train stuff"; I guess his brain isn't above the "about pussy and explosions stuff" level. Rather pathetic.

By the way there is a big difference between forced collectivism and voluntary teamwork. read Wiktionary as well as the Wikipedia before you make your next video, It won't take much effort.

  • @tonydonadio

Rand wrote the screenplay of a novel. None of the nominations had to do with her writing, and it wouldn't matter if they did, because I could film myself shitting in a bag and take every category. And as it happens, the movie sucked ass.

So you're partly right about her "making" a movie, but you're wrong about it being good.

  • @tonydonadio What do you expect in today's vulturous culture? This video is just a typical ad hominem against a philosophy of individual human virtue - as though forced collectivism actually amounts to anything but tyranny. A truly lacklustre video with no substance.

  • @tonydonadio Go watch the Fountainhead, man. It's not that good.

  • @pacifiedfools she hated the fountainhead (film). she had nothing to do with the films production.

  • @pacifiedfools She wrote the screenplay. She said she hated the actors' performances, though.

  • @tonydonadio It wasn't nominated for its screenplay, however, but for acting, art direction, and music. Then, too, the screenplay writer is just one of the many people it takes to make a movie. Film making is a good example of the kind of collaborative undertaking that Rand doesn't quite get.

  • Comment removed

  • @rudeingenue Rand didn't make the film you simple philistine.

  • @chemicalsweet13 I have to admit, being called a "philistine" by someone who admires Ayn Rand's novels made this a special day indeed.

  • @rudeingenue lol I'm glad I could do that for you.

  • @tonydonadio boom! pwned! It wasn't even nominated for its screenplay. 53 retards just upvoted your comment like lemmings, just because you said something positive about their dear leader.

  • Actually, the "Atlas Shrugged Part 1" movie ranked number 3 in sales the weekend that it opened with a limited number of screens - unlike a normal, major, box office movie that opens nation wide. Number 3. :) That's *including* all of the normal, major, box office movies that also opened that weekend. I'd say it did extraordinarily well.
