Magistral film de 1931, 4 años habían pasado desde la 1era peli hablada ,ya nadie hacia films silentes, sin embargo Chaplin decidió que city lights lo fuera. Si el vagabundo hablaba perdia TODO SU ENCANTO.

Charlie se BURLA del cine sonoro con este film 00:17 - 00:47. La dama y el caballero que hablan nos recuerda los problemas técnicos que presentó el cine sonoro en sus inicios Desincronización, ruidos molestos de fondo, etc, etc y que Chaplin tanto odiaba

Brilliant. I never noticed, but the sequence where the statue sword goes up his pants and he hangs appears to have been shot in reverse, and played backwards to give the effect.
