  • I've been going to Hershey with my family since '93 when I was about 3 years old..I'm 20 now, and I miss this version of the ride so much. Everyone who was able to experience this actually learned something about chocolate, now when you go on this ride, you lose brain cells.

  • I used to ride this ride with my grandparents all the time back in the early-mid 90s. Thanks so much for posting this!

  • i miss the part when the cows would go smooooth!

  • im only 10 i cant belive it was like that

  • Thank you so much for posting this! Our kids loved going there and it brought back wonderful memories :)

  • This was the version I remember the most growing up....Down with those stupid singing cows

  • I wonder how many kids have jumped out cause they thought it was real. Also, I love how they boast that it was never touched by human hands. Lol

  • I vaguely remember this version. I remember the version from the late 90s and early 2000s. The current singing cows is ok, but the older ones were better.

  • Here's my friend the kisses that is bending down.

  • Pennsylvania isn't that fun...especially not the area I live in. But I live like 15 minutes away from Hershey so it's all good! It's really a great town.

  • i was like in my moms stomach when i went

  • Memories <3 :')

  • I always liked this one a lot more then the one they have now

  • Thanks for 10,000 views!

  • This brings me back! Thank-you for uploading!

  • Okay, THIS is the version I remember from when I was a kid. i went here about once a year growing up. So, is the 70's looking computer console with all the blinking lights a left over remnant from the robot version? Looking at it now, it definately seems out of place with the rest of the ride, but I never questioned it as a kid. I never actually saw the robot version in person (as far as I remember) but I think I'd prefer that over the Cows. They're so annoying. Love that song at the end!!

  • This video is I believe the third version of the tour. The first version had a "test kitchen" at the end and around 4:30 of this video it showed chocolate mixing not spinning lights. The second version of the tour (around 1988) was based on a space robot. The robot version of the ride was a lot worse the the current singing cows.

  • This is what I remember before I moved out of the area in 1988. I heard the new version is not as good.

  • damm man long ago

  • Wow, this brings back memories. Last time I went here was in 1992 so this is exactly what I remember. I need to go back--it's only about 2 hours from DC :)

  • What year was it updated after '91 and before the singing cows?

  • @aerostella Not exactly sure, but I think it was either 1997 or 1998. That update was fine, but the new one is unacceptable!

  • Thanks for posting this. Funny enough, this isn't even the original ride. This is the "fix" after they had an alien (from outerspace) take you around and it was completely stupid. I remember when there was a huge ship and a giant "dollhouse" at the shipping port. Even the animatronic guy pulling the donkey. That version of the ride was my favorite.

  • @swordchickmom Well, in my opinion they need a "fix" for the current version. Would love to see a full video of the previous version.

  • @PinballBrendan There is :)

  • Then during the Halloween time, the hershey bar would jump out and yell "boo!" Good times... Even when they changed it up and added Midway America to the park, it wasn't that bad. Now the park just pretty much has changed. The Canyon River Rapids are gone, the chocolate world tour ride sucks and is extremely childish, it costs an arm and a leg to get into the park...

  • Not to mention now they have taken out the bucket wheels which was pretty much their signature ride... Good job Hershey Park...

  • @jc013 Yea, it's changed quite a bit, but there are still parts of the park that have remained themselves, like Comet Hollow and Minetown, which remind me of the good ol' days.

  • thank you so much for posting this video. i was born in 1991 and ive gone to hershey park every year with my family since about 94, so ive seen this ride change over the years from how awesome it was in this video to the piece of junk it is now.

  • @bmxrider13 Yep, couldn't agree more.

  • I remember getting a free hershey bar after this ride. The oven part was soo hot.

  • Thank you so much for posting! I needed to reference this tour during dinner and voilà! You had it! Such memories! Remember the update when they had the talking robot in each car??? Lol

  • By the way, this is as far back as I remember the ride, the first time of me riding it in 1989 during Candylane, although I was at Hersheypark once before that in 1986.

    I'm assuming you're a big Hershey fan like I am! lol! :)

  • But oh yea, I disagree about the cows... they gotta go.

  • I'm a huge Sony fan!!

  • I have videos of this version in its entirety from 1994 / 95. 1995 being the first year with the on-ride photo camera installed. I also have short clips of this version from 1989, 90 and 96 and full versions of the last version (1998) and the current version. IMO, I miss the version the most out of the last two updates. But I find the current version not to be bad at all. I like the cows, they make it fun!

By the way, I'd LOVE to see the Hersheypark footage! You "must" get it up ASAP!! lol!

  • Yes, I am a big fan, lol. I think I've seen some of your forum posts related to HP around the net. I've been going there every summer since 1989 (at which point I was 1 year old). I might be able to get the other footage up over the holiday break, it's good stuff.

  • UGHHH this is so much better than the new one.

i miss it, i grew up here and i was really upset when i heard they changed it around

  • Yea, the newest version is awful. The update that they did in the late 90's wasn't bad, but yes, this version is my favorite.

  • Thank you so much for posting this i loved this ride before they renovated it in 06. I practically grew up on it going every year multiple times sine i was born in 90' i absolutely love the song at the end of the ride. thanx again

  • You're welcome! I was 3 when the video was shot (you can hear a little kid voice every now and then, that's me). My dad shot it with an old VHS video camera.

We have other Hershey footage that I'd like to add eventually, including footage of Hersheypark's mini golf before it was removed.

  • Yeah i did hear the kid in the background. :) I was overjoyed though after i listened to the song at the end, it took me awhile too to find this one cause i had to find out when the renovations occurred to get a video of before that. I also posted it on facebook so my family can hear it too they miss the old ride too. :)

  • Yeah, the new one is pretty lame.

The one back in like 1998 and stuff was the best before they changed it to the singing cows.

But you still get the free chocolate at the end. (:

  • why the fuck did this get only one star?

  • I liked it when they had the Hershey Kisses everywhere the new version is not as good

  • Ahhhh the oven part scared me as a little kid. "What if we get stuck?"

  • oh my god this jingle! how can i make this my ringtone!??!

  • Man do I miss that grand orchestral music in the beginning.

  • WOW...old skool!! lol yea now they have cows or something, i was there last year and going there this summer!!! I love hershey park

  • Chocolate World without singing cows...go figure.

It is interesting that after two upgrades some things are still exactly the same...

  • We used to toss reices peices into the conching machine, the rollers, the test kitchen, fucking everywhere. Man those were the days. We loved that place and they messed it all up.

Remember the wall on the ramp with all the photos. The teacher was my science teacher Ms. Moser. A stuck up sexy bitch.

My kids won't know the same fun we had sadly.

Thanks a billion for the memories.

  • Hell yeah ! We used to ride it so many times in 86 and 87. Season passes at home and as a Milton Hershey School student. They went and screwed it up bad with the change. The new one is just horrifying and I refuse to take my kids. Fucking singing cows.

We used to hop out and ride the rail. I got caught the first year thay put in cameras and got taken off the ride. Got a back stage tour on my way out. Man , my grandfather was pissed.

My brother went into the test kitchen part.

  • i have to say that a old version of the ride is very intresting. i live in hershey and im only 14. i remember going to hershey since i was like 2 years old, so i have been through the process in 2006 with them chaning it. to be honest i personally like it better before 2006. i agree the cows have to go:D

  • Yes, education was replaced with entertainment. The tour is more modern now but not nearly as informative.

Anyone remember the Test Kitchen they had at the end of the ride in the 1970s?

  • i know everything about herhsey park/world

  • Then give us some interesting facts.

  • omg the tour ride back when it was still about actually how chocolate was made instead of singing cows. man lots of memories from my childhood. i work there now and the tour ride is so completely different now

  • Yep, the new ride is way too flashy to actually be informative. Those cows have got to go.

  • I am instantly flooded with childhood memories. They are as warm and gooey as the chocolate liquor.
