That was fabulous. The old style music is as relevant now as it ever was and that makes me very happy. I`m sure that there are others but with extraordinary musicians such as Tatiana Hargreaves and Sarah Jarosz in particular, the beautifully existential sounds and words of this style of acoustic music will live on forever.

I think it's a 5-string violin tuned standard, CGDAE. It might be the same type of 5-string Casey Driessen uses.

yes, it's a standard 5 string tuning (CGDAE). seems that everyone who comes in contact with darol anger plays one these days. btw, hers was made by john sullivan, and casey's is by john silakowski

I just found a writeup about the history of the 5-string violin by Darol Anger and he says that Sullivan (who has apparently passed away) only made two: one that Anger has, and one that belongs to Enion Pelta.

Nice -but fiddler not too great-good for a child-but an adult playing like that with Molsky never fly. She's got great voice & a lot of spark. A fiddler in the making..

How "great" of a fiddler are you? How "great" were you at her age? If she's playing with Mr. Molsky (and she is currently TOURING with him) she is better than good.

Hey-no linguistic war war need occur here. Her voice is great.This is an age issue. I took up fiddling as an adult. An adult at her level of fiddeling woud not be touring with Molsky. IMO. If a child is good after a few years it's "amazing"-not so for adult students. There are opinions in music. I've heard much better fiddlers playing at jams all over. If you're going to go into music as a career- get used to being critiqued- that's the deal.-she doesn't need you to come to her defence-Chill!

Ok- everyone is allowed an OPINION. for goodness sake people - get real. Old Time community is small but there is variety and fiddle styles to please all. Not all share opinions. We are talking OPINIONS - I play fiddle. I know good fiddle, from bad, from average. I know Hammonds family, Herrmann family, Reyna Gellert, AND SO ON!! Many amazing fiddlers out there - just didn't think she ranked there IN THIS VIDEO AND SHE DOES NOT IN THIS VIDEO. Now let's just all get along shall we?
