This whole episode reminded me of the part of FFVII when Rufus becomes the new president of Shinra, he even used the same music.

On another note I can kind of understand why he abandoned this show, it's not as dramatic as his other works and events happen to quick for the right kind of mood to set in. A great first attempt, but not a great way to get noticed. The thing he probably most regrets is letting some loser finish his work instead of ending it the right way.
