This song actually incorporates more contemporary elements of Metal with growling and all. I like this because its Queensryche singing but this version of the song appears meant as an anthem for all of the Metal kingdom everywhere.

@TrueIronMaidenFan I disagree. I think it was more than evident that Tate lost much of his range after Mindcrime. He didn't hit many of the high notes he previously did during live shows (ex: high E in Take Hold of the Flame, high B in the Whisper) as well as sustaining notes he did in previous recordings. DIO sounded like DIO almost up until the end. Tate has sounded more and more like Steve Perry since 1990. Listen to "Sign of the Times" and you could swear Steve Perry was singing.

@heashon2000 it is very pointless comment. 1)tate still sing very well, hit all notes perfectly. screams was not and will not be deterministic!! as beginning of the take hold of flame or the whisper. also he rarely give that note in live at early perf. He sing some of song in lower passage when he was at 80s(eyes of the strangers) and he was baritone not tenor! 2) perry has great range and control on his voice! 3)dio never sing high as tate even though dio is a tenor.

@darkdark123 My comments are never pointless. Tate is singing OK, but I wouldn't say "very well". He did not "rarely", but OFTEN hit the high notes on THOTF and The Whisper. Those early vidoes are ALL out here on YouTube. Recent videos show him starting on G in the Whisper and early videos shoe him clearly singing B as he should.

My complaint is that Geoff has to change the melody that us Ryche fans have loved for decades to satisfy his range. It's disappointing, not pointless.

@heashon2000 yes, i understand what you mean but my point is "he doesn't has to hit insane note because of fans. he must sing in tune, all that he must do". also dio or most of good singers even don't sing verses/choruses of most of queensryche songs with style of tate clearity. because most of them are very high. i think it is the most importotant situation. i think point must not be hit the high E/G for to be a good singer. dio never give insane note as tate but he is still very good vocal.
