@Andrea1491to - well to be fair to him it was PR thing BMW was doing in Germany, and last thing he would want is a crash especially when BMW had said that they will not be timing his run.
I think F1 should race here again too. i mean really, all the old F1 tracks became shit after some dude wrecked and started rasing hell about track safety. umm ok well the way i look at it is the tracks were DESIGNED to be a CHALLENGE. if a corner should be taken at 100mph and you try to take it at 150mph just cuz your car is fast and you wreck its not the tracks fault, its yours!! modern f1 cars are purpose built and setting one up for this track would be easy. maybe just add some tire walls.
Nah a little more than run off areas, you can see him lifting off on some straights due to bumps in the surface. F1 circuits need to be pretty smooth so a whole track resurfacing as well as run off areas.
Would be great if they could turn it to life again! Like 'Schumifreak9' said, more safety zones and it should be possible. Nowadays the F1-cars are a lot safer than in the mid 70's. And if I compare the Nordschleife with Spa-Francochamps, Monaco and Canada (barriers close to the track), they are quite similar.
Its the best race course on this planet, and the Formula 1 does not race there. What a shame. If the drivers could decide they would most likely race there. I hope Formula 1 will return on the Nordschleife and set new lap records.
well, there are many courses, best example is monaco gp. it looks hard, but there are a lot of corners to overtake easily, I would say even better than on courses like monaco.
@holymoly2207 Not knowing anything about F1, I would assume that it will never happen again because of safety. He could have gone faster than this if he really wanted to. He let off the throttle a little earlier in the corners than he would have if this was an actual race. I agree though, it is beautiful...and I am a NASCAR fan.
I know the car isn't set up for the Karussel, but there's nothing to suggest that, adjusted, a F1 car could go round a banked corner. I assume the banking was too narrow for the car to avoid scraping the bottom
On 28 April 2007, Nick Heidfeld drove a BMW Sauber F1.06 Formula One car around the Nordschleife, on a BMW publicity day in combination with a VLN 4h endurance race. For safety reasons, BMW announced that the car was slowed with hard demonstration tires, maximum ride height, and 275 km/h top speed limited by the transmission. Heidfeld drove three laps on the combined Nordschleife and short GP-track, as used in VLN races, with a track length of 24.433 km.

hmmm, if this were a track in todays calender, i wonder how many DRS zones there would be..... Something to ponder.

@tophercheese21 Why wonder when they run 24H races around here that don't need a gimmick such as DRS?
On topic though, it would be shitloads :P

And because the Nordschleife is a long track, with lot's of straights the engine would not been able to coop with it.
And don't forget it's a dangerous track.

Should have let Sabine Schmitz have a go in that BMW Sauber.. Makes no difference anyway, as she "could do a faster lap then Nicks, in a van".

Is this the famous Nurburgring? A huge circuit through the forests?
WOW! What a place!!!
