I saw this movie Milk when it first came out. I saw it in a Tacoma (Washington) movie theatre. I loved the movie, the way it was played out. Although there will never be another Harvey Milk, hopefully, there will be other gay and lesbian activists and friends to take up the challenge.
I find it disgusting that today Harvey Milk day is celebrated. Milk was a pedophile that slept w/ underage boys. It's a fact written in the book: Life and times of Harvey Milk.
We all have the right to express any sentiment, fashion, and lifestyle we choose to express. As long as it we personally feel comfortable with it, and it makes us happy, why not be supported in our joys? Why be oppressed and be pushed against the wall so-to-speak? Joys are joys. Some personal, some public. And someone's sexual orientation is a very PERSONAL matter, that needs to be respected in all ways.
The gays here in N.C. live a safe, little sheltered life.Their clean-cut conservative ways, and the college, redneck environment doesn't help it.The gays here are very open alright but not like i know what "Open" means in the "Castro" District. This is a very dead-boring college town, full of snobbish pricks!!!
I hold my head up high,i'm gay,but not Gay like these Queers in Greenville,N.C.,i'm more Flmaboyant,i dress Urban like,i have a Flare for fashion. These Homos here can't stand someone that gives it to you raw. They won't even protest here, they say they are not all about that here in the Bible-belt.Their excuse is:It's the South.
The Homosexuals here in the South hate Queers like "Us" that come from Big cities, they think we should tone-it-down,they look at us like we are the bad-guy.but in fact,i'm just being myself. They Gay community is open but not open like we know it.I hate it here,i can't wait to head back to cali.I'm a Diva, theres more to life than here, trust me!
@BiggDaddyGregory No need to get buut-fucked in public, Greg. One´s sexual orientation should not matter to anyone other than the one he/she´s screwing.
The gays here in Greenville,North Carolina hate Flamboyant Queers like myself,i'm from California. The Gays here in N.C. act all funny, look at you weird if you even dress loud or act all Flaunting, they hate you because "We" make them look bad,it's the Bible-belt.They are very conservative Fags!!!
@BiggDaddyGregory It's the same in all parts of the world where gay oppression is strong. I hope you can realize that like animals, people adapt to their environments in ways to ensure their survival. Instead of placing blame or criticizing the NC queers and feeling like you are oppressed by them, how about looking at the bigger picture to see WHY they are the way they are, and focus your anger on the local conservative political scene that has conditioned gays to hide. Just a thought.
I am in your generation and I was born in SF in 66! If I was still there I would of changed that shit hole place! Such a beautiful city, such lame people!
This man in leather really gets it. and hes cute too! I agree the movie will live on and many people will come to see it and thats how change comes about..
I met the filming troupe when I went to San Francisco last summer, they were so friendly, I didn't even know what they were filming, it wasn't until I asked them what they were doing and they told me a film with Sean Penn and Josh Brolin, I thought they were just making some tv commercial!! Mind I should have known everyone was dressed like the 70's i just thought it may have been the fashion, it has come back you know!!
There exists also a documentary "The Times of Harvey Milk", made 25 years ago,(winning academy award 1984 as best documentary) w interviews w people close 2 Harvey + Harvey himself : full colour, and real footage of what happenned, TV excerpts, etc...This one is available itunes + Amazon. MORE INFO + LINKS on my channel. The whole documentary was on YT by somebody from Italy 2 months ago, but removed since a day I think.
Harvey Milk is a gay hero. The anger and desperation of a few of these commentors reflects their awareness that THEY ARE LOSING. And name calling probably doesn't endear these so-called Christians to the public at large.
Maybe he's changed. You don't personally know him so it's not right to judge someone, especially after such a wonderful movie has been made to support the movement.
The gentlemen in the leather outfit really nailed that interview! So, did the second gentlemen!!! I know that Sean Penn will be nominated for an Oscar!!!

Milk was a boy lover. Look up how Milk had a 16 year old lover Jack McKinley when Milk was 33. Dont celebrate pedophiles.
