  • I wanna see on what he does to stretch, so he wont get any cramps or strains.

  • I think that power cleans have helped my vertical the most

  • at 0:57 what was that? Cause that in no way was a DL that just looked bad for his back in every way.......... Noticed he was spiriting i heard that is very important to jump higher so nice on that!

  • how tall and how much does he weigh now?Vertical?

  • hes fast as FUCK

  • do you've any tips on how to gain strength without gaining mass?:/

  • @abotrumafro lift really hard and not really long. and obviously you can't over eat. those are my simple tips but in the end it's gonna come down to figuring out your body. different people respond differently to training

  • @jumptrainee1 ok, thanks :)

  • @abotrumafro You can be like brandon todd, and still have a 42 inch vertical, that dude is fucking huge, search him up he's 5'5

  • @abotrumafro easy question... light weight many reps= strength. if yu do heavy weight with low reps= mass

for example.. youl get hell of strength if yu do like. 15 pound dumbells 60 times thats strength training. but for mass get lke a 35 lb dumbell and do it like 5 - 8 times.

  • @abotrumafro Do light weights with lots of reps.. that will get you lean, slender muscles. Heavy weights with less reps builds mass.

  • its good to see someone who actually knows how to train the vertical, there are to many trainers out there that just put their athlete through random flashy exercises with no programing and expect them them get stronger. Keep up the good work.

  • this kid dunkin yet?

  • hey are you still training chris? and hows your vertical as of right now?

  • @ballerlh2314 chris is in milwaukee for the summer. He got mono back in January. That was a huge setback. We got him back to getting his hand over the rim. He'll be training again come september.

I've been working third shift in a warehouse since february. My training has been on and off and I've gained 20 pounds, so my vert is pretty weak right now. I'll be done with that in August and plan on making a serious comeback

  • For those of you hating on him, let's see your videos.

  • what program from ur site did you have him on... intermediate B?

  • @BEYONDILIMIT He started on something very close to Intermediate B, but since then all his phases have been more customized. the training on my site isn't all that specific, since I'm not in contact with the people using it

  • @jumptrainee1 oo isee so have you heard of that custom program vertical mastery?

are custom making programs def worth looking at?

  • @BEYONDILIMIT yeah i've heard of vertical mastery. I've had some email correspondence with the creator of that program. Never seen the software though, so I can't comment on its quality.

Yeah your training should always be made to fit you

  • @jumptrainee1 okay well lets say i have relative strength like 235 lb box squat max and 330 lb deadlift at 150 lb... the program then wants me to do mostly explosive plyometric drills... sound confusing b/c i see that i would only do some lifts but explosively w/ light weight

  • @BEYONDILIMIT ok so it's saying that you're pretty strong and need to focus more on explosiveness and plyos. what's the confusion?

  • @jumptrainee1 b/c doin certain squats w/ hardly any weight but explosively it sounds wrong but yea i ugess it goes w/ the plyometrics you are talking about

  • I love the lunges mixed in with the jumps at the beginning of the video.

That gives the lunges a lot of the benefits of the plyometric principal.

    Great video!

  • does the leg press and machines help my vertical?

  • yo whats up with chris man, i need a vid from him, its inspiring to see his progress, how much has he gained so far?

  • he didn't get much training done in the last few months just cuz we've both been real busy. and now he has mono. inactive for 6 weeks. that's gonna be a huge setback

  • whats a mono?

  • mononucleosis. it's a virus that makes you really sick for a while

  • i love the laugh at the end lol

  • Hey Man..Hows Chris doing on his jumping???can he dunk now???can you post new videos pls...im following what he is doing...thanks!!

  • we were both real busy this semester, and i was sick a lot, so his training has been kinda inconsistent. right now he's back home. on his best jump he almost had his wrist on the rim so a little progress. we should be back on track in the next few months

  • keep doing your great vvork .

i vvould love to have the skillz to do that

  • how tall is he?

  • Wow this kid sure has come a long way. I watched some of the old vids and he wasn't even that close to the rim. Has his reach grown at all or are these just pure results from the training?

  • Still 5'5 hasn't grown and won't, results purely from training

  • Jumptrainee, I can currently grab rim off one leg. Can u tell orake a video for one legged jumpers? Also, can u tell me the best exercises for both legs? I'm nearly 15 and 5'9 tall w/o shoes.

  • how old is he

  • for your height your flying! and your lucky you have equipment and places like this to train. Me on the other hand :(

  • nice vid and congrats on grabbing the rim Chris. :D anyway i just signed up at a "real" gym.

did my first squats and i felt pretty pumped up afterward.

well now i'm sore... mostly in my leg and knee sections. not joint pain but just muscle soreness.

been 2 days and i was planning to work out today.

does the soreness mean that my body is rebuilding muscle because it wasn't accustomed to doing squats?

should i work for the soreness to be gone before i work out again?

  • if you're doing a high volume strength phase, it's ok to be a little sore going into a workout. There's nothing wrong with taking some extra rest though. that's often necessary when you first start lifting

  • alright - makes sense.

on your blog somewhere, you say that u gained 12 inches when you were 13 and then 8 inches when you were 15.

what was your vertical before this 20 inch increase?

and question 2 lol. what are the best excerises to do w/o equipment? not like the beginner plan you made but just for fun. kinda bored right now and i don't want to hit the gym

  • oh thanks for the reply also one more thing i've been stretching to increase my flexibility but i just still get tighter and tighter and ive been stretching holding htme for 3 sets of 20 seconds and still i dont gain flexibility if u know can u tell me why if u can and thx for last reply

  • Comment removed

  • hey dan on ur old vids u left me a comment when i asked u how i can increase my flexibility

but i lost it so heres my question

when im stretching to increase flexibility how many secs and sets of each stretch should i do and how many times a day ( i run a lot and have wieght training for wrestling during my day) thank you

  • hold stretches for 30 sec, do it after your workout at least, and if you want to do it multiple times you can

  • Hey Dan, I have been doing leg workouts and plyometrics once a week. How many weeks or months should I rest my legs?

  • how tall?

  • Comment removed

  • fuck he nearly hit his head on the backboard , how can he not dunk

  • still needs half his forearm above the rim to do that but hes getting there

  • wow congrats to both the trainer and trainee... what was the starting vertical? and how much were those deadlifts?

    CONGRATS

  • Hamstrings are so underrated its all about the quads and calfs nowadays.

  • What's his vertical now and running vertical?

  • about 30 and 38, depending on the day. the clips in the video are actually not from the best jumping days he has had

  • Comment removed

  • what are you lifting numbers like now compared to when you started and what are your vert numbers compared to when you started?

  • squat 185 to 255, but he hasnt actually squat for several weeks. vert is like 28 to 38 now

  • how many weeks has it taken you to go from 28 to 38?

    What's your standing reach also?

  • sick man, the jumps into the lunges looked a litle rough for the first few, but the rdl's and the knee drive exercise or whatever you call it looked real solid, you were being real explosive

    jumping high man

  • Nice, can't wait to see the dunk bro...
