The US has chosen devaluation as the way to pay the $52 or 57 or 60 whatever Trillion. But the US has more gold reserves than any other country, so it is not clear to me whether the Fed secretly wants higher gold and a return to some SDR-style, partial-gold-backed reserve, which would wipe out 1/2 of the US debt, screw over China and keep the game going. What you must understand is that the US is now a Third Wold oligarchy, not a republic. The consciousness is no longer Western/European.
