It depends on the kind of camera. Sony camera's, like the Cyber-Shot I use, are relatively cheap from the $80 range and up but it, again, depends on what kind. If you're looking a step up in quality Kodak's are good; they're in the hundreds range and up. But if you're looking for professional in video and picture, Nikon cams would be best, though they are pretty expensive.

I mostly do anime convention videos, AMV's, random stuff me and my friends do and the like. ^^

Well it's best to use a camera ( one that picks up sounds really clearly. just ask the dudes at the store they know EVERYTHING! :3 ). They be nice and shiny and stuff and sometimes come with editing programs! 8D

For video editing... Sony Vagas! Best video editing program I've ever used and it's really easy! Though I've yet to put any of my videos up here. =A=;
