  • great! now just add some 21st century fox music!

  • Can i use this please? :)

  • nicee

  • the stars are also outta alinement in background but good....

  • nive video ;-) take a look on my animation too

  • cool , i guess it's pointless critiquing after 3 years. you are probably better than me now.

  • isn`t anyone using same cloud map?? :D:D

    me too :))

check my animation too, i would like to listen some suggestions

  • my olny problem with this animation is, that the earth looks like a steel ball, because it has a very shiny spot, but other than that its great :)

  • You are right. In photos of the Earth from space there really is a shiny spot from reflection off of the water, but it isn't as bright as what I had in this early animation.

    Thanks for watching!

  • @LordKhensu mainly because it needs an atmoshpere, but he did waaaaaaaaaaay better than I did.

  • awsome, where did you get the textures from?

  • I've added a couple links in the video description.

  • many thanks

  • Thanks for the tips, BGenerous.

  • This reminds me of "Heroes"

  • I think they used the same cloud image file as I used here. It looks like the same pattern to me.

  • It looks Awesome

  • GREAT JOB!!!!!!

  • Fantastic job. I am now compelled to swot up on compression settings. Thanks for all the info as well.

  • YOU SHOULD ADD MUSIC!!!

  • Wow! Superb. Good job.

  • hey great job i made one just like that but i used 3Dx Max and i made it at school but i posted it on my profile

  • exellent job! did u use the same kind of animation on the globe in your "One World" video? cuz it seemed to b moving when u had it in ur hand.

  • Yes, this is an earlier version of the computer model of the Earth. The "One World" video uses the same model, but has a number of improvements to the atmosphere and clouds so it looks better.

  • Wonderful :D We on the Moon tonight? x

  • Might wanna soften up the light source. I doubt you can see the suns reflection of the earth so clearly. Just constructive criticism. But other than that everything looks perfect.

  • Now that you point that out, I think you are right. The amount of specular reflection off the oceans probably should be reduced so it isn't as bright as the clouds. I'll have to look for some more Earth photos to check. Thanks!

  • You should make a earth athosphere. Then maybe it will look more realistic.

  • Agreed. One thing I tried had strange render artifacts, probably due to z-buffer resolution problems. Another results in glowing atmosphere even on the dark side. It really requires a volumetric raytracer, which Blender is not! But I'd like to go back and see if I can fake it in Blender.

  • Great job B, I particularly like the way you share your lessons learned. Thanks!

  • Thanks! Let me know if you need something for your Big Bang video.

  • I've found the same as you, I used to use MPEG4 but now use H264.

  • I've heard of a couple other YouTubers that use H264 as well. Sounds like that is usually the best way to go, except in the rare cases where you run into purple oceans!

  • I have a grey film outlining the beginning of my videos, unless I create a white and black contrast at the start. I've found this only a problem with mp4.
