I was recently in the UK, and The Strokes are 100X more popular in the UK, than in the States. In the US they are simply known as ''an indie group'', in the UK they are simply known as ''mainstream''. And this video further confirms the level of they're popularity in the UK.

Just like Kings of Leon, they were so popular in the UK, and barely known of here in the US, and because of this, they released Only by the Night, an album made purely for the desire of being succesful here.

The album was shit, but sure enough, they were topping the charts and stayed at the top of the billboard hot 100 for several weeks.
