@HamonLord i see,today the only 2 important polytheist religions are : shenism (a short name for the chinese folk religion) and shinto ; the both believe in many gods,spirits,forces ; most of the others religions are monotheist ,even hinduism;the hinduism look polytheist outside,but the hindus say all the gods are manifestations of 1 supreme god; and taoism,buddhism,jainism are religions,they teach supernatural things,but they are no theist,their supernatural things aren't about a god

@kyonsuzumiyakim Shenism/Confucianism/Taoism or Chinese traditional religion in general has believed (and hopefully still does) in an absolute supreme God, named Shang-Di (sometimes also called "Tien") and the Dao is kinda like Brahman!

How can Chinese folk religions be so .. unknown today? This religion encompasses every aspect of Chinese thought, culture, traditions, history, etc. No wonder some people are so ignorant to Chinese culture, there's only about a handful of sources for this religion.

Because nobody knows it's name (Shenism), people (including the Chinese) just assume they are Buddhists or Taoists. In my eyes, Shenism is a heritage harkening back from ancient China that is slowly fading away today ..

@sufimystics I don't believe in buying incense or buying any product or killing any living organisms for religious purposes for that matter. But some Archaists such as myself seek to preserve the folklore and belief systems within Shenism.

PS: The religion did not do any "untold environmental damage" once upon a time. Communism was strictly secular, that's why it was banned in the first place. Indians, Persians, Romans all used incense too.
