"Prior to the show's premiere a short animated promo was released which utilized a graphic-style more similar to the graphic design of the games. When the show was being produced, the designs of characters were changed, most likely to better appeal to American audiences"
Is this video that "promo" episode?
As I recall this movie is called "Megaman Upon A Star", and am under the impression that the "promo" episode for Megaman cartoon is different than this. If I'm wrong correctme
When was this released. Who released it? And is this the "promo reel" for the Megaman cartoon series? I heard the promo reel for that looked a lot more anime like than the final design of the Megaman cartoon. So I suspect that this is that promo reel? Or at least the Japanese taking the the promo reel and doing what the Americans didn't do with it, actually making a show that was in the same graphical style as the promo?
@BankaiIchigo12345 This is Megaman: Upon A Star, an OVA(Episodic anime movie if you don't know what it is) released in 1994 by ADV Films to teach Japanese culture, it has little to do with the American cartoon series.
@BankaiIchigo12345 The OVAs were pilots for a Megaman cartoon, but this was before anime became popular in America, so the creators decided to make the show look more American, resulting in Megaman looking the way he did in the cartoon.
@Jesterclown17 Anime wasn't popular in America at this point, and while the openings are action-y, for lack of a better term, the rest of the OVA was more educational, focusing on teaching America about Japanese culture.
@fliqpy0708 wait,if that scene took place in megaman v then why the hell is blues helping megaman? i know he is innocent but megaman pwned gravity man by himself without help. that makes no sense.
Dude, I'm a huge fucking nerd for noticing this...
but the sound effects here are basically those used in the Mega Man Legends games (Rockman Dash in Japan). Like, the impact sounds, the jumping, etc.
What's funny is that this is the best part of the anime. The plot of the episodes themselves just got increasingly boring the more it dragged on, but the intros were like a constant fangasm. I mean, just look at the action... and listen to that damn music!
Yeah. We need a decent english kid-sounding Megaman. (someone that sounds like a 10-year-old boy...and not a surfer) Nothing that sounds like a teenager or anything from the cartoon or the crappy US dub of the EXE anime.
I mean, the voice actor for Megaman in Megaman 8 is decent. In my opinion, the english voice actor for Megaman in MMPU sounds a bit like a surfer.
@MegaMan8778 if we could get that done, we would need unison of many megaman fans old and young alike, i think it would be a great idea, make it reminiscent of great anime like dbz / inuyasha, etc, but we would need a joint group effort, like megaman network, megaman zero boards, megaman fan sites etc.... petition a large enough group and we may see that potential one day
Unbelievably there WILL be a live action Megaman. Only that Megaman will look like Jet Li, and since it is non profit there is no way in hell it will be finished... or good for that matter.
Howdy! So someone has made up that ridiculous message to bother people?! A LIE??!! That's just rude. Why does people lie about that kind of stuff, is it to make people upset? I know I would be very upset if they deleted everything of cartoons that is my entire childhood. And if so, that stupid joke is not funny at all. Even when I get mad at the idiots lie about it, I'm still glad it's not true, though.
Megaman series, capcom always got the music to fit the levels, for example all the "cold" based bosses had levels with music that had a jingle bell (not the song) based sound to it.
U said it, psle06! I love the music of Mega Man too. It's written in my profile, that Nintendo music (including Mega Man), r my favorite music in the whole, wide world. Nintendo will never quite disappear.
Because, it was back when anime wasn't popular or suddessful in US. Not until 1996 When Dragonball Z and SailorMoon were broadcast regularly on cable.
I wish they would have released it around that time.
It actually aired on Public Television. This whole OVA series was produced by Japan's center of foreign relations as a way to introduce kids to Japanese culture. They figured, let's use Mega Man, he's pretty popular outside of Japan. The end result is something that could air on PBS with more action than what aired on Saturday mornings.
Awesome animation and good use of the powers! Anyone else think that the beginning part of the repeating melody sounds exactly like The Chala opening of dragon ball z?
