  • I suppose the highest honor any drummer can bestow upon another is a sobriety based aspersion. So I grant you the title of honorary stoner. nice hands, great phrases, and ideas I may have even inadvertently lifted in the course of my own work. Now where did my drums go? Oh, there they are. :)

  • @rebusd Wow, thank you very much!

  • dave weckle

  • fuck ! this is so awesome !

  • Jeez, Dave Weckle moves right there man ha sweet.

  • Man I respect the traditional grip cats, I haven't held my sticks like that since 6th grade band.

  • This sounds a bit like Gavin Harrison for Porcupine Tree

  • amazing

  • Nice work, Rick! I'm glad that you decided to "crop" this bit. I liked it too. 5 stars.

  • Thanks a bunch.

  • Great job man - this is nice!

  • im diggin this. you should definitely set your ride just a little higher so you can crash it more. it would add such a nice dimension to this solo or any solos like it. your toms are also tuned really nicely. thumbs up.

  • yes...but only if its a "crash/ride"

  • that was kinda implied dude not gonna lie to you

  • ??????

  • when any drummer says crash on a ride it is implied that the ride is meant to be crashed on. its not rocket science i promise.

  • true....as long as the cymbal is a "CRASH RIDE"..THATS MY POINT!!! you seem to feel you know what youre talking about..so i'll assume that you did indeed at one time or another hit a ride like a crach..and if you did...the very first thing that should of came to your mind was..."SHIT!! THAT SOUNDS LIKE CRAP!" hence the reason why they make crash/rides. enough said thank you and good day to you sir lol

  • well actually you can crash on a ride.. and it is used quiet frequently in jazz and other styles, as long as the ride is a light or even medium ride it would sound okay and add a nice dimention to the ride work your already doing.. EX the Zildjian A Sweet Ride.. its not a crash ride but its ment to be crashed on and it sounds alright..

but they are rarely used as a primary crash..

  • you make a valid point. ..understood..thanks.

  • You've never heard anyone ever crash on a ride? It's pretty common. As you can see here, it sounds just fine if the ride is light or medium.

  • @THEpearldrummer Maybe he likes the way he "crashes" his ride cymbal. He seems like he is satisfied with the placement of his ride and his sound, so why would he need this advice?

  • @hiphopsucks96 lol its advice. im not forcing this down his throat; im simply making a claim. whether or not you think it would help him is irrelevant. its all up to him, but i am entitled to my own input. i hope thats not too tough a pill for you, or anyone else who doesnt seem to understand this logic, to swallow.

  • dident mitch mitchell create fusion

  • If you tabbed this madness in gpro 5 you would be godsize and beyond...just sayin...

  • ok cool

  • is that a gretsch renown?sounds pretty daym good..i have a gretsch catalina maple.. tell you the truth i dont hear any sound difference on both sets i think the only difference is renown is more expensive and it has a die cast hoop and silver seal other than that sound the same....

  • jesus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! great fills man

  • Loved it, very inspiring

  • awesome sounding drums even better playing keep it going man !

  • Hey whats your ride? Fantastic Video BTW!!!

  • 20" Evolution.

  • nice ^^

  • Great.

  • Awsome feel man \o/ I have heard a lot of squabble about recording and mics. So is it better to mic whole set, or just using overheads?

  • Thanks. It all depends on quality of equipment, recording program, room, mic placement, etc. I've just been experimenting and go with something that sounds good. I like a little more reverb than most. It seems to sound better when playing over a record.

  • simply incredible my friend.

  • I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • wow u r just so amazing, complete perfection!

question; at around 0:23 when ur letting ur right hand go around the toms, are u playing doubled with ur left hand? thnx

  • Thanks. The part that you're referring to is a combination of singles and doubles.

  • Perfection. Really enjoy listening to this style, keep it up!

  • Thanks. I've been fooling with the Passive cover and just need to find the time to lay it down. I know you've been waiting.

  • what kind of set do u have?

  • It's a Gretsch Renown Custom with a Gretsch crome over brass snare. Check out my channel page for all the specs. Don't forget to subscribe!

  • are those cad mics

  • Yup - it's their four-pack series. Check out my channel page for all of the specs.

  • Well, Rick, I think the title of this video pretty much summarizes it....awesome! I wish I had the chops that you do. You're so smooth and effortless... good work. Glad you made the time for another video, 5 stars!

  • awesome
