@busdrivermike13 I'm not superstitious, I've worn that jacket on many different bikes. I did crash my old Buell while wearing a harley jacket a few years back, go figure!
I have a z1000 2010 and tok a Vmax on a spin and first it feelt så heavy and slow. But that engine is a beast... when you give is some trottle after I got use to it the its out of this world. the breaks is unbelivabel... you can stop this monster with one finger
watched this video a few times now. wasn't impressed untill i started watching the speedo. holy crap!! i thought my gen 1 vmax would hit a hundred and whatever in like 0. immedently. can't wait to get my hands on a gen 2. ok, so i'm a adrenilan junky that can't spell. sue me
yeah. now that's the proper way to ride a bike. As for the v-max? yeah well I rode BMW nearly a million K's but I always gave respect to those scary bloody vmax riders..most of whom were psychopaths! just like their bloody bikes!!
that´s about 12 seconds from zero to 120mph - which is about 200km/h -- with a leisurely start around the curve - onto a common freeway - and she sounds like she wants to dance - always has and always will! What an ungodly FUN ride! FINE ride!
Respond to this video... Just so everyone knows, a night time video of the same caliber will be posted once I get some new tires on the bike and I'm feeling lucky.
Nice ride on that Iron Horse. I saw a new VMax on sale 200hp in Paris France at a Yahama shop quite expensive way more than 19000$ closer the 22000€ mark but it just looks amazing. The video shows you had another 35/40% in reserve... Freaky bike. Keep safe and ride that road !
@afar1 Not if you can afford it. I spent even more on my harley and MV Agusta, they were both worth every penny. Your comment sounds like something a jealous crybaby would say, get someone to change your pampers before you open your mouth next time.
Have you ever ridden the old style max? Is there any comparison or is this a completely different beast? I see your changing gear, something I don't need to do on my (older) max so often ;)
Oh and riding through traffic like that is only going to end one way, some idiot in a box with some scratches and a max rider with some serious damage, you may be the best rider in the world but there is always some half asleep, on their phone while picking their nose idiot who pulls across you..
@stujb You know, normally I wouldnt approve your comment because I really dont appreciate comments on my riding style. I can assure you I am fully aware of the dangers of riding a motorcycle, aggressively or, lets be honest, at all. I dont tell you how to live your life, I really dont need you telling me how to live mine.
And yes, I owned a 91 Vmax for 2 years, i was 19 when I got it. The new one will blow its hypothetical doors off, its absurd.
@stujb Also, I can clearly remember having to shift gears on my 91, I believe it had 5 and if you really wanted to push the bike, you needed to change gears from time to time. Maybe if you didnt keep yours in the garage, or took it out of first gear you might be posting videos of how fast it is, instead of criticizing mine.
@Magnuspire While I will always have a special spot in my heart for air cooled V-twins, I'm an equal opportunity motorcyclist. :) My MV Agusta Brutale was one of the most soulful inline engines I ever had the pleasure of beating the snot out of.
hey man sweet video! you think you might make another one? your the only v-max ridding video that was worth watching. so keep the rpm's up and the tire down on the ground.
That's some immense power. Is the speedo showing MPH og KPH? The acceleration seems like it's in Kilometers but I have the feeling that's in miles per hour. That's some acceleration!
Thanks for the ride. That was cool.. I have a 87 I bought used and a 91 max I bought new ... both of which I am selling and have been in love with the bikes since they first came out. if all goes well , I ll have a new one next spring ..I had a chance to ride a new one and they are very impressive bikes.. nice vid.. thanks
@44CONMANJ Thanks buddy, you should have seen the bullshit people were posting when I first put this up. You woulda thought I molested their parents, in front of them, while riding this exact bike.
If they think this is wreckless, come to Europe I would say. There scene's like this are an early sunday morning ride. I can't see the reason to be upset like you mentioned, and didn't they watch the news about civilians blown to smithereens in Afganistan without twitching a muscle whilst munching crisps the same time? I was surprised at your european riding style nonetheless. Carry on burning rubber and enjoying yourself with speed!
Gorgeous bike. I'm 20 and got the "baby VMax" Fazer 700. Hoping I can move on up to the Max once I'm more experienced. My dad got a 2005 VMax so I know what they can do! Love the sound of these beasts. Yamaha knocked one out of the park when they released this monster. Gave us young guys something to aspire to own. Have fun!
@superdupersuperpeder The temp gauge and fuel gauge are located on the dummy gas tank, just like the tach was on the previous generation. As I am in the united states, the speedo is in MPH.
@superdupersuperpeder This is my second Vmax, I had a 91 first gen when I was 19. It's unique as a japanese bike, has a lot of character and individuality you dont see with most plastic covered sport bikes.
@BiffBallbag Do the newer models got more hp/torque? I have seen one in real life, which is quite impressive considering i live in a town with around a 100 people, and the nearest city is more then 50km away. But we got some amazing roads with no cops so here is actually many "local" riders and some tourists. The vmax i saw was yellow with the sickest rear tire i have ever seen :)
Hi. Thanx for pretty video. I have quite "good" picture about acceleration of new Max now :o) Oh God...so nice highway and weather...I never sew 6 lines road...Hi-tech killer machine...Are You local ghostrider or it´s typical Atlanta kitchen...eh sorry, ride :o) ?
@skagitcom It will break it free in the first 3 gears on dry pavement with no problem, I did spin it in 4th at about 65 mph by accident once, the road was slightly wet. I live in atlanta, thanks.
Nice! I've got an 09, too, and just did the full UFO 4-2-1, program, air, etc. It's a quick and very fun bike. Not quite as quick as my busa was that I traded in for it, but it damn sure feels a lot quicker. I can't imagine anyone not loving this bike after riding one!
Hi Biffballbag I am looking at buying one of these I am 6 foot 4 and 286lbs I currently own a XJR1300. how is the max on long rides and does it accomodate longer legged riders. Any info would be good bro and fuck all the Internet moral Police !
I'm about 5 ft 10 and 250, I'm also all arms and legs with a short midsection, it handles me fine. Although I've heard of guys complaining who are around your size, people complain no matter what though. The bike is very wide through the middle, seat, and leg area, and its more than capable on long rides. My only real complaint is that it has a 4 gallon gas tank, and believe me it can drink gas.
beautiful machine with beautiful v4 engine and sound too bad that that thing weights nearly 300 kilos ^^ the best part is when youre reving that thing 10.000 rpm :D post another video where youre trying to reach the top speed of the vmax
I actually think the weight of the Vmax adds to its personality, its not trying to be a supersport bike, its more of an NFL linebacker. I did take some video of top speed runs, but I can only get away with it at night and the video quality isn't that great.
Excellent vid! I've never cut through traffic like that here in MN, but ours isn't that bad. I do have one question, in your first acceleration onto the highway, are you shifting clutchless? It sounds like you are, but your left hand moves! How in the hell are you clutching that fast?
That thing is such a beast, love the v4's, more of the Honda persuasion though, got a VFR VTEC and my dad has a V65 sabre and an ST1300. Check out my page, got a vid of my old VF700 up there too!
Thanks, and to answer your question, no, I am using the clutch. I just keep the throttle pinned, 2 finger the clutch in as quick as possible with my foot already loading the shift lever up, and BANG...I'm in the next gear.
I love VFR's, and ST's too. I was at the international motorcycle show this weekend, the new VFR is beautiful, you gotta see it.
Cool, I'll bet it's a kick to powershift a 200 horse bike! Cannot wait to see the new VFR either. Sounds more like my old sabre than my new bike, different crank geometry.
How much intake noise does the Max have? Sounds like a ton. After the VTEC transition on my bike, it's all intake, (not for long until I mod the pipes!) but it seems like a lot of stock bikes have that.
When I filmed this video the bike had a hi-flow filter and air box mod, but was still running the stock exhaust. Bone stock, the intake charge was noticeable, but not nearly as loud as this video suggests. The exhaust system I'm running has a great sound, imagine a ducati on steroids.
call me crazy but i can feel something like.. an aura of awesomeness coming from this beast...and the engine.. god...this sound
hayabusa cbr gsxr bla bla..this is something really GOOD.. i ve never felt like that for a bike...its like u are the king of the road...the sound..its accelerating..
vmax is ... i dont have words...nice man nice....i see you are 31 years old..can u tell me how u started?i mean which bike u got first and ended up to this... B E A S T !!!!!!
tell me one thing please :)
are you happy with your bike?(i know its yes but explain please :D :)
my first bike was a KX80 big wheel, I was 14. My first real street bike was a 91 Vmax, I've had Harley's, Honda's, Buell's, and a MV Agusta. When the new Vmax came out, I had to have it, so I sold the MV Agusta and bought the Yamaha. It's a great bike, stupid fast and relatively comfortable, my only complaint is the gas tank is too small.
Several members of the Star Vmax forum are from Australia, and we're rather upset with the pricing as well, not that I blame them. I do miss my old 91, it was my first real street bike and I have some fond memories of it.
That's just bitchin! Gets a WOW from me. I seriously can't believe the capabilities of that machine. Just easing down the road at 95 mph. Looked like at one point you accelerated 10 mph in less than a second. Incredible. I think my Roadstar needs a diaper after that!
Damn man, love that bike, its a beast. If I ever return to riding again I will get one of those. I got hurt real bad in a accident 3 years ago while riding my 07 GSX-R 600. Hey, do people in Atlanta ever get mad at you when you lane split? I live in Dallas and some of these suck ass drivers would get pissed and honk at you, talk shit or try to pull their vehicle in the middle so you couldn't go past. One fuck head tried to run me off the road so after that I started packing heat lol stay safe.
Well I can't carry a cop around with me and besides its not their job to protect you. All they are there for is to write you tickets and make a report of a crime. I don't care if people on the net know I carry. I have a conceal carry license. Stay safe out there.
@geegok I have been watching this for a year now.. Never have seen anyone else with the nerve to ride like this... Your good man.... I hope your still in one piece.. that bike is fast...
There is no original one, the bike doesn't come with a windshield. If you mean the accessory ones, I've seen them and dont care for the look. I still dont understand why it would make it more fun
there are original yamaha accessories for v-max - cases, high and low windshield and more.
it makes much more fun in speeds 100+ mph because youre muscles are relaxed, wind doesnt press you into youre bow and fast curves are more stabile, without chattering to the sides (from wind)
Ive ridden bikes with windshields, I still dont think its more fun, its more relaxed, less aggressive, but not more fun. As I said before, Ive seen the accessory windshields, and I dont like the way they look on this bike. Also, the windshield available for this bike are fork mounted, which are not more stable in the wind.
dear god, riding on the highway looks so much more nerve wrecking when you cant lane-split o.o

Hi Biffballbag I am looking at buying one of these I am 6 foot 4 and 286lbs I currently own a XJR1300. how is the max on long rides and does it accomodate longer legged riders. Any info would be good bro and fuck all the Internet moral Police !
westeh 2 years ago
I'm about 5 ft 10 and 250, I'm also all arms and legs with a short midsection, it handles me fine. Although I've heard of guys complaining who are around your size, people complain no matter what though. The bike is very wide through the middle, seat, and leg area, and its more than capable on long rides. My only real complaint is that it has a 4 gallon gas tank, and believe me it can drink gas.

Thanks for the advice I will go test drive one. Cheers

that doesn´t matter with the quality:)
hill800 2 years ago
beautiful machine with beautiful v4 engine and sound too bad that that thing weights nearly 300 kilos ^^ the best part is when youre reving that thing 10.000 rpm :D post another video where youre trying to reach the top speed of the vmax
hill800 2 years ago
I actually think the weight of the Vmax adds to its personality, its not trying to be a supersport bike, its more of an NFL linebacker. I did take some video of top speed runs, but I can only get away with it at night and the video quality isn't that great.
BiffBallbag 2 years ago
which video cam are you using that's mounted on the bike? It seems pretty stabilize, not shaky as my sony webbie.
lance71570 2 years ago
Its a gopro camera, i need to put this in the description as I get asked all the time

Nelso90 2 years ago
Thanks, and to answer your question, no, I am using the clutch. I just keep the throttle pinned, 2 finger the clutch in as quick as possible with my foot already loading the shift lever up, and BANG...I'm in the next gear.
I love VFR's, and ST's too. I was at the international motorcycle show this weekend, the new VFR is beautiful, you gotta see it.
Thanks again
BiffBallbag 2 years ago
Cool, I'll bet it's a kick to powershift a 200 horse bike! Cannot wait to see the new VFR either. Sounds more like my old sabre than my new bike, different crank geometry.
How much intake noise does the Max have? Sounds like a ton. After the VTEC transition on my bike, it's all intake, (not for long until I mod the pipes!) but it seems like a lot of stock bikes have that.
Nelso90 2 years ago
When I filmed this video the bike had a hi-flow filter and air box mod, but was still running the stock exhaust. Bone stock, the intake charge was noticeable, but not nearly as loud as this video suggests. The exhaust system I'm running has a great sound, imagine a ducati on steroids.

TheMindspank 2 years ago
my first bike was a KX80 big wheel, I was 14.
BiffBallbag 2 years ago
Nice Bike. The VMax will be my next toy. Did you use a GoPro video cam?
smcoats 2 years ago
Thanks, and yes I did use the GoPro camera.
BiffBallbag 2 years ago
Nice bike dude. Acleration 0-100????
jakopic77 2 years ago
Mindspank had said 0-62 mph in 2.9 seconds, or 0-100 kph in 2.9
Ill tell you right now, it accelerates so fast thats its scary, and I've ridden more than my fair share of fast bikes, this thing is nuts
BiffBallbag 2 years ago
Thanks mate,
Nice to see the new Max is still a Max. Your ride vid gives a great indication of what the new beast is like.
I think I will just keep in loving my 95 model. Here in Australia new gen maxes are $33,000. All tax :(
Thanks for the ride.
VadersVmax 2 years ago
Several members of the Star Vmax forum are from Australia, and we're rather upset with the pricing as well, not that I blame them. I do miss my old 91, it was my first real street bike and I have some fond memories of it.
Take care

Excellent video dude, this motorcycle is the most powerful I never see in my life..... make another video for us... regards from Mexico City.
pdagio 2 years ago
That's just bitchin! Gets a WOW from me. I seriously can't believe the capabilities of that machine. Just easing down the road at 95 mph. Looked like at one point you accelerated 10 mph in less than a second. Incredible. I think my Roadstar needs a diaper after that!

Very cool bike, Video was awesome. Yamaha makes one hell of a great bike!

I've been riding a long time and have all sorts of things take place. You tell everyone on the internet that you carry a gun?
BiffBallbag 2 years ago
Well I can't carry a cop around with me and besides its not their job to protect you. All they are there for is to write you tickets and make a report of a crime. I don't care if people on the net know I carry. I have a conceal carry license. Stay safe out there.

hey man love your ride also like your comment on those morally superior f...ers

would be more fun with a windshield
MrTriumphBMW 2 years ago
How do you figure? This bike looks absurd with a windshield
BiffBallbag 2 years ago
with original one ? did u see it ?
MrTriumphBMW 2 years ago
There is no original one, the bike doesn't come with a windshield. If you mean the accessory ones, I've seen them and dont care for the look. I still dont understand why it would make it more fun
BiffBallbag 2 years ago
there are original yamaha accessories for v-max - cases, high and low windshield and more.
it makes much more fun in speeds 100+ mph because youre muscles are relaxed, wind doesnt press you into youre bow and fast curves are more stabile, without chattering to the sides (from wind)
MrTriumphBMW 2 years ago
Ive ridden bikes with windshields, I still dont think its more fun, its more relaxed, less aggressive, but not more fun. As I said before, Ive seen the accessory windshields, and I dont like the way they look on this bike. Also, the windshield available for this bike are fork mounted, which are not more stable in the wind.
BiffBallbag 2 years ago
i had night rod i i was driving on motorway 160-170 kmh without windshield 2 hours long and i had pains in neck like an idiot after this
MrTriumphBMW 2 years ago
riding motorcycles will make you sore, this is true
BiffBallbag 2 years ago
good windshield - and its more fun, you may drive 6-8 hours per day and u r not very tired after that
MrTriumphBMW 2 years ago
Like ive said 3 times now, ive owned and ridden bikes with windshields, Im not putting one on this bike, what the hell is your problem?!
BiffBallbag 2 years ago
if i buy this bike next year ill buy also both windshields, of course
MrTriumphBMW 2 years ago
Are you going to put them both on at the same time? That would be cool much more fun than just one windshield
BiffBallbag 2 years ago
man u r funny, they are removable, hot weather = low shield, rain or long trip - high one
MrTriumphBMW 2 years ago
I've ben abducted by a professional windshield salesman
