because they make sure that is any thing goes wrong and the plane has to land as soon as it takes off, the wheels are ready..

Bojjaafar. If I were u, and as their fleet is as old as the earth, I'd reconsider choosing that flying cuffin... If no other choice is left, make sure you do your prayers!

not all their fleet is old their fleet of the airbus 320-200 is only 6 to 8 years old that is young for an airliner.i know that Syrian air still flys thier 747-300sp it is an old aircraft i am not shor if they still fly thier 727s .i have worked for airlines as a tech who has much older aircrafts like olympic airways with thier fleet of 737s and american airline who still flys the MD80 and super80.having older plans that flys says alot about the techs how takes care of them.

I can asure that we're the best flyers in the world. I don't say that we have the best plains or the best service. But it's very chip and very comfortable flights...and in the landing, you don't keep on account...Very suitable!

why didnt they retract the gear???

They stopped at this airport for Maintenance. I forgot which airport this is but its 10 miles away from Madrid Mallorca, so it makes no sense to retract the gear for such a short flight.

Well if it's for maintaintance then they are probably testing it. It makes no sense to keep it down as it creates drag and since it is recomended to fly airliner planes on a high altitude, retracting gear is necessary to avoid stress so it is for no reason than testing I presume.
