  • "Passion for God!"

  • Yes! Mr Washer we need this message in the body today. Lets be rooted and establish in this wonderful gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is worthy, to make his name know in a broken world and for us to be instruments of his grace.

  • God is not a pursuit. men can't go to God and only God can come to men. Further more how can a man who can hardly able to love a stranger able to love God whom he probably has never seen and known? Even the blessing of loving God comes from God Himself. That's why any man who could love God with all his hearts to be truly in love and loving God would get anything he asks for but so very few able to actually love because that came from God.

  • I dont see any meaness. I see a passion and a heart to help people. I see a sadness for lost souls. praise the Lord for preachers like this.

  • I NORMALLY SLEEP BETWEEN 2 TO 4 HOURS, AND I SPEND A LOT OF TIME IN PRAYER, BUT AT TIMES I'M SO EXHAUSTED THAT I BEG GOD TO GIVE ME A LONG REST, BUT WHEN HE DOES, I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO SPEND ALONE WITH HIM. I GET SO BUSY WITH MY DAILY ACTIVITIES THAT I JUST SEEM TO BE WIRED AND I CAN'T EVEN FOCUS ON READING THE BIBLE BECAUSE MY MIND IS RACING. I STILL READ BUT IT'S NOT THE SAME.

  • I BELIEVE THAT PAUL WASHER IS THE REAL DEAL. HIS SERMONS ARE UNLIKE ANY ONE ELSE'S. HE IS VERY SERIOUS NOT MEAN ... THIS PARTICULAR MESSAGE I HAVE FELT SO CONVICTED ABOUT MY BUSYNESS, EVEN IN MINISTRY, AND NOT SPENDING ENOUGH TIME BEFORE THE THRONE ROOM. IT'S INTERESTING THAT HE MENTIONED THAT THE LORD WAKES US UP SO WE CAN SPEND TIME ALONE WITH HIM. AND I THOUGHT I HAD A SLEEP DISORDER.

  • Funny,he never looks mean to me.Concerned, troubled, passionate maybe but never mean.

  • HEY - Thanks a lot for this great message

    God Bless You - SHALOM

    Ernesto...

  • Thanks for posting all these sermons, they are really a blessing!!

  • What a beautiful sermon. Thank you for sharing this with us.

  • Surely these days of ignorance God has

overlooked. But there does come a time

when God commands all to repent.

(Change) Know this..if we love God

    we will keep his commands.

  • "He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him."

    ~John 14:21 (NKJV)

  • What a moving message!

  • Thank you so much for this message.. God speaks to me truly..

    More blessings.

  • Once again, thank you dearest brother Lane for this Spirit filled message !

    Bless you !

  • Good grief. To suggest that it will take an "eternity to just know His name" is insane. If we throw down our ignorant "Bibles" and look at what God actually said, one could blindly point to any page and find Yahuweh's personal and proper name. How can you miss His name when He presented it 7000 times! Oh, I know-we trust men more than God. It's sad that this is titled "how much do you know God" and yet not once do I hear the proper name of God fall from His lips.

  • He asks "how have we defiled your name". The answer is by editing our Creator, and calling Yahuweh, "Lord", and by calling Yahushua "Jesus Christ". We are pathetic.

  • Maybe because you do not know Him. To know God is not just facts but an experience. You are very carnal in your response which may express your true heart.

  • If you see your neighbor and say "hey bud", or "hey dude", and you don't even know his name is "Steve" for example....how well do you reallly know him? Hmmm?

  • Our family doctor know's my wife's name and knows more about her anatomy more than I will ever know. But I know my wife better than my doctor ever will. She is more than a name and more than what you see. And I have alot more to go to even know about her. How about the creator, who is far more complex than all the universe put together.

  • Then I guess you are smarter than God because He thinks names are important enough to inscribe His 7000 times-all of which we substituted. One of the reasons this is so crucial is because if we know God's name, we can't be fooled by a false "god" that comes along and says "I am the God of Abraham, and my name is Fred...or Allah"

  • My "true heart" wants to expose lies and the liars who tell them. Had you known what the 3rd commandment actually said, you would know that is what we are ALL called to do. No, God didn't say "thou shall not take the name of the Lord in vain". That is stupid. One cannot take a name. Yahuwehs name isnt the Lord. And vain, not only isnt included in the text, that word means egotistical or failed, depending upon the context.

  • jaharrison,

I fully concur with Ezeekeel's comments about the best tools for Bible study. Make sure that you match your Concordance with your Bible. If you decide on NASB make sure you get a NASB Concordance. I too use the NASB because it so matchs the Greek text and also gives you alternate possible translation if the Greek word could have multiple meanings. Also, get the translation with side column references and wide margins.

  • Any recommendations on how to study God's word? I have tried to do it on my own and usually end up reading to much and I don't remember things.

  • Always remember the three C's, Context! Context! Context!!!!! lol I like the NASB post 95 translation because its the most literal from the Greek, pair that with a nice concordance, some atlas' and maybe picking up Dr. Wayne Grudem's Systematic Theology would be a good start. Also, of course, prayer :D

ALSO! I have the Ryrie Study Bible, NASB95..just a decent bible

  • Every single translation ranges from bad to pathetic. If you want to know God, you must forget what you have been taught, and look at what God actually had to say. To do this you need to visit the oldest Hebrew and Greek manuscripts on the planet. This is a challenging task but fortunately the work has been done for you-all for free. Visit YadaYahweh if you want truth.

  • As shocking as it may seem, here's the bottom line: Every religion on Earth is wrong, and God hates them. They are all man made-not Scriptural. They all serve and enrich cleric and king. Not one serves God. If anyone disagrees with this, tell me which religion serves Him? Every single rite and ritual we find in "church" is from Babylon-not Scripture. If you want trruth-there it is.

  • The true church is those redeemed by the christ Jesus. Although many imposters have and will come there is a true church known by God who He saves for His name sake. The most important question you have to ask yourself is are you in the church of Christ are you part of His bride. Have you been regenerated by the creative power that only flows from God. Or are you religious and depending on your own good works to satisfy goods justice?

  • Their is no "true "Church" because the first followers of the way didn't replace Yahuweh's ekklessia(called out assembly) with the pagan sungoddess's name(circe). Furthermore, your Savior is not named "Jesus Christ". That is errant on all accounts. In fact "christ" means drugged or whitewashed and is no where in Scripture....just like the "cross"-a Satanic symbol.

  • So what do you say about Yeshua the christ. The messiah. Who do you say that He is.

  • His name is Yahushua-not Yeshua. That is a Rabbinacle corruption by, you guessed it, religious men. Since thousands of words and names in Scripture are rooted in the same, there is no doubt about this.

  • Sorry for my ignorance. But here is the crux of the matter for me. I have nothing to offer Him I am guilty of the whole Law and I deserve a guilty verdict. There is no amount of good works that i can do that will make up for the sins against Him that I have done.

  • But I have received mercy, I received it graciously. I will not and may not beable to contend with you intelligently but this I can say I am saved by grace because I believed that Christ went to the cross as a purchase for my sin and I lay me whole life down before Him as a living sacrifice and He does with it what He wishes as it belongs to Him now. I am in debt to Him for an eternity because He has forgiven a fool such as me.

  • And there is nothing that I can ever do to repay Him for His love that was shown to me. I belong to the crowd of 1 Corinthians Not may wise not many strong that is me.

  • Please visit YadaYahweh if you want to know God better. Other than the original manuscripts themselves, I know of no better place on the planet for knowledge. Please understand that I do not profess to have all the answers and I am certainly not any better than you-on any scale. We need your type of personality to witness to the truth. Please go there and linger. You will serve Him better in this capacity, and make a wonderful tool in His belt.

  • Thank you and I will visit.

  • That is true my friend but you are not alone in that boat.

It is insulting to God that we even try to work for our salvation or to "pay him back" in any way. It's akin to offering a nckel contibution on a trillion dollar debt. It is wonderful that you understand this crucial concept.

  • google e-sword. it's a great bible study tool and is free. u can download many commentaries, hebrew/greek dictionaries and it has really helped me increase my knowledge of scriptures.

  • has anyone seen any sermon where Mr Washer doesn't look mean? If yes please pm or post a link thanks.

  • Is looking mean a sin?

  • nah man relax, I ain't attackin.

  • I don't get a mean vibe from Mr. Washer. I think he's just depserate and serious.

  • He's not mean, he maybe seems like it but he's just telling the truth that no one seems to speak out anymore...

  • yes.....lol

  • He smiles quite a lot in his interviews.

"Looking mean" may not be a sin, and may even be necessary in some cases. However, Paul's somber style of preaching may be an acquired taste for some. Indeed, Mark Driscoll, my own personal favourite, has a brilliant sense of humour that he often incorporates into his sermons.

  • Driscoll also has a myriad of things that he incorporates that have no place in Christianity like vulgar speech to win the praise of men. I pray God matures him and he overcomes this need from his peers.

  • John Piper, C.J. Mahaney and J.I. Packer have all given him public support. Please don't tell me that you have higher standards than these men.

  • Ive been to Driscols Church many many times. He's repented of the foolish talk, the course language and openly repented, confessed it to the congregations....numerous times.

Mark has done right by repentance, confession and open acknowledging what he did was stupid and sinful.

I listened to him confess and repent myself back in spring 09

  • Could it be that Mr. Washer has a serious look because he actually believes what he is doing is serious and important? Could it be that he actually believes this Christianity is a life and death situation? PReaching the Word of God is no time for a Johnny Carson style monlogue and cutsie little jokes. It's time for the Word of God and the Word of God only. God's Word needs no help from a bunch of one-liners.

  • AMEN, if only everyone would wake up man. God Bless

  • Well, not when you aren't being mean. :p

  • Haha.

    He doesn't look mean. :)

  • Yeah preaching the truth is more important than havin a smile like Mr Joel the false prophet Osteen.

  • Mark Driscoll preaches the truth, and doesn't look the least bit mean.

  • @Horoe there is a sermon that he gave to children.. you can seek it

  • @Horoe Mean? I see a zeal, a passion and a heartfelt concern that his message is truly penetrating our hearts and ears. If anything, I see and hear the love of a brother struggling to wake us up, to save us from complacency, from a false comfort that we so easily fall into. I learned the meaning of conviction, of my feeble repentance listening to this man. It's not meanness; it's the face of someone who truly cares for our soul.

  • @Horoe Jesus didn't preach butterflies, and joy. Jesus preached on Hell more than anyone else combined in the Bible. Washer preaches this way because it's serious, and so many who claim to be Christian are not. If you are offended by this preaching, ask God to show him what he wants you to see. The Gospel message is offensive, and it's supposed to be a scandal to those who are not converted. Many who claim to believe today is because they were raised to believe. God reveals himself via grace.

  • @Horoe .. it's not anger, it's ZEAL for God. Obviously & sadly, you don't understand.

  • @Horoe

Haha I never found him mean looking even when he was frustratedly speaking. :)

  • @Horoe A power of God to the regenerated and a stumbling block for those who won't come to light.

  • @Horoe

There's a good sermon on called "Do not be conformed to the world" on the sermindex youtube page. He has a red shirt in the thumbnail.

  • God bless you!

  • I preached this text not too long ago. I will have to sit down and listen to this entire video to see how Mr. Washer exegete the Scripture. Thanks for posting this!

    Leon

  • Paul Washer is just starting to pray - and he has me about in tears already for the grief of the Spirit. He's a man who deeply feels, it seems to me, the grief of the Spirit when we grieve the Holy Spirit. I had asked the Lord, "Where is the DL Moody of our generation?" Not that Paul Washer is a "cut out" of DL Moody - but someone who can feel that grief of the Spirit and the love of God - can tap into the grace of God in His love and grace and power in worship. Seems to me Paul Washer.

  • thanx for this lane. I was just talking about the same thing with my wife the other day - too many people running around spending so much energy on there ministry or ministries rather than on knowing God that's all we should concentrate on, the rest is God's work through us as a by product. We must remain in The Vine, apart from the vine we are just dry branches for the furnace.

  • Thanks Lane, hope you enjoy your trip,

  • Thanks, Bob! Hope you're doing great!

  • Paul Washer is a good preacher!

Thanks for uploading this. I'll enjoy watching this :)
