  • Thanks for this video, i love the colour of your voice and it was very nicely done. My teacher has just given me this song. I also like how your voice is very open sounding (no strangled sound) Thank you again.

  • dare I add Groban-esk and that is intended as a huge compliment.

  • well I am about to start on this piece and I think you have wonderful poise, presence and voice!

  • I love love love love it, your singing and interpretation is great

  • Your tone is gorgeous. However you have some small dipthongs you insert in some syllables. Also, good job using your body for gesturing -- that feels more awkward than like it looks nice most of the time. :) Overall, nice work and well sung.

  • your voice is so beautiful :) really clear and emotional!

  • Three people are jealous of this video.

GREAT WORK :) You're a fantastic singer and the diction was right on. I am a fellow tenor and it's great to hear such a wonderful rendition of this piece. kudos!

  • I'm sure you've advanced considerably since making this video, but I feel it would help a lot if you could look a little more relaxed and into the mood of the song before you start. Your stand perfectly still stance doesn't prepare us to participate in your wonderful interepretation of the song. Beautiful voice and preparation. Keep singing!

  • gj man !!! the best amateur singer that sings it in youtube !

  • Other than that, the voice and tone is awesome! I really liked it!

  • One final thing, the sheet music places some syllables in odd places such as switching to the '-re' in 'core' on the second note of the word instead of the word. Naturally, this was changed when you did the piece. However, it wasn't changed in the second verse. 'Splende una face che l'almaccende' sounds very unnatural when performed the way the music directs it to. If you wanted to stick to the sheet music, that's fine, but you did modify some of the words, so I suggest modifying that verse.

  • @zamaramaaa Thank you for your critiques! However, this almost two years ago, and I haven't worked on this piece in a really long time, and don't plan to, unless I have to for some odd reason. My Italian has gotten a lot better, as I have had Italian diction as a class for this entire year, and I'm sure the coaches at my school would give more accurate advice in terms of syllable placement and emphasis. But again, I'm done with this piece, and it was a long time ago that this was recorded.

  • In my opinion, I think the stress on 'mia' should be emphasized i.e., the rhythm would sound more like a dotted eighth note and a sixteenth note. Also, working on lengthening the phrases, particularly in the first phrase of every verse. When I worked on this piece, 'Sento nel core certo dolore' was in one breath. Imploding the 't' more would give the sound a truer Italian pronunciation, this is really done well on the word 'turbando', but can be emphasized further.

  • Your voice is very transparent. And, your voice is young and beautiful.

You are doing pop how to sing. It is your good part. However, I think that you should decrease the portamento.

  • pessimo italiano ...mas mt musical e linda voz

  • @phdfoux Il mio italiano e' bene allora. :)

  • Congratulation from chile, wonderful , linda voz, cálida limpia ,estupenda interpretacion

    Bye

  • @samu01021 Gracias!

  • WOW you rock! i'm doing this piece for the districts music festival. thanks for an awesome example while i'm still learning it. good job!

  • I'm singing this song to try out for the Arizona all-state choir. You did a great job!

  • Splendid!

  • Dude thanks for putting this up, I'm doing it for a solo and I needed to hear how to pronounce the words!

  • very good! I'm learning this for a solo and ensemble event, and was having trouble learning the melody. Thank you!

  • This is what I am using to get ready for my audition! Thanks for the great voice!

  • good dynamics, you're voice is wonderful and is soothing

  • ive got a vocal competition coming up nxt weekend and im singing this song 4 my solo. I need a lot of work on it still and this video helped out a lot. Thanks 4 uploading it and good luck wherever u end up in life. u definately have the potential 2 make it big!

  • I'm actualy learning this song. I think you did really well.

  • Really Good! Incredibly smooth voice! I would just recommend not making it so breathy. Your phrases were a little short and not followed through in some places.. Overall I thought it was great though!

  • I've added this to my playlist. Thanks for posting!

  • You're very welcome! Maybe if i'm brave enough i'll post my performance in Feb.

  • You're very welcome! Maybe if i'm brave enough i'll post my performance in Feb.

  • You are so good. I'm singing this (the higher version) for my federation soon. Btw you are very cute. How do you do the third verse where it changes rhythm??

  • @TheatreObsessed15 Thanks! I'm not sure what your talking about with the rhythm changes, but I know it's standard to ornament the second A, but you should consult your teacher what exactly you should do. Be creative! :)

  • Pretty good. I used to sing this song many years ago and your video makes me remember all the classes that i had all pretty good memories. Thank You and keep singing, hope to heard about u in the future.

  • Me Gusta esta cancion... y tu interpretacion es muy buena... Que tipo de Tenor eres Lirico o Ligero??

  • Wow, Justin Bieber has apparently had a huge growth spurt and changed his style. :O

No, I'm just kidding, sorry. :) Not meant to offend.

(Though there IS some likeness, isn't there?)

And _awesome_ voice. Very awesome - even though I rarely listen to music like this, this actually gave me the "awesomeness chills" down my spine :)

  • I wish I had this when I had to sing it for my vocal exam 4 years ago. Its a really nice recording for sure.

  • Such a nice tenor voice!

  • What would be a good key to preform this piece in for a dramatic tenor? I have it in D,E, and F minor. I am currently learning it in E minor for private lessons, and will possibly preform this for either a student recital or my jury.

  • This is just wonderful. Thank you for sharing.

  • Hey its Israel :). It's ironic because during the time when i had to sing this for a performance at my school, i used your video for help, and now I just recently met you at Juilliard lol but awesome interpretation of the piece!

  • @Isreal94 Hahaha, oh my goodness, this is from so long ago! Thank you so much! Actually, your singing it brought back a lot of memories of last year.

  • @Isreal94 HAHAHAHAHA! Izzy!!! Same thing happen to me hahahaha!!! I just saw that he was A J-yard pre-college student and immediately thought of you lol... Then I found this comment haha!!! BUT thanks for the vid. It helped alot. :-D!

  • Awesome Job!! I'm doing this song in a competition next month!! You have such a beautiful voice!

  • Careful of your hands - use them once or twice, not during the whole piece. It's distracting and ultimately detracting from the performance. Tell the story with your voice and facial expression!!

Also watch your Italian pure vowels - great for your age

  • Gorgeous, but theres one big thing thats bothering me to death. When you start phrases (which you have great understanding of, dont get me wrong!) you tend to scoop. and its absolutely killing me, because its the only thing i see, but it sticks out like a sore thumb >.<

  • @Tomeres Thanks, I've worked that out; this is from a year ago, so I've made a lot of improvements. Thanks though!

  • I am learning this song for my applied voice class. Your rendition makes me feel almost inadequate. LOVE YOUR VOICE! you are definitely going places

  • @lyndisamson Thanks! Good luck with the learning of it.

  • You have an absolutely wonderful voice. I hope you continue to sing. What part do you sing? 1st Tenor? 2nd Tenor? Baritone?

  • @AviatorEvans In chorus, I sang second tenor, but I don't think of myself as that. I guess so far I just think of myself as a young tenor, but I have no idea what I'll grow into. : )

  • @dulcicantor so true. so many singers make the mistake of labeling themselves far too early in their life.

  • great voice....got future!!!

  • @Seven7Entertained Danke so viel!

  • I really enjoyed this very well sung song, thanks for posting.

  • Improve the expression on your face. When the aria starts you have a face that says nothing, don't you feel in your heart a certain sorrow disturbing your peace? Then show me, I have to see the sorrow on your eyes and brows (knit them)... Also try to watch your hands, they distract, it is better when someone moves them few times and keeping the line of the song (Try lay your hand on your heart when it says "sento nel core")... Lastly try to make your voice more elegant (less pop or open sound)

  • @Gianny214 Thank you, Gianny! Yeah, I definitely struggled with hand and face expression last October, but since then, I've gotten better. You should check out my newest video, Widmung. I think that's a better representation of my progress.

I really appreciate your constructive criticism.

  • de todas las que vi, esta es la mejor versión

  • Excellent technique and a beautiful timbre. You have to stop doing that sort of pop phrasing. I know Italian is kinda harder for people whose native language is english. But is brilliant !!! Watch my video singing this aria, and don't forget to leave a comment :) Greetings, and excellent job.

  • @Rubeus89 Are you smoking crack? It doesn't get much more classical then this? lol

  • @ClosedProductions , You have a different opinon but that is not an excuse to say things like "Are you smokinkg crack?" Learn how to discuss your point of views.

P.S.: My comment disappeared and I even don't remember what I wrote!

  • que bello sonido, que legato y que musicalidad felicidades

  • I have to sing this song, but when I see your video,I just really want to learn it,much more than before. Thank you! :)

  • Amazing talent! Really plesant voice.

Have to sing it on Tuesday on my exam....:S But now I understood that male voice is so much better for that song... I'm going to libary now to change my piece. lol

  • Amazing! i wanted to sing this song for my grandmoher, but i can't play the piano very well and it's hard to pick out the notes. :) great though!

  • wow i remember i had to sing this song in college.. lol.. wow.... i actually like it now. hated it then.. lol

  • @Maestroboi08 Wow, I'm honored! I'm glad you like it now.

  • @dulcicantor LOL!!! you welcome man... YOU HAVE AN AWESOME VOICE TO>> LOL, i tell you, you sung it way better that I did.. LOL!!!!!

  • I like it, you sang it very well :)

  • you sound lovely. I would suggest trying to keep your hands at your side or one hand on the piano and using your face to express the emotion of the piece. Its just a little distracting.

  • me gusta mucho como cantas, FELICIDADES!

  • Good...but i think u r wrong lyric in 02:44...

  • @Jackienguyendinh There are many versions of this song; in my particular book, the lyrics there are sung as written.

  • Felicitaciones! me gusta el sonido y la naturalidad de tu canto. ¿qué edad tienes?

  • Is already good. But to be great, take care with excess nasal sounds. Especially in (A).

    Need more support in general.

But you need to adjust are the nasal sounds.

    Congratulations.

  • im singing this song for solo & ensemble, are there any tips you can give me as far as the pronunciation at "splende una face"? i have problems at "una" for some reason, i dont know how its supposed to fit into the rhythm.

    you did an awesome job!

  • your entry to notes in the upper register are very professional. you also have a great dynamic quality. how long hav you been singing?

  • oh my beautiful jesus in heaven your voice is beautiful and so flawless ugh beautiful work

  • Thanks!

  • You're singing was fine. I have two other comments, though. First, try gesturing from the shoulder rather than from the elbow. Second, a few simple and fitting gestures used sparingly can be much more meaningful than filling a song with a, for lack of a better word, clichéd gesture. But again, very nice singing.

  • ohh, i must sing this song too

  • Dude, This sounds absolutely amazing. I've been trying to find someone doing this song to help me practice for my recital, and I think I found a good one :D

  • Dude you sound really good. I was looking up this video for a solo im doing for a competition. Very nice man, i dont sound anything like that lol

  • Try making your lips go WEE and then OO, over and over, the tendon lifting the cheeks up into the smile is the zygomatic tendon. (Also brighten your vowels more so the base of the tongue stays completely uninvolved.) Doing this while relaxing the body (activating those muscles I mentioned earlier), will give you the lift you need to get into that "mask" area. Find a teacher that will put you in the mask. If you are going to Julliard, Robert White a great teacher if you can get him.

  • You need to start using your facial muscles buddy. This is the reason why your voice gets tired so fast. You need to activate the lips, cheeks, including your zygomatics, occipitals and temporal muscles.

  • si es bonita la cancion tambien cantada i el cantante es bueno

    para ahhh

  • Congratulations! Excelent italian! Wonderful voice! Excelent job!
