  • The greatest of his era. - and a very humble man

  • John Curry is truly in a class of his own in figure skating. He was literally a ballerino on skates. We will never again see the likes of him. He is sorely missed.

  • Oh just amazing!!! Elegant, balletic, athletic, passionate...John Curry was one of a kind.

  • This performance is kick ass! Young Skaters take note of what you can offer the audience with your skating. I wonder if skating will ever return to its former glory?

  • Absolutely adore his interpretation of the music. Breath-taking performance..

  • Wow I can't believe it's the first time I saw this performance. Truly brilliant.

  • Wow, what a body! He was amazing!

  • BREATHTAKING.

  • Beautiful

  • This is pure brilliance in motion.

  • Hey, young skaters: this is REAL skating; forget the jumps. Take lots of ballet class and work on your placement, epaulement and balance.

  • Speechless. It's been a long time since a skating performance left me breathless. The stretch and intensity is inspiring. The flow and movement over such small ice is remarkable.

  • Hey Floskate where oh where did you find these videos???? thank you for sharing them.

  • WOW!!!! My chin dropped when I watched this! Absolutely stunning!!!!

  • It's disheartening to discover that no Curry performances are currently available on DVD. Will his legacy be lost? It certainly isn't much evident on today's Olympic ice. One realizes that Olympic athleticism in skating just means flash, and a few gestures of "yearning" thrown in between the jumps suffices for artistry. Curry built on precise footwork and control to support an imaginative and meaningful vision. That's a true melding of athleticism and artistry.

    Bravo!!!!

I'm holding up a lighter right now, for that.

    I propose a DVD of Skating 101.

John Curry will feature in it quite a bit.

  • The most beautiful thing I have ever witnessed. Thank you for sharing.

  • At 3:09, the dedication to this ina bauer is extraordinary...as in so beautiful, it's spiritual...but this is John Curry's brilliance....the seamless masterpiece of bodyline and musicality....but really, his skating transcends language that is spoken. Sorry I gushed so much, but I could watch his skating all day...it's magical.

  • Still amazing after all these years.... thank you for sharing...

  • A faster-paced number than his "Afternoon of a Faun," yet did you notice that he only does two jumps? The rest is spins and footwork. As I noted in the other video, he wasn't flashy; he went more for control than dazzle. That camel-spin at the end --- which he does as slowly as he dares without falling off center -- THAT is a statement in itself. That is what made Curry Curry. We'll probably not see his like again.

  • @passionofpersephone

I agree with your last sentence. Today they would give that a low grade of execution or something, saying it wasn't fast enough, or because he doesn't do ten variations on the spin in 5 seconds. Don't mind me, I'm just angry at the direction skating has turned.

  • John Curry's interpretation of "Scheherazade" was, and still is, the best by any figure skater ever.

  • simply exquisite.

  • This is so grrrreat! Thanks, floskate! :-)
