  • kipping isnt the same as pullups a pullup starts with your arms straight and you feet off the floor then you pull up and then down so your arms are straight again. once you get the rytham you can do loads of reps with kipping

  • are the pull ups they are doing is what i hear every1 calling kippers?

  • Excellent comments, Tex. Just be sure you wipe off the spray tan lotion from your hands before working on that V taper. If you've ever done kipping pull ups, you'll find they're just as safe as any other method when done correctly. I've done CF, HIIT, and about 4 other workout regiments. Every one of them has their own benefits, whether you want to be in the best shape you can be in, or you want to look good dancing on the bar at your favorite cougar club.

  • I love CrossFit!

  • I dont know why crossfit has so many haters. Crossfit is a circuit training type of workout. Its not marathon training and its not bodybuilding. I mean power lifting is a sport.. bodybuilding is a sport... running is a sport... why not circuit training?

  • YOU GUYS HAVE NO IDEA WHAT CROSSFIT IS.... GO TRY IT PUKE AND THEN LEARN TO RESPECT CROSSFITTERS. I TRAIN WITH MAX HES A FKIN BEAST.

  • What is the weight that they are pushing???

  • @247vancity 95 pound Thruster (43,09 kg)

  • last comment was funny.. i thought it was a great effort.. last set of 9 was a little sloppy, but much respect...

  • that dude is really fit and quite strong, unfortunately he looks like a skinny nerd. Do proper chin ups and get a big wide back. If you want to get a cardio workout go for a run don't try to get it by swinging on the bar like a monkey. Crossfit is for people who can't catch or kick and think circuit training is a sport, most crossfitters want to be in the military and are pretenders.

  • @zalko70 Only self serving douche bags care about getting a big wide back. A big wide back serves no purpose other than to look good. This is what the military does. I can say that having served in the Marine Corps. Also I can say after being a marathon runner for 2 years prior to starting crossfit, that cardio in this form is different than running. This guy is in real total shape, not just the lame bodybuilding shape that is only useful when youre looking in the mirror.

  • @texasusa05 I see your point I think, why have a nice V taper and be able to lift your body weight with excellent form when you can go berzerk on the chin up bar as if your trying to dislocate your shoulders.

Greg Glassman the founder of Crossfit looks a million bucks (check him out sometime, you'll get a good laugh)

I hope there are still some marines capable of doing a proper chin up , but hey if this is your sport enjoy it, meanwhile I'll try not to laugh if I see you training.

  • @zalko70 Yeah I can do a proper chin up. They are a hell of a lot easier than doing kipping. Marines also know that if you are in combat trying to get over a wall, your V taper means nothing. You will use as many muscles as possible to get your body weight up and over as quickly as possible. So keep worrying about the symmetry of your back taper. I will definitely be laughing at the people training for that. One thing I wont be doing is reading any replies to this.

  • @texasusa05 don't take things so personally mate, I'm simply trying to encourage you to exercise using correct form. Hey if I ever join the military maybe I'll start doing this crazy shit, until then I will train correctly so that I look good at the beach , nightclub etc.

Honestly what is the real point of this rubbish ?

  • @zalko70 Do not talk like that, if you don't know anything about a human body and the best way you can train.

With kipping you will be faster and than the intensity will be way higher and THAT is the best way of training.

From arms locked out to chin over bar is always the same amount of work even Physical: W = F x s and s (distance) will be the same just like the strength (F) of your whole body. And not every Crossfitter will start in military, also a lot of firefighters and any other person

  • Why do we care what this bald twink can do?

  • Not bad at all dude, check out steve willis fran, he's an ex SAS from australia

  • lol weaklings

  • Awesome Work!! Way to go back to do that last thruster.

  • thats bad ass. the eddie vedder big hard sun was a nice touch

  • form sucks!!!!!!!

  • dude looked like a fucking choo choo train on those pull-ups... wtf

  • try em out. you won't rip your shoulders off

  • No thanks, dude. I'll stick with pull ups.

  • @diomedes39

    what about getting clotheselined?

  • you should try crossfit bro, it won't rip your shoulders off.

  • @sjktss you need to try those pullups they are actually harder than normal pullups

  • @alex4011 LOL...I'd LOVE to see someone do a CF exercise with strict pullups, especially something like Fran....

  • @360Imports What difference does that make, its a work out for time. These are the quickest. I would how ever like to see a crossfit person wear a shirt when they exercise.

  • @brownkv081 so if its a workout for time why would the speed of reps matter? i would rather do 1 correct pull up in a minute than 20 of those things

  • @jxcream I think before you say that you should try a fran as fast as you can. Trust me, I am a straight weight lifter. But I switch to crossfit every once and a while to switch it up, work the body differently, dont do it for long, its not as fulfilling as weights though.

  • @brownkv081 i do all kinds of stuff like this, strength and conditioning/SAQ all the time but if i were to include pullups i would do pullups, not THAT.

the thing that really gets me is that people will start to do things like that with fatigue, if you are exercising for a set time limit and begin to fail reps before the time is up then by all means use momentum to assist yourself, the same as it would be if someone were spotting you, but this guy doesnt even try, its just stupid

  • @jxcream Thats the POINT though, its just like if the person is doing an Angie workout. 100 pullups as fast as possible keeping stress on the muscle and system, kipping pullups allow you to go beyond failure, keep the tension and keep a high aerobic demand. In cross fit there are several workouts that require normal pullups and kipping in the same one. But as a standard Kipping is how pullups are done with these workouts.

  • @brownkv081 ok well if using this technique helps you hit objectives better than a normal pull up would then i guess its not as bad as i thought at first. but imagine the benefits of being able to do a fran with strict pullups? these guys will never know unless they try, although it would be a fuckin mission

  • @jxcream Exactly they are two very different techniques, like half reps and ass to floor squats, or Behind neck pullups and normal pullups. The thing about doing a fran with the Strict pullups...mainly because I always thought kipping was stupid...still kinda do is that it really neuters the work out, it takes ALOT longer. And its actually quite a bit easier to do with strict form, cause you HAVE to take breaks after those thrusters.

  • He was definitely short on a few of those pull ups, but his movement was so fluid. I still can't get the butterfly kip.

  • Anyone know the song playing during this?

  • lol yeah I am interested too

  • that is a funky ass kip! but if it gets the job done for ya, good for ya

  • its called a Butterfly pullup, b4 i found out it was a butterfly i said the same thing!

  • Impressive and GOOD form for the butterfly pullup!

  • I agree - he could be a bit more solid with his movements on the pull ups, have to say that Crossfit is a great way to improve full body strength. I hated almost every minute of my 5 months of commitment but wow did I ever see changes in my body an changes in times, reps, capabilities. If you're in any shape at all they will get you fit. You do need to be rather alpha male, hungry, whatever words you'd like....it's not for the lightweight.

  • No those are definitely butterfly pullups. Notice the circular flow. Kipping pullups have that S-flow.

And yes ninjanerd8, they are supposed to look that way. It's about maximizing power output (doing as much work per unit time as possible), and the only way to do it is to be efficient. The momentum on those pullups helps with that. Strict-form pullups have their own advantage but they do not help train power output.

  • the pull-ups he does is called "kipping"

  • vancouver bc?

    where are you based

been looking to get ceertified in crossfit

for awhile but didn't want to travel to the states

  • nice but i think pullups should have better form :)

  • It's called a butterfly pull-up. they're supposed to look that way.

  • Supposed to look that way? So his chin is supposed to graze the underside of the bar?

  • i feel the same.....still think the pulls ups could be better
