Towards the beginning of the film I had my doubts due to it's semi-lagging pace, but once it sped-up and ended, I realized I just saw one of the best films of the year, thus far. It is available at kookíca. This one is not only a compelling and very well made motion picture, it's a throughly enjoyable one as well.
Great acting all around, with effects that supported the movie instead of taking it over. If it's as deep as some of you people think, then I'm clueless. I would love to see it again right away and will on kookíca when I catch some time...

Does anyone know the name of this one film(Heres some stuff that happens in it)-Its about a kid who escapes a Nazi Prison Camp with the help of a Nazi Officer, the kid is I think maby 10-14, walking around by himself in some country,he saved a girl from a shack on fire,and had a flash back to the camp when he stole soap and his friend took it to save him resulting in a nazi shooting him.There was another scene where a guy said he would give the kid food if he smiled.Whats the name of this film?
It ended perfectly... I think it was a brilliant movie. The most moving part for me was when he hugged his dad. He loved his dad and was proud of him, without knowing what he actually did.

Pathetic film! It was so trite and disrespectful. It was far-fetched, unbelievably badly (more than 'woodenly') acted out and was boring as listening to traffic. The director missed the point and spent more time filming the new house and the move to it, that he didn't concentrate on the boys, who only met 4 times in the entire film! If the same director had directed 'Jaws', I bet he'd have called it 'Octopus'.
Well all the problems you have seem to have to do with the film. You should really read the book then. I never saw the movie, but, now that I read the book, I really look forward to seeying it in image.

I am a German born American citizen, and I just saw this movie and was numb. I understand why my mother told me it we can never be proud to German again. I know alot of German history, culture, and of the many accomplishments of Germans. But it all seems like a grand delusion that turned into hell on earth at the hands of the Nazis.

I don`t know about this movie the way they did it. A lot of people out there who are anti-semetic are going to use this movie as an excuse to say "Look how the evil Jew kid tricked the Arayan kid"... I mean really, that`s what this movie looks like if you think about it. It would have been a much much better movie with a stronger message if Bruno broke into the camp on his own to look for his friend Shmuel rather than Shmuel asking him to help look for his father.
Did it occur to you that there were more ways of killing prisoners used than gas and cremation!! They also used the firing squad, death marches, lack of clothing/nutrition etc. As for the bodies, in the work camps do you not knw what they had the majority of the prisoners working on? DITCHES. i'm sure you've seen photos of the mass graves found by soldiers. as to the nazi's allowing these atrocities to be witnessed if you planned on all of them being dead anyway would it matter what they saw?
If you read wikipedia now it says 6million jews died in the holocaust, but a further 6million polish, gypsies, blacks, gay men and political members were also targeted and killed. This did happen. Ive been studying the Holocaust (particularly Auschwitz) for years. Believe what you want, but history cannot and WILL NOT be erased. It happened, and with attitudes like some of your's, its most likely to happen again.

Simple question, why have the total numbers not been revised since Auschwitz revised their number eliminating half of the supposed Holocaust eg. 3 million people? Look at the wiki article, it lists the numbers presumed dead from each camp, add them up for yourself and see the number comes no where close to 6 million.

In the Holocaust Museum in Auschwitz-Birkenau there is a detailed list of names of prisoners. Women, children, everyone. But, And a BIG but, was that not all prisoners were noted down. People were imprisoned without documentation. SO the figure is anything and everything over six million. Fact.

There were gas chambers but their design could not have been used for mass execution of people. They used them as delousing chambers, which was the intended purpose of ZykloneB.
Hair was shaved to combat a lice infestation, obviously they could not shave everyone's head on the same day, and keep the heads shaved. Besides the lice would be living in the bedding and the clothing. Lice are hard to get rid of, and their delousing chemicals were not what they are today. You do not know history. Hitler did end the depression in Germany. Hitler and the National Socialist German Workers party were Nationalists, meaning that they believed in Nationalism. Other countries did not want to take the Jews including the USA and GB.

You can't believe everything you are told. Lice weren't a problem in the camps because when people got there their hair was shaved off. Women included. Yet why, if there was no way for someone to have lice did they have gas chambers I wonder? TO KILL PEOPLE. People were killed in the camps because they were weak, old, young, they acted up, or maybe they were just sick or injured. This is no fairy tale. It happened. Sometimes they were cremated and other times they were buried. Various issues arise here such as whether or not the ground was frozen, what effect mass graves might have had on water quality and the spread of disease. Also the issue of expense, in that digging holes for mass graves requires grave diggers. Enough coal was not available in camps to cremate 6 million people according to Nazi records.
Just finished reading the book today. Written in a child's perspective, for teens and up--yet I don't think children reading it will understand what truly happened. Yes the ending is sad, and tragic.

It ended perfectly... I think it was a brilliant movie. The most moving part for me was when he hugged his dad. He loved his dad and was proud of him, without knowing what he actually did.

Pathetic film! It was so trite and disrespectful. It was far-fetched, unbelievably badly (more than 'woodenly') acted out and was boring as listening to traffic. The director missed the point and spent more time filming the new house and the move to it, that he didn't concentrate on the boys, who only met 4 times in the entire film! If the same director had directed 'Jaws', I bet he'd have called it 'Octopus'.

I am a German born American citizen, and I just saw this movie and was numb. I understand why my mother told me it we can never be proud to German again. I know alot of German history, culture, and of the many accomplishments of Germans. But it all seems like a grand delusion that turned into hell on earth at the hands of the Nazis.

I don`t know about this movie the way they did it. A lot of people out there who are anti-semetic are going to use this movie as an excuse to say "Look how the evil Jew kid tricked the Arayan kid"... I mean really, that`s what this movie looks like if you think about it. It would have been a much much better movie with a stronger message if Bruno broke into the camp on his own to look for his friend Shmuel rather than Shmuel asking him to help look for his father.

Did it occur to you that there were more ways of killing prisoners used than gas and cremation!! They also used the firing squad, death marches, lack of clothing/nutrition etc. As for the bodies, in the work camps do you not knw what they had the majority of the prisoners working on? DITCHES. i'm sure you've seen photos of the mass graves found by soldiers. as to the nazi's allowing these atrocities to be witnessed if you planned on all of them being dead anyway would it matter what they saw?

If you read wikipedia now it says 6million jews died in the holocaust, but a further 6million polish, gypsies, blacks, gay men and political members were also targeted and killed. This did happen. Ive been studying the Holocaust (particularly Auschwitz) for years. Believe what you want, but history cannot and WILL NOT be erased. It happened, and with attitudes like some of your's, its most likely to happen again.

We remember history, the past that we were not born in, to know what happened, and therefore not be ignorant enough to make the same mistakes again. That is why we remember. Something like the Holocaust is to be remembered, it was so tragic, so un-necessary that if it was to be repeated, we as a whole would know the human race are monsters.

Simple question, why have the total numbers not been revised since Auschwitz revised their number eliminating half of the supposed Holocaust eg. 3 million people? Look at the wiki article, it lists the numbers presumed dead from each camp, add them up for yourself and see the number comes no where close to 6 million.
There are some true stories about the supposed Holocaust, mixed in with the lies. The goal of historians is to figure out exactly what happened, while propagandists not so much

This is very true. The figure of "six million" dead in the holocaust is based on the facts we have through documentation. The list of prisoners signed into the camp. In the Holocaust Museum in Auschwitz-Birkenau there is a detailed list of names of prisoners. Women, children, everyone. But, And a BIG but, was that not all prisoners were noted down. People were imprisoned without documentation. SO the figure is anything and everything over six million. Fact.

The Holocaust was a typhus outbreak in German concentration camps, it was not systematic murder. There is no evidence for systematic murder, but loads of evidence of typhus, a disease spread by lice which the allies had a hard time dealing with themselves. 30,000 people died AFTER liberation of the disease. Think for yourself, and quit believing everything that you hear.

If you were gassing people, would you allow other prisoners to witness it? Ann Frank died of Typhus and many photographs, aong with Nazi and Allied records indicate a ytphus epidemic. Thyphus is spread by lice, which was the reason for the shaved heads and the gas chambers, to kill lice.
The Holocaust is not entirely a fraud, but much of it is. Since the Jews run Hollywood, its no wonder that their mythology about the Holocaust is a constant theme in films but Soviet genocides, never.

2. Yes, survivors of camps and making up stories and repeating stories that they have heard. If you were a Nazi would you allow prisoners to know what was going on, or would you do everything possible to conceal what was happening? People were dying, and I am sure they saw dead bodies but bodies are proof of nothing other than the fact that people died.

Where is your proof that big foot does not exist? You cannot prove a negative, the burden of proof is not on me, its on you and everyone else who believes this stuff. Anne Frank died of the disease, that is a known fact, so did many other people. Who died in the supposed gas chambers and where are these gas chambers? Why to the alleged gas chambers have no traces of cyanide? Why are there no bodies with traces of cyanide poisoning? How dd the camps burn so many without enough coal?

Point being positives can be proven, negatives cannot, usually. The Nazis were not innocent bystanders. They did lock the jews up in concentration camps, and they were not able to control the typhus outbreak. There is no evidence that they ever gassed a single jew, and survivors are unreliable witnesses because it is irrational to assume the Nazis would allow a people they wished to control see them commit genocide. It might have happened, but there is no evidence.

There were gas chambers but their design could not have been used for mass execution of people. They used them as delousing chambers, which was the intended purpose of ZykloneB.

Hair was shaved to combat a lice infestation, obviously they could not shave everyone's head on the same day, and keep the heads shaved. Besides the lice would be living in the bedding and the clothing. Lice are hard to get rid of, and their delousing chemicals were not what they are today. Samething happened at Andersonville during the American Civil War.

He gave them hope that poverty and sadness would no longer exist. He also made them believe that Jews made them lose the war. They didn't want the Jews to leave. They didn't let the Jews leave. You do not know history. Hitler did end the depression in Germany. Hitler and the National Socialist German Workers party were Nationalists, meaning that they believed in Nationalism. Germany for Germans. The Jews like the Gypsies were not Germans and they were encouraged to migrate and given the opportunity to sell their assets and leave with all their wealth. Other countries did not want to take the Jews including the USA and GB.

Gotta show that "millions" of people died. I do not believe that even 1 million died. Most of those who did die, did so because of disease, suicide and towards the end, after supply lines were cut, starvation. Same thing happened to POWs in Andersonville during the US civil War. Hoess' confession is so absurd and filled with so many inaccuracies it was like he was intentionally lying as a clue for future historians. Still no functioning gas chambers.

You can't believe everything you are told. Lice weren't a problem in the camps because when people got there their hair was shaved off. Women included. Yet why, if there was no way for someone to have lice did they have gas chambers I wonder? TO KILL PEOPLE. People were killed in the camps because they were weak, old, young, they acted up, or maybe they were just sick or injured. This is no fairy tale. It happened. Go ahead and believe your own "theory", But you're only fooling yourself.

If lice and typhus were not a problem then why did 30,000 people die of the disease AFTER the liberation of Belsen by the Allies?
Living conditions in the camps were very cramped, and there was no way that they could not have had a problem with lice infestation.

Sometimes they were cremated and other times they were buried. Various issues arise here such as whether or not the ground was frozen, what effect mass graves might have had on water quality and the spread of disease. Also the issue of expense, in that digging holes for mass graves requires grave diggers. Enough coal was not available in camps to cremate 6 million people according to Nazi records.

Just finished reading the book today. Written in a child's perspective, for teens and up--yet I don't think children reading it will understand what truly happened. Yes the ending is sad, and tragic.
