  • Perfect example of how to sell a film with a trailer. I never get tired of this one.

  • Love the film, cast, music and direction. Warren Oats was brilliant as was Roy Scheider. RIP

  • Saw this as a kid and was impressed but felt like the film was a bit too dry and serious.

  • is a very genial film thebest film ever

  • Now I know where Sega got their ideas for Thunder Blade from :-P

  • ROFLMAO MOVE BASED ON AN INVINCIBLE HELICOPTER

  • @FlentMan Blue Thunder kicks Airwolf´s tail!

  • Great cast and story.

  • Perhaps London could use a few of these.....

  • This is a awsome movie....

  • You know if blue thunder worked the air and knight rider and street hawk worked the roads well hell there would be no crime lol

  • Great film this truly is, i just noticed it is on channel 5 uk later

  • Love this flick. A great mix of gone but not forgotten actors. Thanks for posting my friend. Raul X.

    davide from italy

  • bingo catch you next time!

  • im here because of michael pactner

  • Pacter is invincible.

  • So where is the part where MR Patch building gets blown up

  • Rip JAFO !!!!

  • awsome ovie, love that line,

    "were in deep sh*&t, "

  • Everyone bangs on about airwolf, but for me Blue Thunder had a realistic feel to it

  • RIP Roy Schneider! Great film! Keep it up, Malcolm McDowell!

  • that was a long trailer! it would be cool if airwolf and blue thunder fought each other, but i bet airwolf would win though.

  • Great Movie... I´ve just watched... excellent!! The 80´s was special for action movies... This one, Die Hard 1 and 2, Nico (with Steven Seagal), Lethal Weapon...

  • This copter was the work-horse of the 80's!

    Bad-boys, bad-boys...whatcha gonna do?!!!

  • Very nice !

  • Chopper 4 kicks Blue Thunder's ass.

  • love love love 2:49

  • Welcome to the Police State.

No Warrants Needed---We will record you without warrant. We will use a tazer to enforce pain-compliance.

  • They dont need a Blue Thunder anymore, it can all be done remotely with UAVs and alot less expensive

  • RIP Roy Scheider.

    Great movie.

Blue thunder is essentially inspired by the AH-64 Apache, right down to the helmet targeting/tracking system.

The one thing an Apache can do easily is a loop :)

  • RIP Roy Scheider.

  • I love this movie, but I don't understand the big deal about using Blue Thunder to stop riots. Can you imagine the mexicans and negros running for their lives with a tv in their hands as Blue Thunder came thru. during the 92 riots

  • Buck wheat , Maybe some of us don't want to live as slaves in a Totalitarian Nazi Society being controlled by a tyrannical Government...That's why we dont want the helicopters..

  • @surfin02081 too late for that

  • @surfin02081 Welcome to the police state

  • J.A.F.O !

  • D :

  • this was such a cool 80's movie. It was a badass choper. still have the toy someplace....

  • All u need for that chopper is some music made by a japanese music composer, and some funky basslines.... hmm....

  • One of the coolest movies EVER!!! I think the t.v. show Airwolf got green-lighted after this made box office gold.

  • they should make a remake.

  • i agree with that

  • John Badham made one of THE BEST 80s Movies EVER!! And the score of Blue Thunder kicks ass! Another co-work of John Badham and Arthur B. Rubinstein. By the way. J.A.F.O. = Just Another Flying Observer ;)

They should offer John Badham a good script again. He should make Motion Pictures for the big screen!!!

  • Blue thunder has stood the test of time well, very memorable progressive movie

  • Pity this trailer is doctored. At about time 2:38, right after the Hughes banks? That's not a Hughes on his tail........that's Airwolf.

  • No, that's a Hughes. Airwolf hadn't been created yet. That show first aired in 1984, several months after the first episodes of Blue Thunder had already aired.

By contrast, the movie for Blue Thunder was filmed in 1982 and premiered in 1983.

  • Airwolf did exist in a sense, the Bell 222A which Airwolf is based on existed when Blue Thunder came out. They could easily make a new Airwolf, the Bell 430 is the successor to the 222.

  • With today's technology one wonders what kind of helicopters law enforcement and military have to enslave the American people and usher in the New World Order.

  • The kind that keep your neighbors from killing you.

  • @MiddletownDreamz I can tell you this, they got FLIR cameras with resolutions that can see through walls. Laser microphones and satellites that are capable of face recognition.

At the beginning of Blue Thunder, a message states "The technology depicted in this movie is real and is currently in use by the United States"

  • @MiddletownDreamz Look Up Bell 407AH Armed Helicopter Test Flight On Youtube.

  • @SuperSpannerX1 meh... thats just a Long Ranger with a gun, a rocket pod and a FLIR.. birds like those exist for a lot of years by now..

  • @MiddletownDreamz they don't need choopers when there's twitter

  • @MiddletownDreamz maybe mini-UAVs that have frighteningly awesome surveillance capabilities, even like the spidery disc drones from Minority Report

  • This must still be the meanest looking helicopter ever. Loved it then, love it now.

Does anybody know whether this chopper still flies?

  • Yes I do, and no it doesn't ! The modified "shell" that they applied to the French Gazelle helicopter is rusting away in a studio backlot in Hollywood, sadly.

  • l loved this movie in my childhood very much... my favorite person is young man who was killed... Richard forgot his surname. l almost wept when watched it:))) Good movie!!!!

  • Lymangood

  • Great movie

    Thanks

  • A great movie to end a great career that was Warren Oates

  • what ever happen to blue thunder?

  • you mean the actual helicopter?

well there's the front cockpit rotting in florida @ disney world

do a search on google images (disney world blue thunder) it'll bring a tear to your eye

along with blue thunder there's the spacecraft from flight of the navigator also rotting away in the florida sun

  • It's like Star Wars meets All The President's Men! One of Roy's best!

  • MALCOLM MCDOWELL (To ROY SCHEIDER, rather smart-aleckly, after pre-flight):

    "Let's play follow my leader!"

ROY SCHEIDER (To DANIEL STERN, in a mock English accent):

    "Follow my leeda!"

Funny. Thanks for the years of being the average joe's hero, roy. Bless you always, untill then...

    "Catch you later!"

    "C

  • LOL!!!!!!

  • Awesome Trailer to an Awesome Film.

    "But Murphy Stole Their Thunder"

  • They don't make movies like this anymore !!!

  • Yes, unfortunately that's true. They come up with all those computer-made shits.. Movies of the eighties, yeah :) I really loved this one! A childhood dream of becoming a pilot :)

  • That's a good thing.

  • I wish John Badham would make movies like this

he also did Wargames and Short Circuit

  • 'Catch you later'

  • "You're supposed to be stupid, son, don't abuse the priviledge!"

  • Hey...this is an AWESOME Movie & a CLASSIC... Great job all the way around... Plus it was Warren Oates last movie... It is in my DVD Collection! I can also say that I saw it in the movie theaters when it came out... JAFO "Just Another F*****G Observer!" David

  • However unlike Alex Jones who wages war on the state Non-Violently, Murphy wages war against the Govt with the very machine the Govt will use to on free American Citizens and wins! Moral of this film in the end is Freedom and Justice wins in the end against evil.

  • This is a great movie that is a warning for a future America. A conspiracy by an evil group to turn US into a police state by using the Military Industrial Complex to wage war against free American citizens. I think every Alex Jones fan should watch this film. Frank Murphy is your more switched on American, a police officer with a conscience, an Alex Jones like character exposing the evil plan of this group.

  • It's amazing how movie trailers have evolved over the years. This seems so slow compared to the trailers now. Good movie, though.

  • Best part was when they spied on the lady doing yoga - it probably turned many innocent teenage boys into full-fledged voyeurs...

  • LOL Murphy stole their Thunder!

  • Love this movie.. I used to have the toy when I was a kid.

  • This movie is a real classic that delves into conspiracy theories.

Also top performances by Roy Scheider and Malcolm Mcdowell ensured that watching this film would be a memorable experience. Credit to both those actors.

  • All time classic.

  • RIP ROY!

  • Roy Scheider, thank you for the movies. I'll alaways remember him as Frank Murphy.

  • Did I hear Dilbert at the very beginning of this clip?

  • Technically, you heard Daniel Stern. He played the part of Richard Lymangood in Blue Thunder.

  • A dozen of these copters and you could run a whole damned country...unless it's Iraq.

(Always a problem with these govt conspiracy movies. They're not very plausible.)

  • Blue Thunder...Jaws...The French Connection...All That Jazz...Seaquest. Thanks, Roy. RIP

  • We'll miss you Roy. Everytime I hear a helicopter buzz overhead, I'll always think of you.

  • RIP Roy. Bluethunder was my first R-Rated movie that I snuck into as a kid. I got grounded for weeks afterward but it was worth it!

  • One of the Best movie in my life...

    I will remember you......

    Thanks for everything.

  • my dad showed me this movie a few years ago and i really liked it - and i saw jaws as well. Roy really had a funny wit and great persona - im so sorry to hear he passed away.. he would have been a cool guy to meet - and i really liked 2010 as well with him. i pray that he knows so many truly enjoyed what he did for all of us. hugs

  • R.I.P. Roy Scheider:( YOU WILL ALWAYZ FLY HIGH AS FRANK MURPHY

  • R.I.P Roy :(, I will miss you.

This was my favorite movie growing up and it is my favorite today.

  • Roy was my hero.

    R.I.P.

  • RIP Roy you will be missed.

  • Now I can imagine to see Roy Scheider and Warren Oates in Heaven talking about how good they were in this blockbuster masterpiece! RIP you too!!!

  • Thanks Roy..That was the "Good old days" R.I.P.

  • Roy, thank you for Blue Thunder, you have been my idol since I was a kid, I'm shock because you are gone...

    a mexican fan...

  • awesome---always loved this movie growing up-- I can't count how many times I've seen it and watching this trailer just made my day. We're gonna miss you, Roy.

  • RIP Roy, we will never forget you!

  • i'm shock!

    never forget roy

  • Roy Scheider RIP...

  • Didn't this movie inspire the Sega arcade game "Thunder Blade"?

  • Yep...minus the missiles...that was SEGA's idea...lol

  • RIP Roy.

  • I think is an apache!

  • it's a Gazalle. They added on additional parts, a new cockpit, and cleared it with the FAA. The special edition is out now with loads of featuretts.

  • The look is reminiscent of an Apache however Highice007 is correct: this movie helicopter his underneath the add-ons a French made (Aerospatiale) Gazelle.

  • they had the ultimate weapon and the perfect plan...

    but Murphy stole their thunder!

  • Absolutely fantastic.

    How nostalgic watch this again.

One of the coolest movies of my life, eheh.

  • I think this was the first "really cool" trailer I ever saw. "They had the ultimate weapon, and the perfect plan, but Murphy stole their Thunder." Awseome. First time a trailer really made me want to go see a movie.

If you want to see an example of a terrible trailer, find the original "Star Wars" trailer. I saw that in the movie theater back in 1977 and thought, "Oh god, this looks like a terrible movie."

  • The movie and TV series brings back memories.

  • Whisper mODE!

  • I worked on that movie with the company called Impact Effects. I flew and exploded all the F-16s. It was a most exciting time in my life back in 1981. See my Video, "The Making of Blue Thunder". The R/C Blue Thunder Helicopters were flown by John Simone who did the loop in the original movie.

  • the F-16 wich explodes is missing its undercarriage bay doors

  • 80s the best.

  • Yes, genuine Turbomeca Astazou turbineshaft. Very typical sound, powerful too. Great aircraft

  • I saw the movie about 300 times. It's just great! No, I am not a neird, I am just into movies. I am trying to buy the last existing model to restore it, but Universal Studios don't want to sell it! Anyone got friends at Universal&?

  • blue thunder=GREAT ACTION FLICK!

  • great cast, great action, truly one of the best action films of the 80's.

  • This was just on SpikeTV last night and damn it...I missed it! I remember seeing it at the local drive-in when I was a kid. Good times and a real good movie.

  • if you go to walmart they have a 2pack of dvds with the special edition of BT, and another movie (I don't remember what one, but i'm pretty sure I liked it)

  • terrific, i love that movie

  • Lol is everything I can say.

  • they had the perfect plan and the ultimate weapon, but Murphy stole their Thunder.

  • Blue Thunder is a modified Aerospatiale SA 341/342 Gazelle.

  • too bad none of the 2 that they built don't exist, well there's the cockpit at universals backlot tour in florida, it's a shame

  • Yes and because I saw the Gazelle fly many times (it is almost retired now), I can tell you it is the genuine turbine that we hear.

  • yes the turbomeca sound is genuine, but the most distinctive sound of the gazelle is the Fenestron, this makes the high pitch whistling you can hear most of the time!

  • I don't think it's lame. It's a perfectly decent airbone action film, and a nice conspiracy thriller to boot.

  • there was a serie call blue thunder also, like Air Wolf, still its a good movie

  • & in the tv series of Blue Thunder, JAFO was played by SNL star Dana Carvey

  • fantastic movie, IMO it wasn't lame, just dated

  • great!

  • Blue Thunder was a good movie lol I love it and I agree, its so lame its good lol
