Thomas Allen is just the best Count Almaviva EVER!!! Funny how someone who is, by accounts, sweet and kind-hearted is so convincing playing a man who's imperious, if not mean. Sexy outfit too. Vaness is exquisite and Kathleen Battle has explosive charisma (too bad her nasty personality ruined the game, but oh well).
Strange - that first line did not sound like Vaness; it sounded like von Stade, but I didn't see her mouth move. Anyhow, the comedy in this production is exceedingly ripe, and the cast, well, Vanness is wonderful, Allen dignified, Battle spunky, and Flicka adorable.
I apologize for the confusion. At 0:02, I thought it was von Stade singing, not Vaness - it really SOUND like Flicka! - but obviously now I read the text it has to be Vaness, since it's her door.
LOL i love kathleen in this scene :D especially when she's hiding behind that thing hahaha

Best Cherubino ever.

I just love this trio. And Vaness gives it the right amount of "Don't bother me or i will cut your balls off" to the Judizio lines.
This is, after all, the same Rosina who sings "if you cross me I'll be a bitch."
