Just came back to CEE from Calgary-Banff-Vancouver visit, and I can tell you there is nothing like the ROCKIES. Banff SPA, Lake Morain, Lake Louise, Rocky Mountaineer. In Cancouver the skytrain says "The best Place on Earth". They are wrong because its BANFF! :))
Its so freaking sad that I never visited places like this. I mean, I lived near Alberta, and Banff for almost all my life, and never been there.. Until next week that is..
Petit (gros) clin d'oeil à mon autre et surtout à sa fille Danika qui se trouve actuellement à Banff depuis le 11 juillet. Elle doit en avoir plein les yeux... on t'embrasse fort et on t'aime fort
I live in Banff. It is easy to get away from tourists. They spend most of their time on Banff Ave. A simple walk out of town, and you feel like you have nature all to yourself.
Having stayed in both Banff and Lake Louise, I can say that Banff is beautiful if you know where to stay! And thats not downtown! :) Its up in the mountain to the southwest! :)
Well perhaps you can say something nice. Camping costs money. You can sleep on the roadside for free but not fun or safe.
Parking is free everywhere in Banff. Sewer...that's free although maybe someone charged you because you...were so thankful to be in such an incredible place that we have set aside. Perhaps you may want to plan a trip somewhere that is totally free?
I paid $60 Dollars for one week and consider it an investment to one of the Worlds most Beautiful Parks. My car drives from Banff to Jasper and to Yaho were specatular and it was eveident that the money was being used for the environment keeping it clean.
im plannin a holiday to banff and was thinking of sleepin in the suv vehicle to save money on hotel fees. ANy ideas on where i could do it? I dont wanna get arrested or anything but its my god given right to sleep. ONly thing i really need is a shower at least evewry three days. I mean you can handle not having a shower for a day or two and nobodies going to notice when im riding my mountain bike about. ANy ideas on where i should sleep in my vehicle in the banff jasper area or near by
i just came back from banff and there is a hotel there called the voyager inn and its only like a$100 and the romms are pretty good. The hotel also has a pool a hot tub and a sauna
I've been chased out of lots of parking lots and secondary roads when I tried it. Better to pay to stay at one of the hostels in town - they are cheap and you get to meet like-minded folks, make new friends, etc. You get your shower and a place to cook, too. The HI-Banff Alpine Centre has a pub onsite, too, lots of fun.
We have created a new video called "Banff Lake Louise Tourism 2009" it's in the Video Responses section, but also under our 'more from' section... also split into Summer and Winter if you'd like to check them out!
I have done reply's directly to the people wondering, sorry... probably not the smartest route to take in hindsight... This video was created before I came and nobody seems to know here in the office at this time... I will look into it and see what I can track down.
Now c'mon Mike don't mislead tourists. Banff/Yoho/Kanaskis/Jasper etc is a place of unparalleled beauty(have a few vids of myself) and you could spend a lifetime exploring it and never see the same thing twice. But you aren't homeless and I don't think anybody would be allowed to be homeless in Banff. They would probably get a free mandatory ride to Calgary! Can't have anything unseemly in BANFF! ;-)
Banff is at the top of my places to visit. Can't decide whether I want to go there in the summer or the winter though. Winter is great because of snowboarding, but it seems a lot of the sightseeing (blue lakes, etc) is different in the winter. Hell, why not do it twice? haha
0RobinHood1 - "you mean places.a nation can't be great."
Nations indeed can be great. I believe what you are trying to say is that people (Human beings) can't take credit for the natural beauty of the land, which is true, and applies to your nation as well.
Im hopefully moving out there in a couple months, trying for a job at the fairmount on lake louise, i cant even wait, im from niagara falls ontario, and this is going to be the experence of a life time!
I'm from the UK and visited Calgary and Banff recently. Banff is soooo incredibly beautiful, it takes your breath away. Calgary is amazingly modern and clean. The people very friendly and the food is soooo good. The outdoors experience in Canada is like no other in the world- no where else compares to it.
fantastic place great people, go to the royal canadian legion great beer, 3.5 dollars a pint good snacks and very friendly and it helps support canadian servicemen too, highly recomend
I live in Canada but its not even close to as exlirating as Alberta is. I live in southeastern Ontario, im close to the south shores of Lake Ontario, and a 20 minute drive from Niagara Falls. But its nothing compared to Alberta.
I live in Calgary and I have been to Banff many times. I NEVER get tired of it. I love Canada. If you are considering to go to Banff or Canada. COME! It really is amazing.
Depends where in Aberta you live. Everyone goes to Calgary and thinks "Oh this is what all of Alberta is like now I know everything about it". Alberta isn't just pretty mountains and rodeos. It's full of many different cultures.
You know how a lot of tourist vids make the real thing look better than it is? I can tell you honestly that you CANNOT even show in a photograph/film how beautiful this area actually is. Spectacular. Run, don't walk :)
If standing and staring at scenery of outstsanding natural beauty is what you enjoy then go to the Canadian Rockies....I did and I cannot wait to go back.
I love Canada!! I wil back to Canada!!!!
