@jammerstud99: I think Smokin' Joe would have beaten Mike too. Not by round 5, but in the later rounds I believe when Tyson is tired and frustrated. It also depends on the ref too. Because Joe would be dropped quite often thoughout the fight, and if the ref gives Joe the benefit of the doubt and lets him continue after each knockdown (Joe Frazier is impossible to keep down on the canvas) then he'll be able to score a late round KO via left hook of course.

Joe Frazier and Tyson are about the same height, and their weight isn't such a huge difference. Tyson was usually best around 216 and Frazier was 215 for Manilla and 214 for Foreman, but the night he beat Ali he was 205. Not a huge difference in weight. Mental toughness, heart, and stamina would probably go to Frazier. I would also pick Frazier to have a superior chin. He stood toe to toe with Foreman and was knocked down 6 times, but got up each time ready to fight some more.

Had Bruno not been such a stiff he could have taken Tyson. Tillis never hurt Tyson. Both Ruddock fights were truly good performances for Tyson. Two of his best but Ruddock was a journeyman. Douglas, Holyfield, Lewis, Williams and McBride are different stories with Tyson never really putting effort into fighting back.

@jammerstud99: I think Smokin' Joe would have beaten Mike too. Not by round 5, but in the later rounds I believe when Tyson is tired and frustrated. It also depends on the ref too. Because Joe would be dropped quite often thoughout the fight, and if the ref gives Joe the benefit of the doubt and lets him continue after each knockdown (Joe Frazier is impossible to keep down on the canvas) then he'll be able to score a late round KO via left hook of course.

Joe Frazier and Tyson are about the same height, and their weight isn't such a huge difference. Tyson was usually best around 216 and Frazier was 215 for Manilla and 214 for Foreman, but the night he beat Ali he was 205. Not a huge difference in weight. Mental toughness, heart, and stamina would probably go to Frazier. I would also pick Frazier to have a superior chin. He stood toe to toe with Foreman and was knocked down 6 times, but got up each time ready to fight some more.

@JJbubbs23 Tucker broke his hand in the fourth which turned the fight around for Tyson. Tyson virtually stopped fighting for 3-4 rounds after Bruno hit him hard in the first. Had Bruno not been such a stiff he could have taken Tyson. Tillis never hurt Tyson. Both Ruddock fights were truly good performances for Tyson. Two of his best but Ruddock was a journeyman. Douglas, Holyfield, Lewis, Williams and McBride are different stories with Tyson never really putting effort into fighting back.

i agree that tyson was once great, for three years, if he didnt have that streak, no one would have any idea who he is, because he was garbage after he lost to douglass, who was garbage himself. theres no such thing as getting old at the age of 23. tyson fucked himself up mentally and every fighter he ever beat, he had a mental stranglehold on, without that, hes nothing. his physical gifts alone are not enough to make him good, mike tyson is the most overrated fighter of all time.

Muhammad Ali, Larry Holmes, Lennox Lewis George Foreman and Joe Frazier would all have beat Tyson in his prime.
Tyson only ruled for 2 and half years and in that time never beat any great fighters or won any truly epic wars.
Tyson was average at best

All very true and it stops Tyson from being a HOF.
However, for his size he was VERY impressive,super quick with a hell of a chin to. His power was over rated though and he understandably lost interest the longer a fight went.

Ehh thats your opinion, im actually gettin sick of people arguing about mma vs boxing why do people have to love one and hate the other? They're both tough sports mma fighters don't strike as well as boxers but are alot more technical. They both have there own advantages.

@devilskiss02 All I have to say is many a MMA fighter have tried boxing and have stated how much harder it is. Also boxers make alot more money if boxing was that much easier for them you would think they would box so they make make millions and not the 75,000 that Dana White pays. I think it would be cool to have a boxer vs MMA fighter match. Fight 1 would be under Boxing rules and fight 2 would be under MMA rules. BJ Penn vs Manny Paq or Kermit Cintron.

What's hard for me about Tyson was the pure talent, charisma and excitement that was tossed onto the ash heap of history.
Never had we seen such a force, and Lewis never provided it; nobody did. For a 5 year period we enjoyed the best of Tyson and heavyweight boxing, then POOF!
It was gone.
Tyson became a circus act, and today the once baddest man on the planet looks like he ate the planet. Tyson is fat as a rooting hog and shaped like a pear.
What a way for a great champ to end up.

ive seen almost every fight thats ever happend and in terms of skill tyson had it all the most potential to be the greatest although he did throw it all away with bad decesions,training,mental approach,and don king if he would of truelly stayed the course of a champion he would of accomplished so much more so i dont look at stats only skill and 86-88 tyson would in my mind beat any boxer in history...only 2 that might be a problem is ali and foreman
