Lol none of you hard headed goons will probably get this correct information through your head but.... When i went stage 2 the gas calculator was saying I was getting way more than the 18-22 mpg that I normally get. when you change the air to fuel ratios in these cars you can pretty much toss out the gas calculator. Only way to get a correct measurement is to fill up completely and reset the trip odometer.... If anyone of you was getting a true 30+ you must have been on the freeway going down
@NikoAndKoopa I have tested it properly, and the trip computer is definitely off. Posted this from a trip a few months ago:
" The last weekend road trip was 450 miles round trip, almost all highway @ 65 mph. I filled up at the same station at the beginning and end of the trip. I used just a touch over 15 gallons. So I was a touch under 30 mpg, when the mpg reading on the car read 33 mpg."
So getting 30 mpg is possible...but man you gotta work for it.
whoever gets stage 2 should put the limter to 6500 and dont cross into red because it doesnt do shit anyway. Shifting fast 2/3 at like 6000 give you a great boost esp with FFS.
bro i have a 11 wrx i got 31mpg on a stage 1 eco cobb tune i was getting 29 on stage 2 eco cobb tune on a reg tune hwy stage 2 i get like 27mpg doing 65
Eric at torqued performance mentioned that stage 2 should get 1-2mpg better by benefit of the less restrictive exhaust...so long as you stay off boost.
I log the mileage of all of my fills (not using the trip computer, but actual odometer vs. gallons to fill the tank) and the best I've ever gotten was 25.3mpg (the trip computer seems to always read ~1.5mpg higher than true) with mostly highway driving. I do have a bike rack installed (noticed a 2mpg drop with that). 33mpg is a stretch.
i would think modifying the exhaust should easily net you better mileage if your careful (shifting around 2-2.5k). the engine will breath better with a less restrictive exhaust and should be a lot more efficient.
im running tp stage 1 and i average 28 in city and high way combined with easy drving and also when i was stage two i still got 27 cruising at 75mph which is when the turbo spools up very easily... lol
you are aware that it takes up to 30 percent more e85 to attain the same air to fuel ratio's as 93? You do not gain miles per gallon on E85, you lose it. The only reason people use it is because its cheaper, its green, and for forced induction vehicles it is pretty much race fuel at the pump. You show me a subaru tuned on e85 that is truly getting 32mpg, i'll come shake your hand. it's not possible..
33 mpg? something is wrong with my car then. I have a stock 2011 wrx 5door and I get 23 mpg highway if I REALLY baby it. Muffler delete and downpipe gut, and tune get you 10 mpg? This is a serious question because I will mod mine tomorrow if it will get me 10mpg.
@rokarion You gotta work for it (accelerate smartly,no a/c, windows up, drive 65, coast down hills, etc...). But 33 mpg is attainable. In fact, if the situation allows, I fold the mirrors in and get 34 mpg.
@SloMo2010Wrx no way. just because your trip computer says 33 doesnt mean your really getting 33. the only way to know for sure is to fill up completely. drive, fill up again and divide the miles driven by the gallons used. you'll be much closer to 23-25 mpgs of real world mileage i bet
@jsmorel86 The last weekend road trip was 450 miles round trip, almost all highway @ 65 mph. I filled up at the same station at the beginning and end of the trip. I used just a touch over 15 gallons. So I was a touch under 30 mpg, when the mpg reading on the car read 33 mpg. So it's surely off to some degree. Impressive mileage, nonetheless.
@rokarion lol my car was doing that and it was a crap 4th cylinder as shown in one of my videos. 5800k and she was a boomer, i love subarus but ever since 08+ their turbo`d motors are the most finicky POS motors on the planet. rod spins, 4th cyl blow. and im sure subaru owners on here will say oh break in period was respected. so before you say anything i will tell you to piss off and respected every single guideline to breaking in a motor. my 2011 wrx (3rd one in 365 days) gets 33 mpg 55mph.
None whatsoever. I've only had it a year, and I don't normally beat on it...but when I do, I REALLY beat on it. Last year, when I was only running Stage1 with the muffler-delete, I went to the drag strip and punched out some 12-second passes, powershifting every gear, every run. The car handled it fine. Of course, I wouldn't recommend doing this every day, and I'm usually easy on it, but its able to handle the occasional thrashing.
The AP Stage 1 & 2 tunes set the limiter at 7000 rpms on my car. Your tune must be different.
As for the gutted DP, it works fine with the Stage2, no problems, no CELs, no hiccups, no boost creep, and the A/F ratios are spot-on. Trust me, it's safe, I made sure of it. I get most of the horsepower that an aftermarket pipe would give, but without costing a dime.
Best of all, I have a 12-second car that gets 33-mpg on the highway...with only a gutted DP, muffler delete and a stage 2 tune.
Ok two things. The stage tunes extend redlined to 7500 and increases boost to around 18 psi from 13.5 psi stock. Also Slow you should really have an aftermarket downpipe with the stage 2 tune.
The rev limiter question was on my mind too.. From stage 2 u can expect about 305 hp and about 295 tq. One reason why i think sti is more worth it. I want simple bolt ons due to the amount i drive. Sti with "stage 2" would give you about 350 hp and 375tq.
Hatch w/ a straight pipe in place of the muffler. Just removing the muffler on the hatches isn't enough because it blows directly at the back side of the bumper. So I made an axleback straightpipe exiting out the of normal place.
It kills me to see you go into the red like that...
