since the mpc2000 doesnt have usb you might have to get the chops to a disk or something like that. do you have a zip drive or what connected to the mp?
a fam i gotta question for u.. do you use your whole computer main strictly for your music stuff....cuz some dude told me that you cant use pro tools with other stuff in your computer it wont work... get at me thanks ...
i gotta mac and i my shit works fine. they say if its not broke dont fix it, meanin that ur not supposed to be updatin certain things on ur comp or pro tools starts actin real funny but other than ur straight
also, wats the best way to save the chopped regions??? Should I just copy them from the Pro Tools session file folder or can I tell the comp where to save them in a new folder...say in my documents??? Thanks
yo daddijones, thanks for this video man, I was wondering how you use Beat Detective. I just figured out how to sample from my records into Pro Tools so this helps me out a bit.
I have a question though.
I am using an Axiom 61 Midi controller. And I have the Structure Free sampler(I really want to get Strike though, as it would be better for what I want to do)
Once you chop the sample, and save it to your HDD, is it possible to bring those chops back into PT through your sampler software?
I don't think strike is good for triggering chopped samples...you need to look into battery 3 or kontakt. yeah once you chop them in PT and save em to you Hard drive then then they are free game to any thing that can open a wav file. just save them to a specific folder to make it easy on yourself and go get'em
Yeah I was watching some Digidesign videos and Structure is the better option for what I want to do.
You can chop it with Beat Detective and load the samples in to Structure and map the samples across the keys and even set it to either the whit or black keys.
You can even edit the sample in structure to get it just right.
Look into it if you don't want to bounce your samples out to an external machine and keep it in Pro Tools.
I'm looking for a way simpler yet, like using the auto pan from ableton. It chopps things through modulation, you have to set it right though but it's 10x more fast you can do it in less than 10 seconds with any material. Not that i didn't liked your tutorial, it's the best one i've come across in my search yet, but i'm just trying to find something quicker and straight.
I mainly wanna chopp synths\pads\leads\guitars\basslines.
If only they implemented a "chop the grid" option in pt 7.4 ahhah
you can chop to the grid!!!! all you gotta do in pro tools is select the region and go to the edit menu and select separate on grid and that's it!!! 5seconds!!! lol
Hey Daddijonez. REALLY helpfull video man. Just stumbled across it by accident and you have tought me something I have wondered about for a long time. Thanks a lot.
I just got pro tools mbox2 and i noticed that when I loop a region it tends to get faster or fall off beat as the song progress's. Could you give me any help?
The only time it should do that is if you intend to. I never heard of this problem and can't say I know the answer but I can put up a vid on how to do that as well. Stay tuned!
Hey, your problem may be if the region isn't quite the right length. Like for example if it is too short by a very small amount it will slowly move out of time. A way to test if this is your problem would be to repeat the loop many times, if it gets worse and worse out of time the longer you play it then you need to make the region longer.
thanx man thats a big help. i'm slowly figuring out how 2 use pro tools, I really would like 2 go 2 school for this stuff, just not sure if I can get student aid for it yet. thanx again
Thanks
