It's funny to see how standards change depending on the music you've listened to. This sound like lift music with some details copied by the worst Bob Dylan (who in 1965 used to record free form arrangements). And 15 years later. Old doesn't mean "artistic". All over every era we can find commercial stuff and original art, to various degree. As a composer of commercial lift music, I prefer Elton John, by the way.

Perhaps, it is just me, but this melody, is very similar to the melody of the Goo Goo Dolls Song Iris, I noticed it, when I first heard the song, it actually brought me here, because I wanted to see if the similarity was in my head, and it isn't. It does have a similar tune. But anyways, a good song,, both of them. I will never get tired of this song.

old music =/= good music. it just appears that way because only the good stuff lives on, and the garbage fades away. After so many generations only the best are still around so it seems like older music was invincible, which is not the case.

BUT, for the most part, this younger generation cant even recognize which musicians are good and which arent. For example, the Foo Fighters are a good, talented band. LMFAO is not.

I discovered this song just the other day on a MMORPG game called "Whirled". It was beautiful. I wanted to hear it again, so I set the song as one of my game room's BGM.
