Burpees will work our upper body as well as parts of your core and lower body while still giving you the advantage of keeping your cardio up. However, there is no substitue in terms of cardiovascular fitness for running. Having a good cardiovascular foundation makes any workout not only easier but more effective. Please keep in mind that running long distance has better cardiovascular implications than sprinting a hundred meters a few times each day.
Sprinting a hundred meters a few times each day is a pretty terrible way to go about anaerobic conditioning. Other than that, an aerobic base is good but it's benefits stop entirely when you start hitting the realm of heavy anaerobic work; i.e. sandbag drills, sledge hammer tire swings, etc.
@TripolisUnited Long distance running isn't as good for your heart as sprinting. It makes your heart actually too efficient, and over time puts greater strain. But if it's necesscary for what you do, you have to do it. Interval training is the best for cardiovascular health as well as weight loss.
Great video, registered as a BWC member today and I've always been hearing that burpees are the best exercise cause it works both upper and lower body.
These variations will be very helpful, but I'm wondering, is it okay to do burpee exercises everyday?
ahh i see, so would doing burpees and skip rope conditioning 15 - 30 min before a main workout routine be okay if i did it almost every day (5 - 6 days a week)?
it would be along the lines of 30 seconds skip rope, 30 seconds as many burpees as I can, repeated over 3 minutes, then rest, and repeat that again and again until its 15-30 minutes... so it's not really typical sets and reps in this case.. but would you recommend an amount of sets/ reps to be done daily?
Strength training builds strength specific to the task practiced. If you only lift weights, you never get strong at the things you all the time: Moving your own body around. This is where it's at.
Fantastic! Neen doing a compound lifting/parkour program the last 6 months. After years of weight lifting I thought going back to body weight exercises was silly, but boy was I ever wrong. I have gained more muscle/tone from this style of conditioning, in combination with heavy compound lifting, than any other program I have undertaken in 7 years of serious training. All the while, i am more flexible, and functional.
Keep up the hard work guys, this stuff will change the world of fitness.
really good vid, was looking for something to shake up my workouts, will make some personal variations but hell is a good base to work from, well done.

You got it man. Thanks for registering.
You can do them every day, if it's only small amount. If you are going to go all out, give it 48 hours to recuperate, before another workout.

Thanks for all ideas! I just did the Burpees and Pushouts against a couch. It's fun, it makes it a little more difficult because of the suspension.
But make sure the couch is standing against the wall! It nearly costs my beautiful smile. :-)
