Hi, sorry I didn't see this when first posted. If the grey is used to a big cage it's a shame to suddenly make him live in a much smaller cage. On the other hand, if he's going to be coming out every day then he can get by in a smaller cage as long as it's not too small. One other thing, though... cleaning a cage is mainly changing the tray paper out daily and then doing a more thorough cleaning once a week. It's not really harder to clean a bigger cage and in some ways it's easier.
Don't those birds crap all over you're house if left out? I am thinking of buying one but don't want it to fly in the house and cause damage while im at work.
You wouldn't want to leave it out loose if you weren't home, especially, but even if you were home you'd want to supervise your bird if he were out loose. Think of it as a puppy or better still as a two-year-old human child - you can't leave them unsupervised any more than you can a bird. This is for both their protection and the protection of things in the environment.
He really was! They ALL were! My pair is just now laying another clutch after a well deserved rest, and I can't wait to have more to feed and love. :)
Tail color varies on the timnehs from a maroonish to charcoal. They often have redder bits on their tail but not the entire tail. Not as eye-catching as the bright red of the congo, but still very beautiful birds.
If there was a way to get Toby to Alabama right now I would take him in a heartbeat. My rescue TAG sure could use a little buddy. What a sweet sweet boy. It looks like you provide a loving environment. You have me enthralled!
LOL, they were all such sweeties! Toby and the other boys have all gone to new homes now and are very loved and still sweet birds. The second clutch was two females and I was going to keep the youngest (Lucy) to be a companion to an older male congo I have. Well I've finally had to admit that was a romantic notion on my part and isn't practical at all. So Lucy is now for sale. You can find the latest video of her just uploaded today, 6/6/09. Thanks for watching and for the comments! :)
Heyy, i have a congo grey whos 2 years old, we bought him recently and he's been in a GIANT cage in another home.
this cage is far to big for our house and far to hard work to clean.
I Have a cage about half the size of the cage he's in now. maybe even smaller, and is there anyway you can reccomend getting him used to it?
because i dont want to just throw him in there, because he's in amazing condition and itd kill me inside if he got depressed and feather plucked..

It varies, but a handfed baby will probably be between $750 and $1100.

Do Timnehs really have red tails as babies? If so, I never knew! Sweet baby Grey by the way. Gotta love those innocent eyes. :)
