Yes, that would be so great. Been diggin' his music for many years--his non-cliche's and chord voicings are great. A breath of fresh air with so many SRV and Clapton wanna be's. A player's player. I guess you've seen him and Carlton on youtube.
I have known of Robben Ford since I was 18 years old - a GREAT Blues guitar player back then - used to 'jam' with Paul Durket,Gary Smith,Lou Botini & others. I think he STILL has it - BUT JAZZ got in the way! I have 6 copies of the Charles Ford band album - STILL the greatest Robben has ever been. He has LOTS of competition today - many fine Blues guitar players!
well clapton is more of a legend, he brought the blues into rock music well actually chuck berry probably did but EC brought albert king and bb king into rock music.. but in a world as ours is today... he can't touch robben!
Ford and Clapton are pretty different in my opinion. Ford goes outside the blues harmony more, often plays diminished scales or altered dominant scales to make the blues patterns more spicy. Clapton doesn't seem to do that. Listen to Ford playing on the album "Minor elegance" with Joe Diorio, you'd swear he was a jazz guitarist who dabbles in blues!
Aside from being a brilliant guitar player to begin with, I especially like him quoting Day Tripper over the four chord towards the end of the guitar solo. The closest I've ever come to witnessing the brilliance that was early Clapton, SRV, Bloomfield, etc. was watching Robben play. Probably the best electric blues guitar player on the planet today!
Is this from the Mayall and the Bluesbreakers show in Dallas? I see Buddy Whittington and the BB's drummer.

Damned. I could listen to this all day. I, too, am quite familiar with his work, and, I never get tired of his improv abilities.

Don't underestimate Clapton unless you're a big fan otherwise your comment is not valued. The blues is the blues, no competition.

Clapton can't even compare to Robben Ford in any way as a guitarist. That's a joke.

I like Robben Ford better.

Robben Ford can wipe his ass with Claptons "level".
Robben Ford is 100 times the guitar player Clapton is, and I bet Clapton would admit that himself!

No one catch the level Clapton has on a good night... But Robben Ford is one of my top 10 blues favoritts
