As far as your question, how one can be pro-choice, but not pro-abortion, for me stems from my belief in liberty. We are only as pro-abortion as we are also pro-birth, pro-parenting, pro-adoption, pro-birthcontrol, pro-nfp, pro-celibacy, pro-sexed. We're also sex-positive, and pro-lgbt (although being gay is isn't a choice, expression is.) Not just for women but men as well.
Most of all, we're pro-life because without the freedom of sexual/reproductive choice, people die.

As far as your question, how one can be pro-choice, but not pro-abortion, for me stems from my belief in liberty. Limited government involvement is my preferred way of life, and therefore, while I would not particularly advocate abortion for anyone, I certainly don't think the government should be in on the conversation.

@Pelonetillo roe vs wade which was made up of whole cloth? also based on a lie. the plaintiff norma mccorvey lied when she said she was raped,thus her pregnancy. also prior to roe it was a states rights issue,where it should be today. i would not hang my hat on scotus considering some of their decisions of the past. we eat cows when they are fully grown. a cow and a unborn human are not one and the same.

no, im talkin about the roe v wade that tells you why a woman has the constitutional right to terminate her pregnancy. scotus is pretty reliable. yes, we do eat fully grown cows, and unborn humans are different in that they are not fully grown, cant think or feel, etc. good catch.

@Pelonetillo really? how about that scotus decision on dred scott? was that a good one? or how about the kelo decision a few years ago that said a govt can exercise imminent domain and seize a persons house if they wish for a shopping center? no roe was wrongly decided,there is no constitutional basis for it,and i doubt if you can show it to me.

left to the states? no, thats not what it means; it means just because something isnt explicitly in the constitution doesnt mean it isnt allowed. what is explicitly in the constitution, however, is an amendment that makes antiabortion legislation unenforceable--see roe v wade.

due process clause is the last sentence of section 1, which explicitly mentions due process. via this clause, our right to privacy is protected. think of doctor-patient confidentiality/privilege. applications of medical science, as they have to do with what goes on in ones own body, are a private matter.
