A little appreciated fact is that all services and infrastructure provided by government creates and increases land value by making land more useful and productive. For example if there was no public road to your location how much would the land be worth. true , in some ways i guess but remember iam basicaly just saying that the rate for the taxes on the poor should be even lower than it is and the rich dont think it is enough money comeing in then they should pay the difference..what does a multi millionare care what the poorman is paying if any..sure you should all pay your keep just remember it is harder on you to lose 10 percent if all you have is a hundred dollars than 90% of your million..hell its all printed like counterfit anyways

to the replys below..it is easier by far for a person with 100,000 to pay a third which would be 33,000 than a person who has 30,000 to pay a third which would be 10,000..this would take the guy who makes 30,000 which is bareley enough to live on down to 20,000 to live on...I think the rich should have to pay taxes and the poor should not have to..another point made , the rich are republicans and the poor are democrats..republicans love big government now days

david: your example is correct, and that's why we have progressive tax rates. The more you make, the higher percentage you pay. However, the philosophy of "taxing the rich" is dangerous because you're in effect saying to the underclass "vote for me and I'll use govt power to take money from others and give it to you". This is class warfare; the Dems have been using it forever but it doesn't seem to work too well. Maybe because it's ultimately the rich that create wealth in the first place.

A little appreciated fact is that all services and infrastructure provided by government creates and increases land value by making land more useful and productive. For example if there was no public road to your location how much would the land be worth. Much less than it is with the road etc. Therefore the just tax is a tax on land value since that only takes back to the community the value that community confers on land. You might guess who owns most of our land and most of its value.

Find a "regular" self employed tax payer, and however you treat that guy, treat everyone. That hard working guy who provides service or goods. He will probably pay FICA on every dime. So everyone pay fica on every dime. He will pay 35-45% of his income in taxes. You pay 35-45% of your income in taxes. Let you have the same sweat deal you give him. Watch the rich scream like blooooooody murder.

As for universal health care, ask people in Europe if they'd rather keep their universal health care or switch to an American-style system...
