I'm all for the expanding-100%-copper bullets, but such fear mongering against lead bullets is just bull's'. General population consumes so little (hunted,shot) game meat per year that lead residue from bullets used is insignificant. Like a fly poo in an ocean.
Well I'm sold what is a couple of dollars more per pack of ammo compared to long term health. NOT Much in my book. I will be using copper from now on. Not only do they hold together better and keep me from getting lead poisoning They penetrate better and kill the animal more cleanly. Ethical 1 shot kills are better than letting the animal suffer.
OK..now we have seen your studies. We will see just what your up too in time. Do something for me. Go to RWVA dot org and sign up for an Appleseed and go to it. Please don't use the excuses I hear all the time. These Appleseed Events are in almost every state now and they are all on weekends.
Lead poisoning isn't limited to death. Sub-lethal effects include decreased cognitative and academic skills, lowered sex drive(!), decreased fertility, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, increased aggression and kidney problems. I don't know about you but switching to non-lead bullets sounds better.
That's why when using lead, you shoot them in front of their eye if they -R- coming toward you, and behind their eye when they -R- going past you etc.!
I would like to know if shotting a deer with cheap lead bullets then consuming the meat afterward is a death wish? If I tried to clean the meat as best as one could, would it be safe to eat? I guess copper bullets were not around during the old'en days of civil war and hunters I guess then only had lead to cast? is that true? did hunters in civil war days eat lead killed meat all the time?
@jamesandthegiantpea I grew up eating all kinds of wild game and we would shoot rabbit, pheasant and squirrel with lead shot and never saw any problems. We would be eating and accidently bite a piece of shot, it hurt, but I wonder how much shot I actually ate. I am still alive and kicking. My brother and I would use lead shot weights while fishing and the best way to crimp one on your line was to just bite it. I have eaten my weight in wild game several times and am still here.
This is another good reason why I switched to an expanding non-lead bullet for hunting games that I plan to eat. However, I'm not using Barns X bullets. They are not accurate and leave too much copper deposits in the barrel. The new expanding solids by Hornady and Nosler are much better.
@22250rmntn Try another company's bullets: Advanced Ballistic Systems in AZ. Each bullet is carved from solid copper rod on a CNC machine to .000X tolerances. That's better than most high-quality target bullets!

Just use a good bullet that holds more than 75% of its weight! Of course you're gonna find fragments of lead if the bullet can't hold together. I'd like to see them try that with an A-frame or North Fork
Hey, I went to one of those non-lead shooting demos recently and saw for myself the lead bullets and all copper bullets shot into the ballistic gel and the water barrel. Heck if I'm not convinced - it's clear as day that there are so many little fragments from the lead it would be impossible to get it all out. I am switching to the all copper bullets just thinking about my grand kids, but also to be a responsible sportsman.
Wow I didn't realize that the lead bullets sucked so bad. I only use them for cheap target practice, that is all they are good for. I have been using Barnes Bullets only for hunting for the last 15 years. They are the ultimate hunting bullet nothing else even comes close..nothing. Now I feel even better about using them knowing that I am not killing my family with lead posioning. If anybody that has watched this video goes hunting again with a lead bullet your a idiot.

@22250rmntn if I use lead bullets on a deer is it safe to eat this meat? Do hunters only use copper plated bullets?

@jamesandthegiantpea Most hunters use lead
