You and me both bigmo10, I was looking for the sample to the Jay-z song Roc boys and discovered this wonderful band wasn't from the 70's like id thought. I can wait to hear more of their stuff.
1969 Carvin 77-AGB "I use roundwound strings, and I keep them real dirty. Im always hesitant to put on new strings. Whenever I do, it always sounds awful, so I end up rubbing some grease into them. Ill get some French fries or ham or rub anything with grease onto the strings until I can rid them of that awful tone."
acutally it's gabe roth in the dap-kings that uses the carvin, i think. the bassist here is nick movshon, who's using what looks like a 70's gibson ripper
This song is named after a community organization in brooklyn called make the road by walking and it is on menahan street. One more reason i love them!!!
This is just deadly. Completely great. One thing, though, why is it that the camera so often will completely ignore the bass player? I mean, that fella is dropping a wicked, solid bass line! Give him some love next time!
this is nasty, chilling until like like the 2 min mark -- then, you better be holding on to something, 'cause it's lift-off time, wow! Would love to know when this supergroup is touring -- if at all
Thanks for the video! This is one of the best bands I've ever heard in years & I'm wearing out their debut LP. They're excellent musicians and songwriters -- Tom Brenneck in particular is one amazingly tasteful guitarist. Do not miss them if you get the chance to see 'em!!!
is this the same band that plays the remix of "you go your way i'll go mine" bob dylan?
botaduck 1 month ago
@botaduck the guitarist, drummer and trumpet player worked on the Bob Dylan remix with additional musicians from the Dap-Kings
