  • Damn I'm hungry now. And I'm on a diet:(

  • Thanks Mrs. Betty, that's good stuff.

  • ugh i am sooooooooooooo hungry now looks soooooo good

  • Can't believe near me hehehe You're recipes are amazing!! I make some of them for my mom and brother

  • Looks delicious and sooo easy to make! Definately making this for my family. Thanks for sharing!:)

  • I make it with ground beef no sour cream and you put the tatertots on top

  • I've made this a few times and I love it! Last time i made it I used real bacon bits in the mixture and it was a nice addition.

  • Very nice. I think I might try this using frozen hash brown potatoes. The potato sticks I think are also called "Shoe String Potatoes" and are often found in the chip section of the market. Great sauce recipe, too.

  • Great recipe for college students on a budget too!!! Thank you for this recipe! I plan to try it out next week for dinner!

  • wow all of the food you make looks sooo good! How do y'all keep so thin?

  • @sheersoxNC Thanks for your comment! We eat a lot of leftovers, and we give away food.

    --Betty :)

  • Definitely going to fix for a side dish with meatloaf. Thanks Betty.

  • Hi Ms. Betty, try topping it with canned cream (not fresh) and a couple of spoons of Kraft spreadable cheese and a tea spoon of mayo. It's awesome. Good sauce for chicken fillets too.

  • Would italian sausage be good instead of hamburger

  • @brittneydargusch21 Yes, I think that would taste really great!

    --Betty :)

  • How could I cut this recipe in Half for like a 8 by 8 square baking dish and I don't care for green onions what could I substitute for that? Any suggestions

  • @brittneydargusch21 You can just use 1/2 as much of each ingredient. Also, you may use regular onions or omit the onions entirely.

    --Betty :)

  • I'm a dude who cant cook to save his life...... This is helping me survive college!! :)

  • @ChexMix67 Thanks for your nice comment!

    --Betty :)

  • Mmmmmmm I will have to say it was very yummy

  • @sparkleandshine100 Thanks!

    --Betty :)

  • I love the sour cream mixture that goes on top of the potatoes - it is absolutely delicious!

  • @itsbrandoyo The sour cream mixture tastes great!

    --Betty :)

  • she doesn't have ring, let me cook for you!

  • @sparkleandshine100 That's great! I hope you enjoy it!

    --Betty :)

  • I'm going to try this and put french fried onion on top instead of the potato sticks :)

  • @goodgirl1966 That's a great idea! I hope you enjoy it!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty I love this recipe I have to figure out how to convert it to two servings as I am the only one who likes it... Thank you

  • @seanviv2 It is a great recipe, and it serves about 8 people, so you would need to divide each ingredient by 4 and bake it in a smaller baking dish.

    --Betty :)

  • Wow, after watching several of your videos, it's only fitting that I subscribe. So, I subscribe. I adore you Ms. Betty

  • @UnlimitedWhispersTV Thanks for your lovely comment and thanks for subscribing! I subbed you back!

    --Betty :)

  • i put some green beans in instead of the onion..LOL i couldnt find any onion and my Fiance loves green beans and tasted great

  • @JJHaRtSGaming The green beans sound great! Thanks for your lovely comment and tip!

    --Betty :)

  • Ok do u know of a fajita sauce or anything and maybe I can try fajitas with it or something

  • @brittneydargusch21 That's a good idea. I do have Sizzling Steak Fajitas here:

    youtube.com/watch?v=Rcmc_WQWvKw

I don't know if that would be helpful, because I used a seasoning blend that you might not have on hand. I do have Sirloin Steak Stir Fry in bettyskitchen (2 varieties) that might work.

    --Betty :)

  • Just regular tri tip that we grilled last night and we cut it Into slices when we ate it just wondering if there was a casserole to maybe make with the left over tri tip I have

  • @brittneydargusch21 I'm assuming that is something like sirloin tip roast (beef). I can't think of anything right off, other than maybe a hot roast beef sandwich.

    --Betty :)

  • I was wondering do u know of a casserole I could do with some left over slices if tri tip I'd I cut it into chunks or something ?

  • @brittneydargusch21 Please explain what you mean by slices of tri tip, and I will see what I can do.

    --Betty :)

  • Can u use regular onions instead of green onions and Is there something else u can use for the ending ingredient Instead o the potato fries or chips whatever they were called lol

  • @brittneydargusch21 Yes, regular onions will be delicious in this recipe! Also, a great topping would be a can of French fried onions. If you can't find those, just a standard topping of cracker crumbs and melted butter will be great!

    --Betty :)

  • I just made this last night! YUM! I didnt check my sour cream and only had half of a 16ounce container left but it was still awesome. I couldn't help myself and I sprinkled some crispy bacon over the top! Thanks Betty!! DELISH!!!!

  • @cecsmith Thanks for the great feedback! I really appreciate it! The bacon on top sounds wonderful!

    --Betty :)

  • Takes me back 20 years. Thanks for reminding me how good food can be.

  • @writestuffla Thanks for the lovely comment! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • This is very creative!!! i always thought of tetor tot hotdish as a main course meal with the hamburger and veggies. I haven't tried this but it looks really good. thumbs up, betty

  • @LOLAsweetandsmile Thanks for your lovely comment! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen no prob!!

  • Hi Betty,

I have made this with the little petite diced frozen potatos and mixed everything up together but I think this probably tastes even better. The tots would be a bit crisp under all the creamy cheese mixture which I would prefer. Love the addition of the stix too. I sprinkle those on Mac&Cheese sometimes instead of bread crumbs. Can't wait to try your version.

  • @KissHope I hope you enjoy this version; it's the go-to version for my family!

    --Betty :)

  • Hi Betty,

I made the casserole with cream of chicken soup. My 14yr old son ate about 1/3 of the casserole. He and my husband loved it!

and I did also. I can see this will be a big hit at our next party. Thanks Betty

  • @startingoutbackwards You are welcome for the recipe! I am delighted that your family liked it! Thanks for the great feedback!

    --Betty :)

  • Hi Betty, in what section of Kroger can you find the potato sticks? Thanks

  • @mahoganybella I think those are in the frozen foods section.

    --Betty :)

  • I just threw this one in the oven! I added hamburger meat and french onions for the topping! Thanks again, I am in a cooking rut and needed a few new recipe ideas!

  • @4lilbugsmom I'm delighted that you liked the tater tot casserole! Thanks for your lovely feedback! I really appreciate it! Adding the hamburger and French fried onions sounds wonderful!

    --Betty :)

  • betty, you seem very nice and the best hostess!! thanks for the video.. I'm going to make it and will post my results.

  • @startingoutbackwards Thanks for your sweet comment! I look forward to your posting!

    --Betty :)

  • I have 4 boys and they loved it thanks

  • @dilleyfam Thanks for the great feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • You are adorable and this casserole looks AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! I'm gonna make some this week (= YAY! Thank you Betty!!!!!

  • @soejammm That's great! I hope you enjoy the casserole! Thanks for your sweet comment!

    --Betty :)

  • --Betty??

  • @karltorres2 --Yes??

    --Betty :)

  • OMG this looks so good I bet bacon would be really great in this casserole too :)

  • @papomalijahlove I think bacon would be good, too!

    --Betty :)

  • @KnivesnForks Thanks for the thought.

    --Betty :)

  • I was just wondering.. What's the average calories per portion in this dish? Is there any way of making a healthier version of this? Cz it looks yum and I really want to try it...

  • @vibhasrivastava87 The calories in this dish would be a lot; you can reduce them by using fresh potatoes, cut into the shape of French fries. Spray them with oil and bake until soft. Sprinkle with low-fat cheese of any type you like and continue to bake until cheese is melted.

    --Betty :)

  • can I add ground beef to this?

  • @misschristina11 Yes, brown the ground beef first, and this will make a complete meal!

    --Betty :)

  • Lots of starches, cheese, potatoes and pure yumminess.

I've always loved this recipe and now I make it when family comes over for Holidays and they all love this. Your recipe is delicious and only difference is that I use cream of chicken and I mix in some ground beef. But regardless thanks for the recipe. I'm definitely a visual learner more than a "book" learner.

  • BTW, you should SO incorporate ground chorizo in some of these. I could have that stuff 8 days a week (yeah...EIGHT)

  • :O!!!

  • I just made my first tater tot casserole consisting of the title ingredient, cream of chicken, corn, green beans and hamburger. I browned the hamburger and spiced it up with crushed red pepper. It ended up near perfect as the heat wasn't enough to spoil the casserole. :D

  • @draiman4life Sounds great!

    --Betty :)

  • I just made this. Its in the oven as we speak. It looks delicious. I have finicky children so I had them help me and hope they like it. Cant wait!!

  • o god that looks good.......

  • Dear Betty,

Thanks again for a simple, and affordable recipe. I had a dinner party and it was a huge hit with my guests. None have ever had tater tots prepared this way. One especially liked the fact that it was vegetarian.

  • @senorapata Thanks for your wonderful feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • Do you think cottage cheese added to the mixture would be a nice addition?

  • @MissPopularCulture Yes, I think cottage cheese would be a great addition!

    --Betty :)

  • Thanks Betty,

I've been looking for this recipe for a awhile and happy to find it on your channel

    ~Natalia

  • pretty lady cooking great food.. love your videos..they are awesome

  • miss betty.......... i cant wait to trythis out, i think i'll make it this sunday night!! looks yummylicious"" your husband and kids are soo lucky to have you!! the dish looks so tasty!!! im going to add hamburger meat..yummy!! thanks!!

  • I made this yesterday and it was delicious! I used cream of potato and it made it really creamy and the onions gave it a kick of flavor! I'll be making this a lot more. Thanks Betty!

  • betty!! you're rocking my world, child!

  • OMG this really makes me hungry.

  • Im making your receipt tonight!! I cant wait.

  • i wish you were my mom!!!

  • i bet bacon would be good in that! (reminds me of a loaded baked potato)

  • @hypnotiqdom That sounds wonderful!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen This looks wonderful!!;) reminds me of the time my mom used to make this!

  • this looks tasty, i usually just make it with the tator tots, ground beef, co mush soup and i use velvita! but im going to have to try this!

  • @TheJessob I said the same thing lol, I make mine the way you do, but I put my tots on top and they get nice and crispy so they make their own toping, so I don't have to add anything later, and I add onion to the ground beef when Im browning it.

  • This is in the oven right now! I'll come back and comment later tonight after we've tried it :D

  • @AmyLizz Mmmm it was delicious, we all loved it! :) Thank you Betty!

  • @AmyLizz Thanks for your great feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • hey betty, i know your a health nut like me so i made this using fat free low calorie potatoe chips by Ruffles, tasted great!

  • Oh that looks so good.

  • Thanks Betty for the advice.I will double the recipe then bake it early in the am,transfer it into my crock pot.I will have to layer it tho due to doubling the recipe.

  • I am going to make one like this but with hash browns.Betty,I'm going to ask you a silly question.:)Can this dish do ok at room temp after its been baked? The place I go for for meetings/luncheon has no kitchen so would it be wiser to transfer this ( after its baked ) to a crock pot and keep it on low for 2 hrs.?

  • @HattieLovesCattie This will be fine at room temperature for a couple of hours. It actually tastes better hot, so your crock pot option is good, also.

    --Betty :)

  • I LOVE YOU BETTY

  • I made two 13x9 casseroles for a potluck and I felt that it was missing something so in one of them I put shredded chicken and in the other I put ground beef. They were delish!! Especially since you can never go wrong with chicken and ground beef mixed with sour cream!

  • @RoxyHeartsYa Those are great additions! Thanks for the lovely comment and for the tip!

    --Betty :)

  • @RoxyHeartsYa I get where you're coming from but I think Betty was trying to make this a side dish instead of the main course so to speak. She mentioned this in the begining. I too was wondering why there was no beef or chicken until she said it was a side dish to burgers or steak.

  • @derfo20 oh believe, in my house they were still side dishes lol.

  • WOW THAT looked so good ill try that today

  • Thanks for the wonderful recipes. I'm European and my boyfriend is American, so our ways of cooking are different, but you've helped me a lot! thanks again. :)

  • @peek84 Oooh,I looked up your profile. My hubby's paternal Granddad was born in Iasi,Romania and immigrated to NYC in 1900 at the age of four.I adore sour cream and I didn't grow up with it.

  • I am definitely making this tomorrow, it looks delish! <3Ro

  • I am not a fan of sour cream. Can I use plain balkan yogurt?

  • OK, Betty, I've got em in the oven....

  • I just tried making this delicious dish. I made it by myself.

  • @roosevelthighschool That's great! I hope you enjoy the Tater Tot Casserole! Thanks for your comment!

    --Betty :)

  • I am sure my kids would live this! Thanks for the video

  • Dear Betty,

Just like IKUIFGLO said, I was surprised that something like this was on youtube and what's even more great is that you are using KROGER products!!!!!!! I am a nightstock crew of Krogers and you using stuff like that just makes life that much easier to handle so thank you again for putting this on youtube. GBY!!!

  • Love your show! What size bra do you wear?

  • I am making this tonight... thank you!

  • Hiya Betty! I tell everyone I know "Never fool with reduced fat cheese, especially for cooking!" It is never an acceptable substitute, in my opinion, especially when you consider that the reduced is not too much less fattening anyway.

  • I made this a week ago and i have to hand it to you. First off it was very simple. It is very reasonably priced and it is a delicious dish. It was like sour cream and onion potato chips taken to a new level. It's good to see recipes that any college student could prepare. Not all students or people starting on their own have the ability in the kitchen or the confidence to cook. This was just excellent dish to know of for so many reasons. Thank you for the really great work that you do.

  • @Wuddymaters13 Thanks for your sweet comment! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • I love your videos they make my day a lot eazier

  • Great deadpan delivery Betty! I thought my In-laws comfort food recipes in their reunion La Cucina Familia were funny, but this beats anything I've seen so far. Brava Betty! By the way, you sure know how to maintain your shape, I guess you don't even taste food?

  • I was surprised to find this on youtube so thanks for posting it.

I will make this as soon as I can and am sure my son will just love it!

    --Betty :)

  • what are tater tots??lol

  • They are shredded potatoes that are shaped into small cylinders. They are sold in the frozen food section, and are partially cooked. You may substitute French fries or fresh potatoes (slightly cooked).

    --Betty :)

  • hi betty! im not the best cook so i would like to know what you think. if i wanted to add bacon to this recipe which layer would you put it in or make it on the side??

  • I would cook the bacon until crisp, then add it into the sauce mixture. Sounds great!

    --Betty :)

  • Thanks for your wonderful feedback!

    --Betty :)

  • Hey Betty, I love your recipes and cannot wait to make this one. I was wonderign if you could substitute the cream of mushroom for something else. I hate mushrooms and was wondering if it could be omitted. Thanks!

  • Yes, you may substitute cream of celery or cream of chicken soup in place of the mushroom soup--Any crem soup will do!

    --Betty :)

  • Just got finished with your tot casserole dinner- it was great!!! My husband loved it!! It really hit the spot!!!! I added chicken by the way, so it could be a main dish.

  • Thanks for the great feedback! The addition of the chicken sounds great; I *love* one-dish meals!

    --Betty :)
