@alphasxsignal No, no mp3. I refuse to play on top of a midi file or an mp3; the style sections I use *will* continue playing the same chord I'm playing in the background, but they wont' change unless I do.

I'd seen students playing on top of a midi file; the problem comes with sections with nothing for them to do and they just sit there. I want to be able to play it in such a way that even if there was no backing, it would sound somewhat like an orchestra

I see Korg has the PA3XPro out now too which does some interesting things. Have you listen to the

new Regitech sounds and styles for the Tyros 4. Looks like esoundz just brought out some new sounds

for the Motif XF and now there is KARMA for the Motif which will be able to have styles now.

I have the older CVP-207 model. Would like to upgrade to a 509 but man do they want the money.

Better to go Tyros4.

you could program in changes like that to happen at diffrent places through a song.

@JohnF30Music I haven't because perfecting the playing on a live take is one thing -- and something I haven't yet managed to do) but 1st you have to polish the sequence of sounds and the actual arrangement (I don't write anything down, it's all by ear, so it takes a while before I have a decent arrangement.

Then I have to get someone to take the footage...

very nice playing but must be said it sound doggy altho when starting main theme its only 3 high pitch, in your case you do 4 like all others. John William does 3 if he heard 4 high pitch it would have send him to his grave.

@internecin3 Chrono Trigger is the best video game soundtrack I've ever heard -- the composition is so intricate I *still* can't identify all the chords. Very far from the standard 1,6,4,5 (and variations) song construction.

In other words I haven't figured it out yet :/ Zelda, Halo, Starfox, sure. Not Chrono trigger... I think I'll start with something easier like FF6
