  • Couldn't see half the writing due to the planet's white-ish colour.

  • The planet Uranus looks so beautiful in her blue coat but she is so cold !

  • i saw uranus on my telescope and i saw the rings

  • its sad they dont know much about Uranus

  • Ever notice how a lot of the planet size scale videos here on YouTube don't include Uranos in the lineup.

  • @InsanityHere becouse neptune and uranus are almost exactly the same size.

  • Very beautiful video! Congratulations!

  • I'm in for changing Uranus' name to Ernest, named after Ernest Hemmingway. I mean it's ideal since most of its moons are named after literature XD

  • i love this planet cuz yesterday , i had to explain to my teacher about it and evey time when I had to say uranus , i sad youranus to my teacher ..... :D so funny

  • remember it doesn't sound like iz in the is part i mean

    u-ran-is or u-rain-is

  • @Barneyblue18 or you-ra-nus

  • I pronounce it

    "u-rain-is"

  • Go to the planet Uranus it has a lot of Moons!

  • I think the Uranus is a "Ice wanderer" because Uranus is Filled mostly with ice and "planet" is a greek word of wanderer.

  • Wait,is Uranas the third or fourth biggest planet?

  • @Barneyblue18 The third largest.

  • Correct me if i'm wrong, but I looked up Uranus on Wikipedia and the symbol maybe got changed to a circle with an arrow on the top, with a dot. Am I mistaken or are you?

  • @tylorboy6 Lets say we are both right! Remember there are two types of symbols. :O) The one your talking about is the astronomical symbol. The one i display is the astrological symbol. Hope this helps. All the best!

  • @AggManUK uranus is quite pretty

  • my favorite planet

  • I've been waiting to use this line when it was deemed unnessisary and anti forthcoming so I shall enjoy this with every fiber of my being... "DAAMMNN NATURE YOU SCARY!"

  • At the start of this video it states the planet was NOT known by the ancients!!

The 6000yr old Sumerian culture described Neptune AND Uranus as "Small Green Planets" Seems they were RIGHT TOO!

How could they know this - The aliens that lived amongst them told them so!

    Regards

    Andy

  • Another fun fact, Uranus has a magnetic field 50 times stronger than earth's, while Neptune,a planet near equal in size, has a magnetic field 24 times stronger than earth's. Any ideas as to the reason Uranus has such a strong field?

  • @Narutotrainer you're either really dorky, or that was the best pick up line ever.

  • jupiters grandfather

  • On the other hand, this is a really informative documentary about the planet. I never knew Uranus had dark spots until now.

  • Who agrees to change the name of the planet. No matter how you pronounce it, it still sounds wrong.

    1. Ur-anus

    2. Urine-us

  • @hoteliwinshowcases Countless LOLs for the second word man.. very clever indeed!! Urine-us... LOL

  • Whose stupid idea was it to name the planet Uranus? LOL

  • @Mautiks= The Romans. It's the name of an ancient sky god. He's the father of Zeus.

  • very informative. Much more info than I ever thought available. Thanks!

  • THE SUMERIANS KNEW THE COLOR !!!

they knew the color of Uranus ... AND ... Neptune

They knew this...6,000 YEARS AGO ...how did they know ???

    Look into ZECHARIA SITCHIN

  • @CamIAmSo how do you know that?

  • What's those dark spots on Uranus at 3:20?

  • @Neneandkim Shadows from the moons.

  • @AggManUK Thankyou.

  • @Neneandkim Uranus has dark spot??

  • @chesleycareystar No it's just shadows.

  • i came because of jackass 3.5

  • ty i needed this information for a project

  • really enjoying your videos! Thumbs up from Scotland! Are you an astronomer? :)

  • wtf!!! this is some crazy legit stuff, awsome just awsome great video 2 thumbs up.

  • Ice Queen

  • Awesome Vid...Loved it!

  • That would be awesome...so I could sleep for 42 years?

Move over Rumplestilken. Or whatever his name is.

    I'm going to bed...

  • intresting

  • have you madethis video? if yes, you deserved a Nobel prize

  • have you madethis video? if yes, you deserved a Nobil price

  • nice video!

  • Space allows such a distance and differentiating light shift that the appearance of Uranus' thermosphere would likely be more of a grayish white. That is, if one could see even a foot outside of their imaginary travel apparatus in the first place while entering the atmosphere.

  • Wilhelm Herschel please. He was German (from Hannover).

  • @MillyVanillification He was born Friedrich Wilhelm Herschel in Hannover. However, he moved to England and anglicised his name to Frederick William Herschel. Good to clear things up. Many thanks for the comment, i hope you enjoyed the video? All the best.

  • uranus is our greek word for sky... It is spelled in greek: ouran'os

  • @kthebig3773 Very interesting, thanks!

  • @AggManUK :)

  • @AggManUK nice clip man

  • Uranus is more colder than Pluto? wow! but there's a moon called Miranda that is the coldest body of the solar system .

    thanx for the information

  • I dont know why, but I get this uncontrollable urge of thinking that uranus's nickname is the "Mentos Planet". I mean, look at it. its so clear and featureless. I like it! This is one of my fave planets alongside Earth, Mars and Neptune.

  • how many of you guys know that uranus means sky in greek

  • Thank you. Great work.

  • The way that uranus had its poles have continual light for 45 years means that it would be vary interesting to see what happens because of that.

  • Why isn't there allot more research going on with this planet. This planet might be the most interesting one of all to look into.

  • i was must have named all the planets in the solar system a hundred times, and each time i said Uranus, my friend would start giggling. i laughed too, until about the hundreth time, and then I was just like "okay hayley, i get it, it sounds funny, can i work on my model now?"she is quite immature. and for some reason she thinks venus is funny, which i kinda get, but why?

  • gorgeous video...thank you so much for posting it!

  • AggManUK, I really like your phrase, "Into the Wonderful". Descriptive and romantic.

  • Don't know why but I'm just now discovering that Uranus was discovered on my birthday..I've always been interested in it somewhat, but back in the days of public schooling, I was sadly too embarrassed to admit I had a huge interest in Uranus.

Not anymore though, and how I regret conforming to peer pressure.

Thanks for posting a very interesting and informative video, subscribed.

  • the very last picture looks like Saturn's rings

  • absolutely beautifully made. the choice of music complements this soooo well. i hate it when guys add some acid rock, deafening musac to their vids... AggManUk, my complements.

  • Uranus is an odd planet, I wonder why there seems to be so relatively little interest in it. (Probably because Neptune has Triton, which makes Neptune a more attractive ice giant.)

Still, I'd like to know more about Uranus as well, how it redistributes heat through itself, what that bright crater Wunda on Umbriel really is, and how Miranda exactly came to be the frankenstein moon it is.

But even so I have to admit Neptune IS probably more interesting with Triton there and all.

  • Can someone give me the music link?

    Love it good info!

  • Thanks a lot for sharing this great videos with us m8

  • A lot of rocky material make up this planet? I thought Uranus is a gas giant.

  • @bandet888 The rocky material is supposed to be only at the very core. Then further out is a weird form of different kinds of ices, and then lots of gasses. Not as much gas as Jupiter though, that one's a monster compared to Uranus (and Neptune).

  • @bandet888

Uranus is an Ice Giant. It's main composition is frozen gasses.

  • @Xeno yeah

  • I hate uranus jokes.

  • aww, gustav holst made some epic songs for these planets too :( excellent vid as always

  • Umm

    Symbol looks like ENTERPRISE.

    god of the sky.

  • My favourite is Neptune)))

  • Im surprised there aren't more anus jokes in the comments. Cngrats to a mature audience

  • @Jahzard37 There are plenty posted almost everyday. I just delete the comments and ban the person from posting again. Nice to see there are more mature people than idiots though. So a big thumbs up and thanks to them and indeed yourself. :O) All the best.

  • @AggManUK Ohhh, come now. A little juvenile humor won't kill you.

Besides, one smile is worth all the knowledge in the universe....

  • @circutracer150 Oh i don't mind a joke, but when you hear the same one 500+ times.... I am sure you can guess how tedious it gets. It also seems to be the same people too, hence the ban. :O)

  • @AggManUK LOL, well I can certainly understand that then.

  • @Jahzard37= Well, it got old.

  • They should call Uranus Uruptas.

  • Wouldn't it be ironic if Uranus looked like Venus?? haha all that aside great vid! Very informative!

  • i wish i could run 2.88 billion km. D;

  • YOU are incorrect in your ascertion that the Ancients knew not of this planet. Sumerian Cuniform records show that this incredible Ancient race knew of this planet and also Neptune. Willaim Herschel RE-discovered it. Well done Bill.

  • @4n5w3r4 How do you know what ancients i was talking about? :O)

  • @AggManUK great vid! 4n5w3r4, I don't think the Sumerians could have known about planets that they could not see. I've read in multiple places that they knew of all the planets observable to the naked eye...

  • @4n5w3r4 How did Sumeria know it was there like 5,000 years ago? With their telescopes? The ones they didn't have? How were they going to be able to see Uranus and Neptune? From the sky? That's like you standing like a hundred meters away from a sand box and trying to see one specific grain of sand, actually believing you can identify it for some reason then carving the information into a hunk of clay. It's infeasible.

  • @1908DanGreen Both Uranus & Neptune are visible to the eye in the night sky, so i don't see the problem. Today you can go and buy a cheap cardboard chart that will show you there position, So it's perfectly feasible that they could see these planets. Also, with no light polution back then, they would have a better view than most people do today.

  • @1908DanGreen Ancient Sumerian Cuniform texts deciphered by zacharia sitchin state many incredible facts about the cosmos that were ignored when he first decoded them, but which modern science is slowly starting to prove are true. how could they have known? HOW?unless sitchin was right, and we are not, and never were, alone. personally, i just love what I see up there on a clear night...there is so much more to the Ancients than we're every allowed to learn.

  • The music is real good!

  • i love the music!

  • There was a God named Yournis. Spelled Uranus. Has become a running joke.

  • music is fanstastic

  • this remaid me a god creature

  • at any given night you can easily see uranus

  • Uranus. Indeed a fascinating planet. Was actually my fave planet when studiying astronomy as a kid. Just nags me that the only reason why people remember it's name, is because of that stupid mid school joke about it "Ur anus" Grow up, morons!!!

  • wht are the dark spots that it showed

  • This is very good !

I knew little about Uranus, but know I know a lot !

  • '

saturn and uranus are almost same rings around

  • apparently this is my birth planet since my star sighn is aquarious

  • My Planet

  • great video....and excelllent choice of music....thank you

  • I give 100 Internets to whatever troll discovered this uranus.

  • 5:19. Very young rings, indeed. The Cambrian Explosion hadn't even started. There were no vertebrates yet.

  • the ancients knew more than we do yet . it was the so called modern man namely the church that didnt know shit because they destoryed everything they didnt understand. we wil be next

  • Absolutely fantastic video! Thank you very much!

  • Love it!

  • one of uranus's moons is my name. :D

  • @icsomethingshiny124 Are you Miranda, Ariel, or Margaret? Hopefully your parents didn't name you Puck.

  • @ZombieCobain

     Miranda.

  • @ZombieCobain lol puck xDD

  • Awesome video man ! From my stand point, Uranus is the most interesting planet within our Solar System. It has caught my eyes since I was a little child when I first started reading about Astronomy. Its rotation axle tilting makes this cold and dreary world totally different from the others. Congrats for posting such a great video !

  • wow look that planet

  • Very interesting.

  • Awesome! Beautiful and interesting video. Thanks.

  • I´m sorry, but I don´t speak english. Un video genial. Bien hecho :-)

  • Lovely planet, however i wouldn't want to go there for a holiday

  • interesting :)

  • Wonderful job! Thank you!

  • Good video! I enjoyed the music!

  • looks like minty snowcone :)

  • I thought Neptune was the coldest planet... O.o

  • my favortie planet uranus

  • good music

  • WOW. Amazing !

  • uranus is terrestrial? isnt it a gas giant?

  • another great vid as suspected. I gave it a thumbs up and see 5 people out of 200 gave it a thumbs down. silly space noobs.

  • my sister asked me wat my favorite planet is i sed neptune and she sed urans and laughed i dont get what's so funny? anyone no y is it so funny to her but not me

  • @littlerascalslol89 cuz uranus is another way of saying your anus. meaning your rectal passage (need a hint?) your butt.

  • Good vid man.

  • Great Video. A beautiful and secretive world and the most misunderstood world in the solar system due to that ridiculous name.

  • This video is beautiful. It is actually making me a bit emotional! God really is the greatest artist! Is there a name for the music used? I would love to listen to it on mu ipod.

  • Thank you sir for this! Making videos like this is such a respectable act!

  • and we have 2 planets with ring.. i love universe.. so many mysteries to be solved.. :D

  • I highly doubt we're the only living species in the galaxy, i actually believe there is probably life in our very own solar system (only thing is it's most likely very small) or at least has been before us.

  • My favourite planet =)

  • It's an ice planet actually, watch the vid before posting.

  • there could be life on uranus because the life forms have adapted to the conditions, the theory wherever there is water theirs life is bullshit.

  • Fantastic video, great music. Thanks for the upload.

  • Magnificent!!

  • It's like antarctica....but in planet form and without a ground.

  • Life has already existed on all of the planets. Death is inevitable. But also all planets come back and have life again. Right now all the planets are in a dormant state. Some of the conditions of planets were created by the inhabitants so that other planets wouldn't try to land there and disrupt them in dormancy. Some were from catastrophic events cause by either the life forms or the planets ending its period of existence for their moment. The planets create life we don't. Stop trespassing

  • neptune rules

  • Your last picture of the Uranian rings is my wallpaper. I am honored to share a solar system with such a beautiful noble planet Uranus. Thanks for posting.

  • Ever since I was younger, I was fascinated with Uranus. I love the names of the moons too. Caliban, Sycorax, Zetebos, etc.

  • good to know that classical music is still the music of the universe sooooo operatic.

  • uranus might have life on it O_o not joking lol seriously though

  • @ODAL123 At 49 degrees kelvin? LOL

  • @ODAL123 at absolute zero temperatures. Tell me how it is possible?

  • Yeah I bet uranus does have life on it.`

  • @Redoubtable23 i doubt tht we can live up 2 minus 250C and hottest is 600C thts what i hav been tought anyways!!

  • i checked it does...

  • On, a cold as shit Planet? not really..

  • @nusucker hmm i know what you mean, i've got quite a few number of responses regarding my comment.but think about how vast this universe is,who can really say what conditions are necessary for 'life' to evolve?theres always a possibility for life to exist on conditions totally different to ours.you never know so i wouldn't dismiss it.

  • True, but it would Evolve longer then normaly on Earth, so basicly it would take more then Billions of years =)

  • @nusucker how do you know that?

  • thats exactly what i say. who says some other kind of life survives on water? maybe they dont need water like humans

  • @I3IJJ exactly. all we need to do is open our minds about it :D

  • I don´t really, Belive in this System Shit what Sienctists made over those years either, but who knows, Polar Bear´s can Survive in the Antarctic either, not everything has to be Human like ;D

  • @nusucker

Not to mention there are some breeds of desert rats that can go an entire lifetime without a drink of water. Forgot what it's called though.

  • Totaly.., it´s boring being the only Race in this Galaxy lol

  • you are totally right, i agree with you

  • @ODAL123 the sumerians know about this planet and all other planets 6000 years ago.they know so many things what is impossible to know.they called uranus the green planet of life.

  • Uranus is very cold ;)

  • Yep. :)

  • uranus is a gas planet....this is a problem too...

  • This was amazing.I Love all your videos. Just that i wanted to see more about Uranus's surface instead of its rings.

  • A good and a excited video!

  • Many thanks for
