As I understand it they relaid track on some original railroad roadbed. But what railroad was it and how much roadbed is left that hasn't been relaid?
@WhyAyeMann Yes she does - cleanest coal-fired steam locomotive I've ever seen. You get to watch them shovel a load in when they start out as part of the tour.
I live in Yorkshire and fromn a young age I was always fascinated by steam trains. I spent entire weekends at the York Museum and various local railways, and now I'm 18 I'd like to take this passion further, (or revive it slightly at least,)
Has anyone got any suggestions of how to get back into general train-obsessiveness? :D:D
It's not long at all, only about 3/4 of a mile... They make it very interesting, though, and the scenery in certain spots is truly remarkable, with mountain views and overlooks, etc... It's worth your trip.
and I just got back from our trip to PA, we went on the tour again and my Great Grandma told my mom that you could tell the men were working in the coal mine, because the only thing you could see was the whites of their eyes
Great video, Joe! There is more to this place than meets the eye. The RR employees are very friendly and are more than willing to show you around and answer any questions you may have. Definitely makes for a nice day-trip if you happen to be in the area. Highly recommended!
Great video of a neat little RR operation! I've been dying to get up here... but just haven't devoted a day to the place. Though that tea-kettle whistle is a bit annoying.
this is so cool...kinda like a window into the past as far as locomotive technology goes
I used to loooooove trains as a kid

You know, I live in Schuylkill County but have never been to the Pioneer Tunnel... I see enough coal mines without an official tour.
