so Dr Light sealed X away for time (30 years) that it would take for his Morality circuits to be completed dying of old age long before this time and thats how we come to the first Mega Man X game for the Super Nintendo.

X is a new robot, not the original MM.

Zero was the original maverick, carrying the Zero virus to spread it. As soon as Sigma punched Zero in the head it transferred to him. Sigma's advanced design was supposed to be immune to the virus. It held it at bay for a while before finally succumbing to it.

Wily most likely intended for Zero to pass the virus to X.

@ACRedsCreations no. first of all, Protoman was created by doctor light as the prototype for megaman, he was assumed to be destroyed by wily's robots. light made megaman and later finds out protoman was not destroyed, but reprogrammed to serve wily. since megaman was slightly superior to protoman, wily made a new robot to equal megaman, Bass. Bass turned on wily and so wily began a new creation that used the schematics of bass, but improved upon it, Zero. cont'd
