@chadfromflorida It is a rare one and always seems to be in short supply. Try contacting some of the suppliers in NYC, they always seem to have it available.
How does Pappy Van Winkle compare to Maker's Mark which is also a wheated whiskey? Also, 20 year old expressions in bourbons isn't that common, while it seems to be a much more frequent thing with single malt scotch whiskies. How do you see the quality of 20 year bourbons as compared to similar aged malts.?
@ghampton106 Aged Bourbons seem to becoming much more popular and frequent as drinkers look for more sophisticated tastes and flavours. Of course there are major differences between the two but if it had to be "distilled" down to one word it would be mellow. Ageing seems to make them much more drinkable with more body and a heavier mouthfeel....preferred by us we must admit.
In the video you say that you cut the whiskey down to 80 proof, but isn't it 90.4 proof and the 15 is 107?
Personally I have the 15 year...sipping very very very slowly...just because of how impossible it is to find. :( Here in the Dallas/FW TX the big liquor stores get 1 bottle of each and that's it. So maybe less than 100 total bottles state wide. I know I'll never be able to get it again unless I shell out a fortune on eBay :(
Had to have my uncle call in every favor he has to get me a bottle. Even though he lives in another state, it is luckily within driving distance. I should have it tonight. Can't wait. A Christmas present to myself.
Is that guy crazy?????Even a review of Pappy Van Winkle just a little sip I would of looked passed my manors and done a little mouth wash action and of course whats a bit displeasing would of been gradually swallowing and taking the biggest breathe of air so the alcohol taste gets the full affect.Wow do I sound like a alcoholic?Well I'm only 6 bottles in with Bourbon Whiskey and its that good.
"blitzspeer - I've seen it from $80-150. We sell it for $120 at the distillery gift shop. I would expect it to be around $100. Good luck finding it right now, it is in very short supply and high demand."
Anybody know how much a fifth of this whiskey cost's?They don't sell it in my neck of the wood's but they carry Buffalo Trace but I haven't tried it and is the flavor similar or a completely different profile?Thank you to anyone who knows.
will pappy van winkle be more available anytime soon or are they keeping it elusive? will be nice to see in on a shelf someday before i die
