I use this song in Advanced ESL classes - a very clever use of different English idioms and expressions (High horse, come around to my way of thinking, etc etc). It always makes me homesick, though. Italy is a loooooong way from home. Love the Muttonbirds. Always have. Always will.
Hello there. New ESL teacher in USA here. I was thinking about using Mutton Birds' Come Around for my ESL class, and so I went to the video on you tube, and saw your comment. Wondering if there's anything special you do to intro/prep the class for the song, and also how it is received by your students.
Btw, visited NZ in 2002, fell in love with the Mutton Birds music.
I have been looking for this video for years. I remember hearing this song when it first came out and went and bought the single. Top tune from a top band.
I first heard this song on our local radio station during its UK release. I bought the single and consequently wore the tape out - I loved it! I've always wanted to use it as the opening music for a feature film script I've written, but that of course remained a pipe dream, until recently! I've just written a short film that has been funded by the Film Council so who knows? Maybe I can get this feature made one day.
i purchased this in a bargain bin years ago in a small uk town and fell in love with it... now years on thanks to you tube i am re u nited with it an now live in NZ life is good
God, I love this song, and love this band. When I am really homesick for NZ, this is all I want to listen to. THeir lyrics are always so clever, and add the rythm, and you have pure joy. They were great in concert, too. Saw them live in Christchurch, 1995ish....
this is my favorite song, i love it...

This is my favourite from Envy of Angels. Great tune with fantastic lyrics. Muttonbirds are a great great band and NZ should be proud of them.
