I've seen this same thing before at a AAA game. The fake dancing umpire walks into the dugout and the real one comes out I've seen it with my own eyes that's not the real umpire its a fake.

I was at the Minor League game they just put on at Wrigley Field and Birdzerk did this skit. I have a feeling he is a trained dancer who is in on the prank but also a qualified Umpire (for the purpose of this skit) because he WAS the third base umpire throughout the game. He positioned himself correctly to make calls and in fact made several calls when required to do so. This leads me to believe he is a dancer who also is a qualified umpire for the purpose of this skit.

I've seen Birdzerk twice at New Britain Rockcats in Connecticut. THE best mascot show ever. The umpire and when he steals the 3rd baseman's golve are my fave.

Yes, I am 110% positive. Notice that the ump has no gear at all in his ball bags (indicator, brush, balls...)? This has been done on several sports venues. It is always a dancer that they dress up as an official. They have done this in the NBA, NFL, and MiLB, and MLB.

League umpires have a patch on the shirt. This umpire did not have one. The umpire also had a hat on that was not a fitted cap. No umpire at that level wear a hat with a plastic strap on the back, they all wear fitted. That is not the real umpire. The umpire was not in the between inning holding area that they go to and the league office office would have a fit with any umpire that did that on the field.
