These movies are more creative when it comes to characters like the cenobites, Freddy, Jason etc. Japanese movies are better at building tension like in the Ring, 1 missed call, and Audition (actaully the Audition is almost on par with Hellraiser in trems of disgust and torture)

But pain can only reach a certain level. So if you torture someone long enough, past the limit, then the pain becomes numb. From that moment on you start to get used to it, and then it can only get better. That's precisely when pain becomes pleasure.
