Am I the only one who prefers these endings to the cinematic ones in DoW 2, these seem so much appropiate to the setting in which huge armies fighting and dying for the fate of worlds is an everyday occurence, impersonal, clean and epic, like the end of a great novel or legend.
Lol even if blood ravens had allied with the IG they would still have all died as after campaigns regiments who have seen Grey Knights are executed and the space marines would have been mind wiped.
@TheBigBeav I believe that's 5th ed. fluff, written by the heretic ward. this was a 4th ed game. That, and no ones gives frig about the grey knights anymore.
One thing I never got about this ending - how come the Blood Ravens needed to explain themselves to the Inquisition?
Had everyone forgotten about the Grey Knights? What were they doing fighting alongside the Blood Ravens if the Blood Ravens hadn't already explained themselves to the Ordo Malleus? And while I can understand Alexander questioning a regular Astartes chapter (even that still required balls the size of Jupiter), where the HELL did he learn to question the Grey Knights' authority?!
@Sangrenegra9 my guess is that the grey knights leave that sort of stuff til after the action. when there's Chaos forces to fight, it'd make sense for inquisition to take a back seat for a bit. as for Alexander questioning their authority, he wasn't. all that beef was between the ravens and imps, and the Grey Knights probably didn't care so long as one of em was around to help fight chaos. if you notice when you attack the raven stronghold as imps, there are no GK's at all.
@TheMashupBoy what about teh Blood Ravens being arrogant enough to kill LOYAL Guardsmen? I'm sure the Imperial Guard and Marines would have been able to work things over after everyone else was killed, Hell, even Aleksandr was pleading with Thule the fool to be friends as all Imperials should be.
I simply don't like the fact that the Blood Ravens won the Dark Crusade, it is not because i like the Imperial Guard and Lucas Alexander more (which i do) but because i think that Thule is simply an unintressting character and i hate the fact that they killed off/threw away so many other intressting Commanders just because the storyline demanded it. I mean hell, Farseer Talder, Lucas Alexander and Eliphas are/were all more intressting than Thule but no, they choose Thule instead of them.. -.-'
@AdorableUKe Yeah i know Eliphas returns in DoW 2 but i ran out of space (stupid 500 limit -.-'), but if you ask me it barely counts since they ruined Eliphas in DoW 2 and turned an awesome and promising character into one of the most generic and simply annoying characters i have ever seen.. :P
@AdorableUKe Huh, i didn't even know that :) then again i agree that Gabriel Angelos and Eliphas (the DC one that is) both have awesome voices. ^^
But i stand by what i said, Thule isn't a very intressting character and i think that any other commander from DC would have been a better choice. Of course, this is just my opinion and i respect your or anyone elses opinion! ^^
See here I don't get how khorne could support a psyker since Chapter Master Kyras is a libranian and that he could conspire to be a daemon prince by khorne when it should be of nurgle or Tzeentch. But since it is my opinion so any comments would help to explain this conudrum. <@:)
The power struggle between the Space Marines, the Inquisition, the Imperial Guard and the Imperial Navy is one of the defining qualities of the Imperium in 40k. Every one of those four factions (plus a few lesser factions) think that they should be in charge (even though none will admit it). Even if the Blood Ravens weren't corrupted by a Khorne-worshiping Chapter Master, conflict between loyal Guard and Space Marines is not at all unheard of.
hey u knw wat really space marines win the game no matter wat cause in dow2 we see tht thule cmes back and i think that it said one of him best crusades was kornus
@VaragianPrince actully sme of them r the blood ravens r after a secertive chapter and their whole history was distoryed or lost sme how and many get too enturuled with looking for the lost history lik 4 example isador 4rm dow yes they have the most but some of them are still very turely loyal and the imperial guard did not stand down to a suprior so the wer killed to get lost history
With killing almost everyone in the planet not much separate the glorious Space Marines from the big, bad evil, xeno Necrons. Well, at least they've done Taldeer's job for her.
the space marines should have gotten a better ending,n i mean, the sisters of battle turn the system into a giant shrine to their order, the Imperial guard turn it into one of the imperiums best systems, and so on. The space marines deserve a freaking statue just be for being ballsy enough to fight all these xenos
This is the canon ending for Dark Crusade, just hilarious how inglorious the ending is... I mean its like "We just killed thousands of xenos with three hundred space marines, hell we even owned the necrons but the inquisition are mad at us for owning the guardsmen...".
and in DOW2 davian thule its getting killed by a tyranid and in kaurava they did lose the commander got killed by a ork cyrus its saying it in DOW2 try to listen after the missions
Such a depressing ending. There's no "The Spehs Mehreens killed everybody and then built a massive successful colony on Kronus and everybody was happy and thought they were great and Davian Thule rode off into the sunset" like there is for almost all the other races. There's just "they are being watched by the Inquisition and in the coming years will be fucked up by Vance Stubbs because Boreale is an idiot."
@ThSeriousGuy I think they might be hinting to their defeat on Kaurava and the events in Dawn of war 2 and Chaos rising when they say that the chapter's darkest hours began soon after the war.
@ThSeriousGuy Are there any good books that really lay out the story of Warhammer 40K? It's pretty damn cool but I don't want to get involved in the game itself.
@Faffel Yeah it has a huge backstory, if you want to learn more about the WH40K universe, I suggest buying one of the Codexes that are each designed to explain an aspect of Warhammer 40K. They're available from quite a few game and book stores.
@ThSeriousGuy Yeah I used to read my buddies back in junior high - he had some Blood Raven codexes and shit, but I was wondering if there was like a 40K Bible or whatever. Guess not. Thanks.
@wicNKWD37 Fortunatly, the inquisition came and help, they killed, with some help of loyal blood ravens, the chapter master along with Araghast, some daemon that Gabriel accidently unleashed and Elliphas who just doesn't know when to stay down.
@ThSeriousGuy the emperium of man is always fucked over... i mean every race has pretty much crippled the empire so much they should be whiped out by now
I luv warhammer but i dont fully understand Y the imperials the space marines and the eldar just cant meet and make equal terms the only menaces are chaos the necrons and the orks
@pokerchamp19009 imperials and marines are both Imperial. The Eldar have a spotty record, the Dark Eldar are evil, as are Chaos and Necrons and Orks. Really though, I guess it's the Imperial xenophobia... oh and don't forget Tau. @BloodzKillaz4Life If you know how to use them well they are a bitch to fight, you can also use the support platform offensively if you can get the warp gates into the right place and upgrade the support platforms they do massive damage against buildings
@Rykanable and tyranids.a report was made which shows that the hives which have come already are only the beggining of those that will come in 50 years.to have a hope of defeating them, the recruitement would have to increase by 500% which would mean the introduction of every able-bodied man woman and child in the imperium
Hell, everyone is ALL FOR Tau and Space Marines (That have played this game at least). Have you actually played the TABLETOP game? Because if not you have no right to be saying anything, kbai.
@lukeyboy118 In dawn of war 2 it mentions this war and states that davioan thule and the blood ravens won and davian thule was the Dread nought in dawn of war 2
@180791sanguinius they do everything to get the job done, sometimes just do what they think is right even if the imperium says not to and their secrecy...
In fairness, the Space Marines have no authority over segmentum command, or an IG gerneral/governer, so really, the Inquiston should of sided with segmentum command.
@Kemonokami Probobly not, the astartes are not realy under the Inquisition as much as the rest of the imperium so the interogation was probobly less violent and more verbal. Besides, space marines are ment to have a bunch of genetic mods that let them ignore pain ect.
Indeed, the Space Marines are afford a great deal of autonomy and power, especially the older and more venerable chapters. The Ultramarines, for example, are untouchables more or less. In fact, they rule their own quasi-Empire within the Empire where there is relative order and peace.
If there are two chapters to live under, it's the Ultramarines and the Salamanders. They go to great strides to protect the people and see that people live good lives.

@180791sanguinius they do everything to get the job done, sometimes just do what they think is right even if the imperium says not to and their secrecy...

In fairness, the Space Marines have no authority over segmentum command, or an IG gerneral/governer, so really, the Inquiston should of sided with segmentum command.
deadlykeybord 1 year ago
I wished the Tau won over Kronus still atl least these dicks lose half of their army during the Kaurava campaign and Thule gets his eye ripped out.
Go TAU!!!!

So the Inquisition tortured the Blood Ravens? What jerks!
Kemonokami 1 year ago
@Kemonokami Probobly not, the astartes are not realy under the Inquisition as much as the rest of the imperium so the interogation was probobly less violent and more verbal. Besides, space marines are ment to have a bunch of genetic mods that let them ignore pain ect.
TheNeverNevermore 1 year ago
@TheNeverNevermore

It is sad that even within the Imperium, lack of understanding and overzealous command leads to humans killing humans.
