I kinda agree on the Koren Grind thing, it gets boring after a while BUT, you do the exact same thing in other mmo's depending on the genre. If you don't level up you boost X stat by Y value, and in most of the games you've shown in your video, have some stat being boosted.
Guess what someone that wants a high X stat will do? :D repeat the same levels over and over again! :)
...Dont you level up in every mmorpg? ...Also I agree about the Korean mmo thing, I've tried like...10, each of them with a generic story, generic gameplay style, generic name...generic monsters...-_- The thing that makes me laugh about those ones is that they all have a corny name like "ETERNAL DRAGON QUEST X" or "LUNAROSE DRAGON ONLINE" or something like that...:/
The only two mmos I have ever really had fun playing are guild wars and world of warcraft, more so world of warcraft due to despite what some people would like to say it has great individual storylines combined with the primary storyline.
Have you tried DDO (Dungeons & Dragons Online)? It's not pen&paper, it's realtime and everything is a skillshot (has to be aimed), there is no click and wait, and skill is rewarded. The quests all have a story behind them, grinding is next to nonexistant and what grinding there is, doesn't have to be repeatative. Thinking out side the box can be rewarding and almost every encounter has multiple ways to be overcome. It's an overall good game and 10X better with friends
i can relate to this.. im a MMORPG,Online FPS and RTS addict.. MMORPG always sucks when its your first time with weak armors and weapons.. but it gets better the more power you get in the game.. if your strong and you have patience to get stronger, you'll enjoy it.. and by the way.. ALL GAMES REQUIRES PATIENCE,HARDWORK & ENJOYMENT.. thats game lol
Meh, This doesn't change my mind on playing MMORPGs, it only proves that there are people that don't know what they want, seriously - this guy wants to play not MMO, but single player RPG's like Mario, Zelda etc.
Know what you want, get what you want.
By the way, every game is hard work, it depends from what view you are looking.
I really love your video man! U r totally same as me! VINDICTUS is out to Europe and before Vindictus,i played Dynasty Warriors online...but my only 1 problem in DWO is the party system :/ dunno why,but me and my bro cant go to the same battles, cant trade items,etc...so why Online? O_o but i love it! and now...Vindictus 4ever! (Yes i said this after 100 or more mmorpgs like that "Korean shits")
@PrinceRyssan You have to organize a party in a town before going to battle in DWO =p And you can trade items too, I believe. Also you can trade using an auction NPC. Thanks for the response, though I think that I didn't put all my thoughts into this video =p
I wonder if all these are international games ? i mean if i can play them from anywhere ? Because some games can only be played only in USA for example. Thank you again.
@sazallazoum Well, things changed since I made this video, so some games don't exist, some became worse and some are IP limited. But there are still many options to play better RPGs than level-grinding ones. If you download a game and start in the middle of a city and see only quest NPCs, other cities with meadows filled with spawning stupid monsters attached to them, better quit this game and find something different.

@Benzel115 Most people wouldn't take this crap if it was any other genre, any game where I have to dump in dozens of hours of grinding just to get to the "good part" (The endgame), is no game for me.
@sega7 I dont really see it that way. Grinding is kind of relaxing and rewarding while you dont have to run around for a quest for 20 mins and still havent figured out where you have to go.. I don't like that either. Besides, most quests are just an excuse for grinding anyway. I think it's more fun if it's challenging though, this vid only shows one side of the whole thing.
oh GOD how I agree with you! do you have any suggestions for a game like Dungeon Fighter??? it looks good but for some reason it won't work where I am :(
@UniverseStar try TwelveSky2 on mayngames(dot)com its a grinding game but if ur skilled in pvp u can lvl up ur self by that easily and its actually fun ^.^
@UniverseStar really awesome video man and if you're looking for a good mmo try pirate galaxy it does not require u to grind just be a good navigator,
@UniverseStar Guild Wars 2 is the MMO we have all been waiting for. Dynamic combat with active real time dodging. Dynamic events/quests. Deep personal story for each race.
@astrodonunt Nexon only allows players from North America to play sadly. Yes Elsword is an AWESOME game! The best ones I am playing right now are DUNGEON FIGHTER, S4 LEAUGE, ELSWORD, and EDEN ETERNAL
Though technically not a true MMO, World of Tanks may appeal to many MMO Action RPG fans. It uses third- and first-person shooter styles but it is more focused on strategic thinking and tactics rather than who can aim and click the fastest (which sets it apart from many shooters). The game has a tech tree progression system, as well, but it consists of unlocking new vehicles and upgrades rather than assigning skill points.
You are right mate, mmorpg, expecially korean f2p games are all like this.
But thing will be better with games like Guild Wars 2, Tera, Blade & Soul and Raiderz, are all action games like Vindictus and Dragon Nest (and not lobby games). Surely the concept of killing mobs through repetitive quest still but i noticed that in these new games you can reach end game in a reasonable amount of time and as end game achievement you can take part in massive pvp, raids and sieges. Better than nothing. :)
i watched the whole video of urs. yes i agree that grinding and all that stuff is boring, but as i usually say, to each his own. i used to play a game called pirate king online. fun game, or at least it used to be fun. now GMs all corrupted, and a few players are owning the game. any game u would recommend? i prefer games with strong communities, which emphasis on teamwork to accomplish something.
If you like action MMORPGS, where YOU have to do the skill n all, then I suggest looking out for Spiral Knights when it opens. Made by Three Rings(Also the peeps who were behind Whirled, PP, and them other games), A 2d/3d-ish Dungeon crawler type, party up to 4 players I think, so and so. Do keep an eye out for it if you want. But I can assure you it'll be an Action/Adventure MMORPG.
If any1's wondering, Maplestory is a MASSIVE grindfest. It's only click combat click. Even if it is partially real time action its no diffrent than any other grind. Don't waste your time.
try darkfall online, no levels minimum grinding, and only having fun pvping and hunting epic monsters with your guild, allso i play one of those boring korean mmos, what you need to do to make them fun is to download a bot and then u let the game play itself and within 24 hours youve killed thousands of monsters ;D
I completely agree with the video need skill based mmorpg demon souls was decent for ps3 but not mmorpg need ot make a game where u have to make ur own ability and actually learn to fight to win not press A FOR EPIC SKILLS
dungeon fighter really is fun but it really does end up being a grind later on, u just end up having to run the same instance over and over i honestly can't stand most mmorpgs either to be honest except WoW for reasons that i really just don't know, but yeah the grinding is what turns off the game like perfect world sheesh those games are rediculous. mmorpgs most aren't so great action rpgs are almost always fun for a longer time then mmorpgs but grinding is almost inevitable now adays
@UniverseStar you got that right..Trickster online has the best graphic style i have ever seen..to bad the game is so easy to screw and that item shop imbalances everything :/ I need a game that is like trickster and not ragnarok 1 :(

Im tired of These leveling games also. You have a point. My gaming Cycle is Pretty simple, Train on monsters, Lagg, Die, Respawn in town, Go back to training place.
This Game Sound Familiar to people? Tales Of Pirates :| And people hardly talk on there so its even more boring.
ya, i like this video.. and i also like to seek a realistic MMORPG.. should be action MMO.. i like SAVAGE2 but that's not MMORPG. i like Coloseum : Road to Freedom which it is manually to dodge, parry and block.. i like Mount and Blade but not MMORPG.. can u list any of this gameplay type which is MMORPG.. to suck with grinding.. if can, list the MMORPG game with Manually Evade, Parry and Block (SHIELD).. thanks.. glad to hear the answer from you.. thanks for posting this video
Neoxon should really get their shit together and release DFO and Vindictus to EU. Luckily they've announce the latter, but the fate of DFO is still unknown on our continent. It's a damn shame Infinity Online was shut down. I didn't even had a chance at it.
You do know that in the end, all games have some sort of grinding mechanic? Games like WoW and other MMORPGs wave it around as to be blaringly obvious, while other games cover it up with cheap gimmicks, such as removing auto-attack. In the end you're still spamming buttons to get "loot" and do "quests". There are three types of MMOs: PvE, PvP, and ones that incorporate both. In the end you're either killing something or someone and no MMOs can or will change that.
2D games = Crap sorry, you can disagree, but it's 2011 3D games are the norm, sure it makes 2D games unique. But Unique isn't always "Good".
Top Down MMO's = Crap as well, nothing is more frustrating than playing an advertised 3D game where the camera has something against going more than a quarter down the screen.
PSO Is HORRIBLY repetitive, Dynasty Warriors Online is not only HORRIBLY repetitive, but the interface and controls are utter crap. Infinity online has shut down.
@808Productionz 2D is not a disadvantage, it's just a style. And time is not the thing to blame. Sometimes it's better to see accurate 2D graphics than crappy 3D. Especially when it concerns anime games (2D anime is always cuter than 3D anime, ask anyone).
@UniverseStar I never said it was a disadvantage, just that it isn't appealing, I don't see the fun in playing games where the character's only purpose is to swing at things and walk left and right. I wasn't blaming anything. I'm just saying, it's 2011 the year of 2D side-scrolling games was over a decade ago.
@808Productionz It's not the "problem" of 2001, it's your skewed view at games ;]
2D is great and it's coming back big time. about 50% of the games on my PSP/PS3 are 2D, and those are new, fantastic games. Like Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Company's make a lot of cash just by bringing some old-school 2D classics to current gen (HD). I'm guessing you are very young and spoiled by 3D.
2D 'Was' great, before 3D, 2D is now just a lazy way for developers to put minimal effort for more return. They make money off the title, you a pokemon fan? They can sell crappy pokemon games and still make money, not because the game was any good, but because you like the series. Sorry, not 'young' just able to recognize that 'Great games' and '2D' together, is hopelessly incorrect.
@UniverseStar It sure doesn't, but it sure does improve how much more interested I will be and how much longer I'll stay interested. There are decent 2D games and there are a lot of crappy 3D games, but let me ask you, what would you rather play? Maplestory on max or AoC, Aion, LotRO, Eve online, etc on max? Personally I prefer the latter.
@808Productionz Well finally, a key word: "personally". If you really think 2D graphics are "easy way" then you have no clue. I'm a graphic designer, I do both, I know. I'd rather make skeletal animation over frame-by-frame pixel-art. It's 3x less time consuming.
@808Productionz All the games you just stated are all grind ones ass. Were talking about actually PLAYING HERE instead of playing like a friggin bot and clicking.
@UniverseStar i agree games should have good graphics but does not mean they have to be the best... 2d graphics can be really well done look at a mario game or the new kirby game (even though i do think it kinda sucks since you can't die in it) the point is game need to be about gameplay first and how long you can play it without doing the same boring thing
@808Productionz - 2D (and console in general) is just more simple, has simpler more condensed controls. I prefer gamepad over keys and mouse. If there was an MMO that could be played entirely by gamepad, had one single simplistic menu that you could access everything from, no chatting (or if needed, voice chat via mic/headset) and had instantaneous REAL TIME attacks instead of auto-target or turn based, I'd love that... cuz then it'd actually be FUN.
@WiiClassic2usb Phantasy Star online series (PSO, PSU and so on) have this feature (you can navigate in menu only using gamepad), except they are 3D, and you have to type to those who don't have a mic.
@UniverseStar - I don't mind the 3D part, I just want action based combat and to be able to play the game fullscreen'd on my TV via Svideo out (maybe have a font size inscrease also), and do -everything- via the controller. Phantasy Star, sounds familiar... was that on PS2? I think I may've played it once at a friend's.
Well the list was rather disappointing.. Dungeon Fighter is closed to north america only. Lunia was great the time i played it (altough it is really lacking end-game). Vindictus is also north america only. Dynasty Warriors was really disappointing, its too repetitive. And I haven't played the rest... But I was hoping for something better :(
Try playing Vindictus. I know this is probably too late, or this has already been said, but meh. Vindictus offers real time gameplay. Like dodging, combo attacks, sprinting, and all the little stuff like using things on the ground as weapons, throwing spears, even fishing is in the game..... Anyways :O Give it a try, :P Im sure youd like it.
I've played that crapfest of an MMO for a 3 weeks, you moron. It's just a room based (on the ship) grindfest where you do the same stage 10 times to progress in the boring, repetitive quests which requre you to do the sam thing all over again
LOL! Are you really this retarded? Vindicktus requires little or no skill. I was about lvl 20 repetitively hacking and slashing through equally repetitive dungeons and monsters. It's probably one of the WORST mmorpgs in existence.
@Bomber0907 im done with you, your the basement dwelling kid swearing at me every 2nd word. there will always be clueless haters for every game out there your just another troll, bye nerd.
lolololol so what? Vindicktus is still a shitty grindfest with the same quests which pretty much ask u to collect XXX items or kill XXX monster. the game has no story so theres no role playing involved...just like Maplestory
ur pretty much doing the same 10 dungeons over and over again until you get to the next dungeon where you have to finish it 20 times and den another dungeon where you have to do it 20 times over lolololol fail
the video uploader's list of reccomended games is pretty shit too. There's a 99% chance that all of them are going to be shitty cash-shop whoring grindfests like GAYPLESTORY just with better graphics and gameplay
Now, HERE'S what I can reccomend:
1. Guild Wars 2 (releasing this year)
2. Star Wars: The Old Republic (releasing this year)
@MrCocksuckerJoe Rift and Star Wars are exact definitions of what this video is denouncing. Tera is the only thing worth looking into on that list if you're looking for action in an MMO.
@TauOverlord Vindictus becomes a grind later on, when you reach ecrtain levels. Also the issues with getting certain items from certain mobs a real pain in the ass later, especially when getting materials for equips. Since dungeons are instanced, and the drop that you want is from the Boss mob, you have to play that dungeon over and OVER again for a shitty drop rate. So while it is full of action and you do feel like youre playing an action game, its still a grind, and in some ways worse......
Hi, nice video... I'll find a mmorpg game very long, with much equipments, with horse or other, with pvp, with dungeouns, with much skill and have a realistic high-quality graphic. Please send me a PM... (From ITALY)
SOLUTION : If you don't like the competitive PvP the Dungenos and 1337 gear and farming go play single player role playing games such as Oblivion , Gothic , Fallot ..there you can solve quests , riddles and do interesting quests..video makes sense but has alot of stupid suggestions for games to play..
Some great video content here. If any of you guys want some FREE training on how to MAKE A LIVING ONLINE & OFFLINE, then check out my channel for the latest free information.
Thanks for making this video. It was informative, insightful, and plain out funny. It does seem that MMOs as of late have been changing to the tune to more action based combat, which is a big plus.

@astrodonunt Elsword maybe

@UniverseStar try TwelveSky2 on mayngames(dot)com its a grinding game but if ur skilled in pvp u can lvl up ur self by that easily and its actually fun ^.^
TheYuri1212 8 months ago
@UniverseStar really awesome video man and if you're looking for a good mmo try pirate galaxy it does not require u to grind just be a good navigator,
or try 12sky2 martial arts mmo rpg
TheYuri1212 7 months ago
@UniverseStar Guild Wars 2 is the MMO we have all been waiting for. Dynamic combat with active real time dodging. Dynamic events/quests. Deep personal story for each race.
MichelKerkmeester 6 months ago
@astrodonunt Nexon only allows players from North America to play sadly. Yes Elsword is an AWESOME game! The best ones I am playing right now are DUNGEON FIGHTER, S4 LEAUGE, ELSWORD, and EDEN ETERNAL

@astrodonunt Three Kingdoms Brawler is a carbon copy of Dungeon Fighter, yet anyone can play it, so I guess it's the best alternative xD

mistery836 8 months ago
Though technically not a true MMO, World of Tanks may appeal to many MMO Action RPG fans. It uses third- and first-person shooter styles but it is more focused on strategic thinking and tactics rather than who can aim and click the fastest (which sets it apart from many shooters). The game has a tech tree progression system, as well, but it consists of unlocking new vehicles and upgrades rather than assigning skill points.
bumblyjack 8 months ago
I'd Recommend Vindictus, it may have abit of grinding but I feel it might make you feel better.
Narutard21 8 months ago
@UniverseStar I'm from Europe, and I'm tired of playing generic & grinding MMORPS!
I want to play something different, the problem is, almost every game on your description is Japanese or US Ip Blocked.
Infinity Online is discontinued, European Lunia too (probably comming on this summer) and Vindictus Europe hasn't come out yet.
I tried WLO and I liked it, but in-game bot isn't action to me.
If you could help me I'd appreciate it ALOT, give me an action mmorpg that I can enjoy in Europe!

ok you just wanted to say ur oppinion in this way and i appreciate it!! good video and i agree in some terms
dotamaster1994 9 months ago
You are right mate, mmorpg, expecially korean f2p games are all like this.
But thing will be better with games like Guild Wars 2, Tera, Blade & Soul and Raiderz, are all action games like Vindictus and Dragon Nest (and not lobby games). Surely the concept of killing mobs through repetitive quest still but i noticed that in these new games you can reach end game in a reasonable amount of time and as end game achievement you can take part in massive pvp, raids and sieges. Better than nothing. :)
Vyurachan 9 months ago
i watched the whole video of urs. yes i agree that grinding and all that stuff is boring, but as i usually say, to each his own. i used to play a game called pirate king online. fun game, or at least it used to be fun. now GMs all corrupted, and a few players are owning the game. any game u would recommend? i prefer games with strong communities, which emphasis on teamwork to accomplish something.

But I can assure you it'll be an Action/Adventure MMORPG.

try darkfall online, no levels minimum grinding, and only having fun pvping and hunting epic monsters with your guild, allso i play one of those boring korean mmos, what you need to do to make them fun is to download a bot and then u let the game play itself and within 24 hours youve killed thousands of monsters ;D

liokov1 11 months ago
dungeon fighter really is fun but it really does end up being a grind later on, u just end up having to run the same instance over and over i honestly can't stand most mmorpgs either to be honest except WoW for reasons that i really just don't know, but yeah the grinding is what turns off the game like perfect world sheesh those games are rediculous. mmorpgs most aren't so great action rpgs are almost always fun for a longer time then mmorpgs but grinding is almost inevitable now adays

HulluKId 1 year ago
You do know that in the end, all games have some sort of grinding mechanic? Games like WoW and other MMORPGs wave it around as to be blaringly obvious, while other games cover it up with cheap gimmicks, such as removing auto-attack. In the end you're still spamming buttons to get "loot" and do "quests". There are three types of MMOs: PvE, PvP, and ones that incorporate both. In the end you're either killing something or someone and no MMOs can or will change that.
Shitspawn 1 year ago
play guild wars =) or gw2

wow dude, nice video, thanks. going to try out that "dynasty warriors" now
says437 1 year ago
Yeah.
808Productionz 1 year ago
@808Productionz 2D is not a disadvantage, it's just a style. And time is not the thing to blame. Sometimes it's better to see accurate 2D graphics than crappy 3D. Especially when it concerns anime games (2D anime is always cuter than 3D anime, ask anyone).
UniverseStar 1 year ago 12
@UniverseStar I never said it was a disadvantage, just that it isn't appealing, I don't see the fun in playing games where the character's only purpose is to swing at things and walk left and right. I wasn't blaming anything. I'm just saying, it's 2011 the year of 2D side-scrolling games was over a decade ago.
808Productionz 1 year ago
@808Productionz It's not the "problem" of 2001, it's your skewed view at games ;]
2D is great and it's coming back big time. about 50% of the games on my PSP/PS3 are 2D, and those are new, fantastic games. Like Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Company's make a lot of cash just by bringing some old-school 2D classics to current gen (HD). I'm guessing you are very young and spoiled by 3D.
InjectedWithAPoison 1 year ago
@InjectedWithAPoison Not really.
808Productionz 1 year ago
@808Productionz Graphics alone doesn't make a game good or bad. I can name great 2D games and crappy 3D ones.
UniverseStar 1 year ago
@UniverseStar It sure doesn't, but it sure does improve how much more interested I will be and how much longer I'll stay interested. There are decent 2D games and there are a lot of crappy 3D games, but let me ask you, what would you rather play? Maplestory on max or AoC, Aion, LotRO, Eve online, etc on max? Personally I prefer the latter.
808Productionz 1 year ago
@808Productionz Well finally, a key word: "personally". If you really think 2D graphics are "easy way" then you have no clue. I'm a graphic designer, I do both, I know. I'd rather make skeletal animation over frame-by-frame pixel-art. It's 3x less time consuming.
InjectedWithAPoison 1 year ago
@InjectedWithAPoison Time consuming =/= Difficulty.
808Productionz 1 year ago
@808Productionz All the games you just stated are all grind ones ass. Were talking about actually PLAYING HERE instead of playing like a friggin bot and clicking.
Darttboyy 1 year ago
@Darttboyy LMFAO You're kidding right? Every single game has some sort of grind.
808Productionz 1 year ago
@UniverseStar i agree games should have good graphics but does not mean they have to be the best... 2d graphics can be really well done look at a mario game or the new kirby game (even though i do think it kinda sucks since you can't die in it) the point is game need to be about gameplay first and how long you can play it without doing the same boring thing
0justarandomguy0 1 year ago
@808Productionz - 2D (and console in general) is just more simple, has simpler more condensed controls. I prefer gamepad over keys and mouse. If there was an MMO that could be played entirely by gamepad, had one single simplistic menu that you could access everything from, no chatting (or if needed, voice chat via mic/headset) and had instantaneous REAL TIME attacks instead of auto-target or turn based, I'd love that... cuz then it'd actually be FUN.
WiiClassic2usb 1 year ago
@WiiClassic2usb Phantasy Star online series (PSO, PSU and so on) have this feature (you can navigate in menu only using gamepad), except they are 3D, and you have to type to those who don't have a mic.
UniverseStar 1 year ago

Preach brother preach lol. Gotta agree with most of what your'll saying hopefully some of the "next -gen mmo's" will incorporate dynamic playing ect.

Try playing Vindictus. I know this is probably too late, or this has already been said, but meh. Vindictus offers real time gameplay. Like dodging, combo attacks, sprinting, and all the little stuff like using things on the ground as weapons, throwing spears, even fishing is in the game..... Anyways :O Give it a try, :P Im sure youd like it.

the video uploader's list of reccomended games is pretty shit too. There's a 99% chance that all of them are going to be shitty cash-shop whoring grindfests like GAYPLESTORY just with better graphics and gameplay
Now, HERE'S what I can reccomend:
1. Guild Wars 2 (releasing this year)
2. Star Wars: The Old Republic (releasing this year)
3. RIFT Online (releasing this year)
4. Faxion (releasing this year)
5. TERA Online (releasing this year)

@MrCocksuckerJoe Rift and Star Wars are exact definitions of what this video is denouncing. Tera is the only thing worth looking into on that list if you're looking for action in an MMO.
RightsOfDeath 1 year ago
@TauOverlord Vindictus becomes a grind later on, when you reach ecrtain levels. Also the issues with getting certain items from certain mobs a real pain in the ass later, especially when getting materials for equips. Since dungeons are instanced, and the drop that you want is from the Boss mob, you have to play that dungeon over and OVER again for a shitty drop rate. So while it is full of action and you do feel like youre playing an action game, its still a grind, and in some ways worse......
