I remember these when new, we raced a guy through Gembrooke state Forest, we had an 1800 hillman hunter GT with 4 guys in it, we blew the escort away on the dirt, mind you though if the guy could drive it properly might have been a different story.
Nice more door RS you ave there. I have owned my 1980 Midnight 4 door RS2000 since 1990 - still get a huge grin every time I take her out for a run!
For the doubters out there - Ford Australia produced 4 door RS2000 under the specific model number 11938 from 5/79 to end of production in December 1980 - seriously guys, you can't get any more 'real' than that .....
@Jimmydo68 yes I checked my comp plates and the number is 11938 ,there you go I never knew that ,But after pulling this one apart for renovation back in 2005/06 every thing was as it left the factory except for the moron who decided to cut holes in the parcel shelf with an angle grinder .I ended up replacing the parcel shelf and all the glass surrounding it .Lucky they didn't destroy anything else
Nice. RSs always look good in white. I have a Red 2dr and rust Yellow 2dr in bits. I've owned another 3 including a 4dr daily driver for about 6 years.
Hey pinto punter, believe it or not I have bought parts from you off ebay for this car .Just a couple of plastics I think it was,but there you go ,small world hey!
@anastasiosg21 Sorry but that's where you are incorrect. Australia made 2406 RS2000's of which 1000 were four doors. They were made under model number 11938 and I own serial number 93672. I'd love to know how many are left still circulating in Australasia
You would live in the Uk I suspect, There was never a four door made over there. But if you look it up in Australia, Ford made 1000 of these here.I have owned two.
@gmcrs2000 i have a 4 door rs 2000 white with black decals and they are now becoming more valuable than the 2 doors mines been hiding in my shed in adelaide for 8 years now rust free cant wait to re build the pinto and hang some doughnuts like the old days lo me escorts i have a rusty 1970 mk1 that needs a rebirth cant wait ive got the bug again
I also have a 1971 in the shed ,Its a replica rs 1600 with all the rally gear on ( spots flairs etc..) .I think I'll get it out wash it and put it on video also ..
Hey Tazy, that's an Australian RS2000, they had 4 door & 2 door versions here as well as a 54 litre fuel tank that was filled from behind the rear number plate. I wish I still had mine, it went hard.
Fantastic car, I didnt realise they made a 4 door version of it. My brother in our younger years had a black 2 door with full roll cage. Man that was an animal! Unfortunately it went up in flames! :(
nice car man my dad used to have a yellow one and it was awesome i used to go to work with him as a kid and he used to pull a burnout everytime we left and it would fill up the whole shed with smoke lol. it was the RACING CAR LOL WAT A BEAST
that is the best car ever, where did you pick it up? looks immaculate. boy i wish i had a mark 2 escort, would sett;e for a bog standard popular which my dad owned - he used to work at the the dagenham plant where they were made
Great isn't it,I had a 79 model about 16 years ago but sold it for a Sierra. Tried to keep this one as an original as possible. Somewhere I read that Ford Australia only produced 1000 of these 4 doors Models So that would make this one fairly rare.
this car reminds me of and old car a had left to me by my grand mother a few years ago ,it had been owned by my uncle ,well any way it came with the house ,well being female i did not kmow anything about cars ,basicaly it was white with two doors instead of 4 as far as i can remember it had a thick two tone blue stripe running along both sides an i think it said rs800 on the back, anyway as i dont know anything about cars i just sent it to the crushers and got £50 pounds for it
Beauty - Rare to see an RS, let alone one with 4-doors! (I believe it was a RS2000 variant indigenous to Australia) I've got a 4-door 1980 Ford Escort myself, although its one of the more 'common garden variety' vinyl interior 1.3L versions!

What a beautiful car.
Remembers me to the one my father owned more than 20 years ago.
At that time I was to young to drive it.......what a sad sad feeling.
Was a white one too and had the RS stripes. Still new the sound.
What a car!
