  • Shooting video is not illegal. Cell phones are banned because they want you to spend money on the in flight expensive plane phones

  • B 737-200

  • what is this for a plane

  • The real reason they dont want you using your phone is so you dont piss off your fellow passengers, and all articles including devices should be stowed for taxi takeoff and landing purely to prevent it getting in the way if an evacuation is needed. the question of wether it affects systems is debatable, but i turn mine off regardless because i'm told to.

  • Transformers.. hmm..

  • Ah good ole Pratt and Whitney JT8D Engines Clamshell Reversers.

  • Amazing machines...

  • This is an older aircraft. You can tell because all the new ones dont have the clam-sheel reversers, which actually worked better. Only problem is a few incidents of them deploying in flight, NOT GOOD. Thanks for the video

  • looks like some sort of transformer lol

  • the 200s engines are so ugly...

  • @edvardsoz engines are not designed for beauty.. engineers design it for efficiency

  • I'll get on one of these tomorrow. They form a vital link in my tri-weekly commute to work. But it is still illegal to operate electronic equipment during landing in Canada.

  • 1 put engines on upside down

    2 land vertically

    3????

    3 Profit?

  • Boeing 737-200 ;-) Love it! They are quite rare now! Good vid!

  • pw engines?

  • what's the problem !

  • i used to think the engine was falling apart when i saw this as a kid

  • A 200. It looks so old now haha.

  • wow! how exciting, was that a first class seat? never seen anything like it!! fukin dead head.

  • horrible model, should have been replaced by a clean sheet design after the 300 series

  • neat on how that works

  • Awesome JT 8 D'S

  • @IASPAG2MFAM Oh thank god!! I was about to lose it!

  • @IASPAG2MFAM What?!?! And how's that so?

  • What series is this? It doesn't look like anything that I've seen on a 737

  • @jsne10 google 737-100 737-200 and 737-300 and you will see that the older models had a different engine design and look :)

  • what year was this shot in.

  • What engine typ is it?

  • @HamburgAirport jt8d

  • AUTOBOTS ROLL OUT

  • THis is so Old

  • @AlexFHDVideos

    But works well today.

  • technically this video was shot illegally as @ this point all electronics should have been off. but hat's off to you for shooting it and proving once again that electronic devices and cell phones do not interfere with airplane operation.

  • @circusboy90210 They can interfere with plane to ground communications, which is why they ask you to turn them off. Not that it interferes with the plane itself in any way.

  • what a ugly engine if i was on board and nobody warned me i would be running for a emergency exit

  • that looks like a stupid design

  • It recalls memories when I flew several times over to London in a 737-200 about 15-20 years ago.

  • i hate those old engines!

  • Hahaha NICE ONE.

  • transformers 5 special edition for aircrafts

  • transformes 5

  • its sorta like a black and white clip from whickers world.id still snog that engine though

  • WHOOOOOOOOO YEEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

  • Old type for turbo jet engines

  • they still use 737-200?! i though is extinct by now!

  • i like the part where the reverse thrust and spoilers come into play

  • Hahah nice proper old skool engine thrust reversing madness!

  • OMG! Transformers! LOL

  • @mrfledi777 air brakes flaps are the underneath folding wings

  • THATS THE BEST SHIT IV SEEN FOR A WHILE...FUCK

  • @stdavross666

Yeah yeah, calm down, calm down!

Dont have a fucking orgasm over it!

  • @hearts76100 your 3 weeks too late.

  • man the 732's are still used for passenger transport here in Chile!!

  • 20 people died by putting their dicks in the thrust reverser's XD

  • that the trust reverse and the speed brake

  • Wow ! Super like this video.

as a pilot, I never had the opportunity to see my spoilers and Trust Reversers deploy !

    thanks once again !

    lol

  • @mrfledi777 the spoilers are what are raised on the wing, they 'spoil' the airflow, and reduce the wings lift, as well as producing drag to slow the plane.

  • i love thee 737-200!

  • How much of Canada's newest territory is suitable for farming? NUNAVUT!

Most excellent vid, BTW, love the old JT8D '37s.

  • @fanexpert Yeah they do... as mid air refueling tankers, AWACS (Airborne Warning And Control System) etc. Airforce isn't just a bunch of F-18s, F-15, F-16, and now F-22s they have support vehicles too and many ground stations.

  • @killerman778 you are retarded

  • I love the old 737s and the good old engiens

  • this pilot had used all his tipes of brakes(recerse thrust, spoilers, autobr, brakes, flaps)

  • @tudy98Normal operations is to use your flaps, spoilers, reverse and autobrake. Your extra brake on the list isn't used during the landing procedure unless there are no autobrakes. You use manual braking for taxing and stuff. The Autobrake implies a switch between various brake intensities including one for aborting a takeoff. Hopefully this plane landed on Asphalt and not concrete as I have it understood concrete slips more specially during cold weather. That may be the cracks on the asphalt.

  • jesus that is an old plane

  • Ladies and gentlemen, that shit is normal.

  • Love to see the -200's still doing great service. I was a passenger between Ottawa and Iqaluit (where the A380 received cold soak testing), and loved the experience. On the flight back, we had 12 Huskies in the cargo bay, making lots of noise the whole way......

  • chuck norris dries his balls with reverse thrusters

  • @yepp87 Martin Castillo uses Chuck Norris as a speedbump.

  • @yepp87 i would think he would dry his balls with regular jet engine thrust as it would be stronger. idiot.

  • spoilers used as air brake during flight and after landing, used to disable the wings lift power

  • once landing at dutch harbor, alaska, for our 3rd attempt, the reverse thrusters came out, then FULL POWER! and we were still in the air about 5 or 10 ft. It was very foggy and we still went off the end of the runway! The most exciting landing ever. I yelled he-haw! (itwas dead silence)like a mad man when i saw em come out and shake like it was going to be ripped off, but didnt. We hit so hard, i thought the gear was going to collapse, and we going to pancake on the strip . WHAT A WORK HORSE.

  • @acrazedmaniac Sometimes it could be fun landing in Dutch Harbor on Alaska Airlines and at other times it could be scary too. I remember when Alaska Airlines and MarkAir both used to fly out to Dutch Harbor. There was a time when I was a little kid when I seen MarkAir coming in for landing that it used runway 12 and it nearly went off the runway and into the water at the opposite end of the runway because of the icy conditions.

  • old but i like it

  • its an old 737

  • @killerman778 that is a 737 you idiot since when does a 747 have only one engine on each wing look it up

  • @cardiffmc yeah their called spoilers because it does spoil the airfloe from making the plane lift up again once those spoilers are up the plane cant climb anymore, youre right

  • @mrfledi777

Flaps are the "Spoilers" and also they deployed the reverse thrusters or "buckets".

  • @kingfreakinkong No, flaps are flaps, spoilers, are spoilers, also known as speed breaks.

  • @kingfreakinkong

    Spoilers: on top of wing

Flaps: on trailing edge of wing

Slats: on leading edge of wing

  • @kingfreakinkong The spoilers are the top flaps and the FLAPS are the ones that go down. Two separate jobs. Spoilers are never used for takeoff only landing and descending when needed. They work like flaps where you can raise them in increments but they tend to remove the ability for the wing to create lift while creating resistance. So you tend to drop and slow down quicker. Flaps are designed more to increase lift during slower speeds but can be used to provide resistance and slow down.

  • @kingfreakinkong Spoiler's are air brakes if i'm not wrong... Flaps increase or decrease lift by manipulating surface area. Thus assisting in short take off's... Correct me if i'm wrong though.

  • @kingfreakinkong Also it can be called the clamshell. because it almost open as clam during those reverse!

  • @kingfreakinkong The flaps are NOT the spoilers.

  • @marmaluke666666 - Wrong - the spoilers deployed just like they're supposed to. The flaps are at the trailing edge of the wing, spoilers are on top.

  • @starliftermech4950 I'm very aware of that. What part of what I said was 'wrong'?

  • @starliftermech4950 I also believe the 737-200 has krueger flaps on the leading edge

  • @kingfreakinkong nononononono!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Flaps and the spoilers are different!!! Flaps are the ones on the wing and spoilers are the ones that go up at 0 3

  • @kingfreakinkong NO, flaps are not spoilers. flaps increase drag and lift. spoilers decrease lift and increase drag. They are on the top of the wing. common spoilers are ground spoilers like you see here. Then there are flight spoilers that are deployed in flight (speed brakes) and also spoilerons that are located closer to the wing tips that decrease lift on a particular wing to aid the aileron in lowering that wing in a turn. They work in conjunction with the aileron, hence the name" spoileron"

  • @kingfreakinkong thrust reversers are operated independantly with a lever on the throttle quadrant

  • @mrfledi777 the spoilers were deployed

  • those are one of those old Boeing 737s

  • @mrfledi777 the spoilers are the flaps i think

  • Hello! Next door neighbors, From Alaska Top of the world. Love those old 200's they don't fly them anymore for passenger but cargo mostly in AK. Great video.

  • @2bns08

They are ALIVE and well in the Great White North of Canada. They are my preferred air taxi while visiting up there.

Thanks for the positive input everyone :)

  • @kingfreakinkong i am british but i have been living in canada for 6 months, and i have noticed that the 737-200 is still in sevice with afew airlines in canada

  • @2bns08 Hi friend i worked in Alaska Cordova for 3 months.Really wonderful place!

  • @2bns08 You're not the only one that misses the 737-200's. They were great when Alaska Airlines had them especially when they used to fly to Dutch Harbor.

  • @cgolodoff what do they use now?

  • @acrazedmaniac Alaska Airlines no longer flies to Dutch Harbor anymore. PenAir flies to Dutch Harbor now days. Alaska Airlines had to retire all of their 737-200 series aircrafts because of the wear and tear in the fuselage. I think Alaska Airlines uses 737-400 combi aircrafts.

  • @mrfledi777 Both >Flaps are behind the wing and spoilers on top of them

  • @mrfledi777 ground spoilers developed

  • Cool, looks like a Decepticon transforming!!!

  • @mrfledi777 The spoilers are on top of the wing and go up and down, and the flaps are at the back of the wing and remain extended throughout the video.

  • @mrfledi777 look it up before you post...

  • It's Boeing 737-200 flying since 1973 so is not allowed for this aircraft to fly over Europe, America this aircraft used by airlines in Africa and East Asia

  • spoilers are those panels that raise UP on top of the wing.

knapillee: callin; cathaydude a smart a.. shows your stupidity, ignorance, insecurities, immaturity, etc. People like you were bullies when you had something/somebody to hide behind!

  • The old Clamshell Thrust reversers. C-141's had them too, but were sideways , as top and bottoms can stir up FOD and dirt if on unimproved airfields.

  • @mrfledi777 The spoilers are the surfaces above the flaps that extend just as the thrust reversers deploy.

  • looks like a 737-800

  • @Cathaydude are you seriusly kidding me?? Thats so obviously a 737-200.... since when did the -800 series hgave bucket reverse thrust?? Look it up smart-ass!

  • @knaphilllee i cant tell between 737's lol

  • I love the -100/200 Classic version of the 727 and 737

they share a lot of the same parts.

  • Miss the old 732. This video brought back some nice memories from USair.

  • Wow, a 737 with the old school JT-8D turbojets. Rock on!

  • whats the sound that sounds like gunshots? surely cant be normal

  • @SoccerBoy77 Seams between the concrete pads on the runway.

  • @SoccerBoy77 those are the engines thrust reversers deflecting the thrust of the plane when the air rushing out of the plane makes contact with something block it from passing it makes a loud noise, if you sit behind the wing of the airplane you can hear that during landing to simulate this efeect blow through a straw and cover the end with your hands it is very similar to the thrust reversers deflecting the thrust which makes the loud sound

  • @ghettoperson257 strange...ive flown hundreds of times and sat in that location (its my favorite spot and always a window seat) and ive never hear the bang sound before...just heard the sound of the thrust being redirected forwards.

  • @SoccerBoy77 i kno thethrust being redirected forwards creates the loud noise and i like a window seat by the wing too i love those seats

  • @SoccerBoy77 those are bolts popping out from their sockets

  • @mrfledi777 spoilers opened up as well, theyre on the top those pieces that went up at 0:04

  • TRANSFORMERS!

  • First time I've seen something like that. If I was on that flight I would have thought it was falling apart.

  • that model is boeing 737-100

  • @mrfledi777 Nope...flaps, spoilers and thrust reversers all deployed. You have to deploy all these 3 items with the brakes for the big jetliner airplanes to slow down...or else the brakes on the wheels might be overworked and cause a brake fire.

  • @lineage129 Or even worse, your plane will suffer from ground effect, which causes the wheels to get zero grip, which causes the airplane to skidd off the runway (if it's a short one). If a big plane like this one loses both thrust reversers and spoilers, it will be allmost impossible to land, unless you have a runway that is long enough :) Just some few years ago, an BAE 146 went off the runway at Stord lufthavn, Norway (the plane does not have thrust reversers), the spoilers failed to deploy.

  • @lineage129 youre right the spoilers and thrust reversers on the plane reduce wear on the brakes which makes less of a chance for it to catch on fire and theres a 160kt wind cooling the brakes

  • @cardiffmc

i guess so never found out why they call them that but i do know what they do

  • @razor1998 The spoilers "spoil" the nice streamlined airflow over the wing. It causes the flow to separate behind the spoilers, which significantly reduces the lift on the wing. It's good to get rid of the lift on the wings, so that the plane's weight is bearing down on the wheels for braking. If the wings were still making a lot of lift, not much force would be on the wheels and they could skid. Especially in wet/icy conditions.

  • @mrfledi777

there was spoilers u see those flaps that come up on the wing when they land those are spoilers

  • @killerman778 That is a Boeing 737-200

  • that looks like one of the oldest boeing 737's ever!!

  • this is a Boeing 737-200 deploying thrust reverser on port(left) engine. the aircraft does not have "spoilers", but have FLAPS (aka speed brakes). the aircraft also only has two engines, which i believe are Pratt & Whitneys. but great vid!!

  • Good old 732.

  • They are Air Brakes. But thanks for the vid! Now I know what happens in reverse thrust. :D

  • b 732 have spoiler which is inbord n outbord flight spoiler, okey

  • cyborg keyboard

  • @killerman778 watch the video dumbass can you see? THIS PLANE HAS 2 ENGINES!!!!!!!

  • @PlaneSpotterGroup101 youre right a 747 has two engines on each wing whereas a 737 has one engine on each wing at least someone knows what hes talking about only a fool would say or even think the reverse

  • @killerman778 go to the link i sent you. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT BUDDY!

  • @killerman778 u must be pretty stupid to think that is a 747. 747's have TWO engines on each wing 737's have ONE engine on each wing.

  • These are turbojet engines and this kind of reverse thrust system dates back to the 60s. Both the engine and its reverse thrust system are not popular anymore. seems this aircraft is quite old. Thank you for this rare video

  • a very good, but noisy plane.

  • @777fsx200 We were landing at Rankin Inlet, so it would have been Canadian North or First Air.

  • @777fsx200 Air North fly's 737-200 to Whitehorse.

  • so ancient

  • Was this the 1970s???

  • why does that cover come down on the back of the engines most comercial airliners dont use them?

  • @JonnyZilla1 those are the thrust reversers they deflect the thrust coming out the back of the engine it makes less wear on the brakes and stops the plane faster ALL airplanes have them except for propeller planes

  • @ghettoperson257 Most propeller planes (piston engine and turboprop) have reverse thrust as well. The propellers blade can swivel so they move the air forward (instead of the usual backward).

  • i swear if i didn't kno anything about reverse thrust....and then i see this!!! i would definitely shit my pants!!! =D

its good that they just change the pitch of the blade now!

  • WOW ! An old 737 !

  • it's 737-200 ?

  • Nice Smooth Landing On That 737!! Awesome!!

  • the thrust reversers are probably the reason why the pilots gun the engine at landing

  • It's exactly the reason they gun the engine at landing. With the thrust reversers deployed, the more throttle, the more braking ability, so naturally, full throttle.

  • Remember the first time I ever flew on an airplane, was on my way to boot camp and there was turbulence during the flight but when we landed I looked out at the engines and saw the pilot engage the thrust reversers--thought the engine fell off the plane!! You can learn a lot in 30 years...

  • @waverly24 Ha i thought the same thing first time i saw that lol.

  • how come the two things go over the back of the engine when it hits reverse thrust

  • The thrust hits the bucket and in effect tries to push the aircraft backwards thus slowing it down.

  • Comment removed

  • @jbriggs1966 Not quite accurate. The reverser redirects the exhaust so that the jet is effectively pointed forward and is thus pushing against the air in front of the aircraft and causing it to slow down.

  • @sk8rguy4life1123 it gives a sensation that is in the far back but its normal its just the flaps that make that sensation :) In reverse the engine works normally but now there is a "wall" to reverse it. It's like a tennis ball. You hit it against a wall (thrust) and then you have a reverse action. (Getting the ball back)

  • What Model is this? it looks like an earlier version because of the position and shape of the engines.

  • @SuperSparky10297 , could be 100 or 200

  • @SuperSparky10297 it's a 200 model...

  • thought so

  • @nitrousboy0311 wtf ?? i'm a boy you fag !!

  • why where you allowd to get a vidio camera out i thought they dont let
